Awesome mods John. I'm waiting on my 17' pro. Only thing I'd suggest is gusseting your lowers because there known to be the weakest link in your suspension. Not much experience in a runner but I've also heard of people say having the rear links skids a must if you wheel hard. Keep up the great work and looking to see more vids
Informative video. Had mine installed at the same location that has I previously installed my suspension and super charger so they r trusted although not a dedicated specialty shop for this type upgrade. The concern is not the stiffness of the ride but the swaying or drifting of the steering. I have previously owned two Jeeps and my 16’ TRD Pro 4Runner feels like I’m back behind the wheel of a Jeep. The shop really has no answer to my concern but after watching ur video, it may b an alignment issue if they aligned everything back to factory spec after the install. Do u recommend me taking the 4Runner to an alignment shop? Thanks and I hope u respond to this 6 year old video because this is super frustrating. Jes
The other option is metal tech for the skid plate for the control arm. Though I had the Total Chaos +2 on my FJ and was a very high quality. Just make sure you keep the ball greased to prevent surface rust.
A lot of companies make skids for the LCA. With the total chaos you get a skid, full boxed and sealed, 1in stainless uniball, and poly bushing upgrade. Not to mention they look badass. Thats why I went this route!
+Florida TRD absolutely metal tech is just one of the options. I totally agree with the TC lowers. They are a great option if you can swing it and within the specs of your build. Myself I wanted to go a different route on my truck since I wanted to limit changes on this build compared to my previous Long Travel with 35s. Might have another in the future heavy duty build. Now I tend to do more overland and fire trails than anything really serious enough to need to bullet proof everything. For me a great set of skids and little upgrades here and there make it perfect. Though the soft trd valving is annoying and might go with the Icons to match my trailing arms and upper control arm and have a stiffer ride. Looking good so far.
I have a 2010 Prerunner Tacoma with ICON Tubular UCA's ; I got positive camber from a 3" lift even with the aftermarket UCA, do you think swapping out for aftermarket LCA's will fix the camber issue?
LOL. Yeah no. Both my Tacoma & 4Runner were aligned perfectly and zero pull or drift issues. Go some place else and have it aligned to factory specs and you'll be good to go!
I mean the camber was in factory specs according to to a 4wheelparts (they did my alignment) & Joe Myers Toyota, but the camber looks really bad. But I will take it to somewhere else later, thanks!
Was the built-in skid plate your deciding factor in choosing that TC LCA over the TC race version? I'm looking on doing the same on a 4th Gen. There's nothing wrong with my OEM LCAs, I just want something tougher with better bushings.
I don't think KDSS equipped Trails can use these but I could be wrong. Also, are you able to buy the socket that's needed instead of having to grind on one?
That's correct, KDSS equipped vehicles will not be able to use these as is. You'll need to modify the arm and fabricate a threaded mounting plate that you weld on, in order to connect the KDSS sway bars.

Just for anyone watching and I’m sure the poster caught his mistake but the uniball cup was installed backwards.
I was wondering how did adding the total chaos lower control arms affected your turning radius? And was there a change to your ground clearance?
bump

Hey great channel man, love your work.
Thank you!
You should get the aftermarket front bummer with a winch. That would be badass!

Did you have trouble putting back the 2 bottoms bolts on the knuckle?.. I had a really hard time putting them back when installing a 3” lift
Greetings. Are these control arms. Long travel????

woah, didnt realize it costs nearly 2k
Thats odd you got positive camber right out of the box. Did you have it aligned to correct the camber issue?
Florida TRD 4wheelparts told me i had to keep it that way or else it would steer right.

I get a 4runner 97 in one of those autoaction And saw these things in the suspension of my truck
Do you have KDSS?

You could search around and try to find one. I went the fast route so I could finish the install. But now you know the special tools you need!

Are the shock mounts still the same on the total chaos lca?
awesome video! what was that alignment application you were using?
I know its hunter but i don't remember the model. It uses the hang on heads not the clamp heads.
Are you for hire to do these same mods on my TRD PRO?
Unfortunately no. Sorry.
Model number?
TRD pro gets total chaos ? lol should of just gotten the 4x4 trd base and done this instead
Lol or just go with an SR5 and lock the front/rear and re-gear
