Also only paint the bath portion itself with non toxic paint if at all. I made mine into a small fountain so the constantly circulating water prevents algae and mosquitos from breeding and keeps the water cleaner since the small particles escape through the holes back down to the camouflaged 5 gallon bucket beneath it and sink to the bottom.

My birdbath is a little too deep, I think. Is it ok to put rocks in the bottom to help with that? What is the easiest way to keep the bath clean?

Yes, you can add rocks to the bottom for smaller birds and insects. For cleaning, we suggest emptying the basin every 2-4 days, wipe the basin out with a rag and refill with clean water. No fancy equipment required!

What’s wrong with my birdbath it’s a shallow metal birdbath. I restored it and painted it blue like the ocean. It’s been setting up for two weeks and I have not seen any birds even go to it to drink. Do birds not like the color blue ?

Metal is unnatural to them, and it probably reeks after paint and/or the water is contaminated by the paint.
