  • In this video I show how I replaced the rear brake pads on my Honda XL700V Transalp . It's the same caliper as other models like the 650, or the Africa Twin XRV 750.
Show some love with a like! Thanks!

Very usefull video, but I have a question, don't you need to open the rear brake fluid deposit lid before pushing back the piston? thanks

Hi there! If you didn't add brake fluid between pads changes, the diaphragm inside the deposit should take care of the added thickness. If you did add fluid at some time, then you definitely need to open the deposit, remove the diaphragm and even take out some fluid when pushing back the piston. In case of doubt, it's better to open the deposit, as you said, and check the fluid is not overflowing when pushing the piston back. In that case you'll need to remove some fluid, and then adjust the level once the new pads are in place.
