    Great video - thank you for the detailed comparison. I purchased my first Ryobi 18+One Circular Saw late last summer and I really like it. Unsurpassed quality while very easy to operate even for a beginner like me. It helped me when I had to rebuild my front porch because the handy man that I had hired wasn't so handy.

    great comparison video - it is amazing how far technology has come when it comes to nail guns - the Ryobi makes sense to me, makes me wonder how the other one operates and why it is less reliable - thanks for the vid

    Nice to hear an Australian voice for once. I have about 20 of the various Ryobi One+ tools and all of them without exception perform faultlessly. BTW Ryobi have just released their first 18v brushless drill driver! Looks great so I think I'll pick one up from Bunnings. Great review. Cheers

    totally agree with you about ryobi tools,ive had all the competition over the last 20 years dewalt makita bosch hitachi and none has been as reliable as ryobi
    i use impact driver and sds everyday as a sparky with no probs in 3 years though i have got 4 x 4ah batteries as 1.5 dont last all day

    Thanks for the info .Ive been eyeing that ryobi for some time, I'm a finish carpenter and I like the way the ryobi is compact. But was skeptical of the power it had. My main finish gun (2.1/2 in angled DeWalt cordless) out performs the paslode&senco Allllll day everyday . So hopefully that ryobi will be a nice compact powerful dependable match. Thanks again

    You should do a video like this but with the Ryobi 15 ga. angled nailer. That way it'll be a fair contest against the AEG.

    • @cili7
      @cili7 5 років тому +1

      Exactly right! Completely different nailers for different tasks.

  • @Wackywoodworks
    @Wackywoodworks 5 років тому

    They are two different nailers one is a pin nailer and then AEG is brad nailer for different applications on the building site.
    * Pin nailer for doing your trim and architraves etc (or even making some smaller projects and furniture etc).
    * Brad nailer for door jam/jamb etc, even put up ply and OSB cladding depending on the type and size of the brad being used and some slightly bigger projects.
    * And the big gun your framing nailer for actual framing and construction work.
    I have the next version of the AEG Finish brad nailer and it works flawlessly punches the brads into the same depth every time... I only adjust the depth and pressure when firing into different woods etc.

    • @WesTpaintninjagc
      @WesTpaintninjagc  5 років тому

      Wacky Wood Works they are actually both Brad nailers if different gauges pin nailers are much smaller than what comes out of the ryobi

    • @keith4154
      @keith4154 5 років тому

      Hi Wacky Wood Works
      Is your AEG brad gun an upgraded version of the one in this review and where did you source the product from?
      This guy was fair on the review and I have had others mention the same thing about the lack of control on nail depth.
      I have a lot of AEG tools and batteries all work well and get used daily so I am considering an AEG brad gun to replace my old and now unreliable paslode.

    Ryobi is part of the same company as AEG and Milwaukee, called TTI. Ryobi stuff can be good but you can't get parts. Ryobi stuff can last but you need to look after it, with Ryobi you shouldn't do big rushed jobs. Ryobi don't really sell spares. I am not a proffesional but I think that Makita sell alot of spare parts because they used to be a motor repair company

    • @WesTpaintninjagc
      @WesTpaintninjagc  10 років тому

      you could use it for that with longer nails, but you'd be better off using a heavier guage nailer like a paslode, or an air nailer with a heavier guage structural nailer for that. Or just screw them with an impact driver.

  • @leesmartin
    @leesmartin 6 років тому

    Hey mate, cheers for the video. I bought the angled AEG gun, as I have loads of their gear which I'm happy with, though their nailer didnt sit the nails flush or below the melamine surface. Took it back to Bunnings to exchange, and that one did it too. So pissed off, as I wanted all AEG gear so I could use just one of the 4 chargers I have. Back using the old gasless Dewalt, though thats starting to play up and now in for a service. What would you recommend for nailing into 16mm melamine and mdf? I do wardrobe and kitchen fitouts. Cheers

    • @WesTpaintninjagc
      @WesTpaintninjagc  6 років тому

      Yeah i did similar, kit looked good but it just wouldnt fire 4 nails in a row without fucking up. took it back. Its not even ryobi quality, that particular nailer. However what i will say, is the NEW aeg stuff, brushless drill etc which im yet to try, and their garden gear looks the business. i think 54v or something rediculous, and the brushless drill is 134nm torque on the drill, which is way above everything else. Most of my stuff is makita brushless, but if i go cheap stuff always ryobi.

    • @leesmartin
      @leesmartin 6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the reply mate. I just went to Bunnings and bought the angled 15g nailer, (as that is what I'm used to using) as I need one for work tomorrow, and as I mentioned, the old Dewalt which has done me very well with no hassles whatsoever for years is in getting a service. I didnt want to spend a lot, so $378 all up with a 1.5ah battery and charger was a no brainer. Really pissed about the AEG after trying 2 guns, and the guy at Bunnings agreed that they have had quite a few returned. AEG didnt give a shit when I contacted them ( I bought $2000 worth of tools), so I'll probably buy some more Ryobi tools soon, as the warranty is much better than AEG with the new for old swapping, then sell all the AEG. I have 8 AEG batteries, and 2 have shit themselves within 3 months, so thats another thing I'm pissed about. As you'd know, you need the gear to do your job! Thanks again, have subscribed. Lee in Adelaide

    • @leesmartin
      @leesmartin 6 років тому

      So I tried the 15G DA brad nailer today. 32mm nails into 16mm melamine sit proud which is bloody annoying, so I exchanged it for a C brad nailer to try tomorrow

    • @leesmartin
      @leesmartin 6 років тому

      Yep, the C bradder is shit too! Fucking pissed off with these things, as unless you have the tool absolutely flush and vertical with the material, the brads won't sit flush, even after changing the depth gauge and power adjustment. When I install top shelves in a wardrobe, you have to have the tool on at least a 10 degree angle so you don't scratch the walls. It works fine to do door jambs or anything where you can have the tool flush, bit other than that theyre pointless. Waiting for my Dewalt to come back from a service, then I'll go and buy something else

    Interesting to hear. I'm already invested in the Ryobi system, but I was curious to see how the AEG performed. Is there a particular niche for the 15Ga nailer? It seems a bit small for framing, but a bit chunky for skirting and mouldings.

