- When the ROG Ally first launched, there was a lot of concern with how this device would hold up long term. There were worries about the SD card issue, warranty issues & concerns about a degrading battery. The ROG Ally X is the best Windows handheld and a massive improvement over the original Ally. Buut, is the Ally still the best option for people who want an affordable windows handheld. Every year a dozen new windows handhelds pop up claiming more power & more battery life. but what if one of the best windows handhelds actually from the past? Today we’re taking a look at the original ROG ally to find out if it’s still a great option in 2025. The PSP was my very first handheld console. It had 5 hours of battery life and GENUINE console quality games like GTA, Midnight club and test drive unlimited. they managed to fit a 1:1 scale of a Hawaiian island onto disc and I loved this thing. When I new handhelds like the steam deck and rog ally came out, I was super excited. I picked up this Used ally on Facebook Marketplace and I’ve been using it for 8 months now and here’s my review

My previously tried the steam deck and didn't like it because I was more familiar with Windows I got my ally used for $350 with a 1 terabyte and immediately felt more at ease with the OS also had SD Card issues turns out I was able to register the device and had full warranty available to me I shipped it in and they replaced the motherboard and shipped it back Asus also fixed two bumper buttons that were not working correctly that I was not even aware of😊 really happy with this device it even does some light 7 billion parameter AI large language models❤ it's so much fun

Nevertheless the performance on every game especially triple A is much much better / 15/20fps +

can get a used ally for much cheaper in the uk at least expecially second hand
Rog $50 more for me. But I’ve had both and the steam deck oled is just so much nicer and finished feeling. Plays the same as the Ally. And I trust steam a whole lot more than any other company.
not really i got my ally for 300 and its way better than my steamdeck i just let my son have it