    • @WesTpaintninjagc
      @WesTpaintninjagc  10 років тому

      you could use it for small framing jobs, repairs etc. If your building a house get a framing nailer. either the ryobi, or the makita one i've reviewed for skirting etc.

    • @jeffkirk6202
      @jeffkirk6202 10 років тому

      15 gauge nailers arent for framing at all, they are a heavy gauge finish nail, you can use it for exterior trim and hanging interior doors, installing dense baseboard trim. framing requires specific size nails which are rated for such

    • @WesTpaintninjagc
      @WesTpaintninjagc  10 років тому

      When i said that i was more meaning just tacking timbers in place for either screwing or nailing with bigger stuff. Skirting absolutely fine.

  • @SuperGrover

    I've got the AEG nailer, it's a piece of junk and their service center won't repair them. Identical to the Ridgid brand, which in the US is the cheap version of Milwaukee I think. All those brands, including Ryobi, are owned by TTI industries.

    • @jeffkirk6202
      @jeffkirk6202 10 років тому

      ***** 18 gauge nails are far too small for installing decking, their for installing small moldings and interior trim. if you use 18 gauge for decking youll end up renailing it with proper nails within a few months

    I've had AEG gun for about 6 months used it, well at least I was trying to use it and in my opinion that gun is a complete rubbish. I sold it on E-bay and bought Senco Fusion F15 and F18 guns, that was about a year ago and so far I'm very happy with Senco. Having said all this I just like to point out the fact that all these guns are designed for soft wood only. I was doing some trim work a couple of weeks ago and was unable to shoot 65mm nails to a hardwood stud, 45mm nails went in ok though.

    • @WesTpaintninjagc
      @WesTpaintninjagc  9 років тому

      Alex Kelner yes that would be my pick of nail gun. makita has actually come out with a gasless 18v nailer that might not be too bad - took them long enough ! I think maybe for hardwood you need the gas or the senco for that extra punch though.

    • @entstudio63
      @entstudio63 9 років тому

      In a reality, if it comes to hardwood I take my compressor out, my set of air nail guns. I have them in all sizes and colors. Lol. Any way, I am not a big fan of gas operated cordless guns. In fact, I ones got myself a Paslode framer from Bunnings and took it back next day, could take the smell... But I guess It all comes to a personal choice.

Cheers

      I wouldnt say AEG are trade quality, they feel cheap to hold. The only thing i have seen on an AEG tool is on the drill which is an all metal chuck which you can get in just about any brand. Im not a huge fan so far. Ryobi tools dont feel cheap when you use them, they feel like they are pretty reasonable, all stigma's aside. Thanks for watching buddy. Im going to borrow my mates AEG kit and do a review of that too.

    • @WesTpaintninjagc
      @WesTpaintninjagc  10 років тому

      If your doing something like a door jamb, maybe then C1 brads but for the majority of skirting board applications pin nails are more than strong enough. If you fire a few pin nails angled through a skirting board on its own, it isnt going anywhere. Thats not taking into account the painter gapping up the skirting before painting which gives it some additional strength.

      actually you could quite easily nail skirtings on with the 18 gauge 50mm nails, as said before you nail them at an angle to get a better hold or even better you could stick the skirtings to the walls with silicone and use the nails to hold it in place while the silicone sets and then it wont go anywhere. plus in australia most houses dont have skirting baords they have render all the way down to the floor usually so you might have to silicone them anyway otherwise your nailing right into brick or breeze block where as in the uk most houses are fitted with grounds so you have something to nail to. but if you have actually ever used a nail gun you will find that using 50mm nails even without silicone in most cases will do the trick just fine. and wesley was right about when they get painted and sealed to the wall it does add even more strength as you would know if you have ever stripped skirtings of the wall which can be a nightmare to get them off cleanly without damaging the wall. and why would you use glue for skirtings ? lol only time you ever use glue on trim work is when you are doing a mitre joint. cause if slamming the doors is enough to make skrtings or facings/mouldings fall of the wall putting glue on it isnt gonna make much difference lol

Appologise for not spending the $1000 you thought you were entitled to watch also for free. Not that ryobi had that nailer available at the time to compare it to anyways it came out much later. Which I’ve also reviewed.

      Gregory Londos these were the two maulers available in Australia at that point in time at this price point. Ryobi did not have a nailer marching the aeg size at all. You absolute fuckwit. Ryobi came out with the one I’ve show in the video WHEN I’ve shown it. When the aeg one was available. The straight ryobi nailer wasn’t out here then which I later bought and reviewed and the angled nailer was released later again. Absolute dickhead. These were the two cheapest cordless nailers you could buy at the time. So it wasn’t even possible to do an apples to apples comparison as the products were not available. As it was I imported that nailer from the USA when it was out probably 6-8 months BEFORE it was even available in Australia. Not that you would know with your zero subscribers and channel.
