I still love coming back to your channel to get my farm fix in. It feels authentic as opposed to some other UA-camrs. No crazy gimmicks or click-bait BS. Keep on keepin' on.
April 11 we could have started corn. We started planting beans 4-26 thru 4-28, and haven't been able to get back into the field since. Hopefully get back to beans and start corn next week. Safe spring planting!!!
2 things: 1 - its cool to see how much attention to detail the three of you are placing on getting the planter set up just right. 2 - the slow drift time lapse of you VT-ing....absolutely amazing cinematography. Great shots.
I am so glad that Travis participate in some of your videos. It makes the content even better, and makes your family operations shine. Regards from Norway.
That 46' just looks better and better every year. I think you guys might be onto something by leaving that as the designated planter tractor lol. Thanks for the video!
Seems if that is to be the "designated planter tractor", some adjustment of the wheel spacing would be in order as to not be planting in the wheel tracks.
@G. Holman Being they seem to be critical of the seed depth and coverage, like they should be, having consistent soil firmness across the whole planter width rather than 66% of it (4 of 12 rows in the wheel tracks) it would be something to aim for. Not that difficult to accomplish. Then again if the wheel spacing has never been adjusted it would take some serious grunting to make it right. So maybe just good enough is good enough.
Usually start planting here last week of March/first week of April. We had a unusual cool and dry spring so this year I didn’t get started till April 18th on corn
Just great to see the steps it takes to prepare and adjust everything for planting. In my point of view planting is one of the crucial moments in farming. Great drone footage and music!
Yes, I am impressed by their knowledge of the machinery and how to adjust it to get better results. I also really like the music. It fits the visuals so well.
@G. Holman Yes, absolutely! Seeds are a high-end product and very expensive. Reseeding is an option when it comes to wheat or triticale if you have the right equipment. I think your bank account only allows one shot when it comes to soy beans or corn.
Planted some April 10th soybeans in Indiana. Wet and cold but they are up and have a good stand. It’s amazing what good seed treatments and modern genetics can do.
Awesome video, Easter weekend with my older brother, my older sister an their family’s was the topic of discussion about planting on what days dad started. An dad brought of some old hand written records of what days he started planting. Generally mid April or mid May. The seeds we used were not like the seeds of today. Even had a hand drawn map of the fields.
Nice video, thanks for sharing. Great to see Travis in your videos since he’s been taking a respite in his routine daily videos. Wishing you and your family the best.
awsome video ryan yaaaaaah first planting this year happy to seee some planting now i going to say cant wait for harvest lol love the planting videos you do great job thumbs up and shared
Hats off to your partnership in production from advising, installing, planting and production. Andrew is my favorite utube agronamist. Good luck with great weather and seed plan to record yields at premium. Prices.
Early corn is 4/10 and early beans are 5/1 No one has turned a wheel in SE ND. Very wet and cold, I'm hoping to get going around the 15th and that's with good weather. I'm glad some are planting.
Down here in Arkansas (I work for the research farm at Arkansas State University) we aren't planting our earliest beans until next week. If we'd had the weather, we would have planted them before that. We have a cover crop test however that requires us to take biomass samples (basically all of the above ground plant material in a 1 meter square) until May 15th. As soon as its done we are going to plant right into it and then burn them down after we plant, because my boss has found its easier to plant into some of the tall, stemy material while its still green. And in order to hit our first cover crop planting date (part of the same test) this fall, we have to try and have the beans off before September 15th. It ain't gonna happen (especially since we have to cut all 200 cover crop plots individually with plot combines), but that's what's on paper. To add to that, my boss had our corn planted last spring (typically the farm is all beans one year and all corn the next) by April 5th.
I'm from SE iowa and we are 3 weeks behind already insurance date is apr.15th and I know of only a few fields that have been touched we just got another inch of rain only a small percentage has been sprayed or tilled at all
Nothing planted here in New Hamburg, Ontario Canada! Been cold then wet. Got snow a week ago and several days of frost! Ground is cold. Around this time is the average "start to plant time." Maybe in a week... Maybe.
Honestly not surprised Travis would only want to plant corn if he could, seems like on the farm corn and hay matter the most and soybean ect are just extra to use on the farm or sell
Maybe a dumb question but if the ground is cold enough where you are upping the number of plants per acre to give them a better chance, why not just wait until the ground is warmer? Just worried you won't have enough time/good conditions to get everything planted and want to get an early start?
How does hiring an Agronomist like Andrew work? Is it an hourly rate, set fee, or a percentage of yields from crops? I’m sure a lot of it is just Andrew’s personality and work ethic but really gives the impression that he has real skin in the game of y’all doing well.
What VT is that ? I am thinking I need to add something to my tillage options other than the 512 ripper in fall and mulch finisher in spring the VT tools seem to leave things more level
We finished planting almost a month ago! But,,,, we are as far south as you are north. It’s super hard to get accurate plant population with your type of planter. I’m not knocking it! Those are good planters. But trust me,,,,, it’s well worth the investment to upgrade to a vac planter. They give you so much more flexibility and accuracy. And above all else a planter is the single most important piece of equipment any farmer owns. It will make you or break you. Travis, quit your whining! Those beans are the best source of nitrogen you have! 🤣 try planting peanuts and you’ll love beans!
@@platypus128770 bushel beans is a good year, anything less than 50 is a disappointment. Highest average we’ve had was 90+. We decided it wasn’t worth the extra seed.
Like watching your videos but this was a little annoying because you brother would start out explaining what you doing in loud clear voice but as he got into it his would get lower and lower till he was almost whispering. Just I would let you know you can watch and see what I’m talking about. Or not just you might want some feedback
Don't watch the channel so I don't know who Travis is, but he is no asset to the operation. Good idea starting with beans in cold conditions just to check things out but cold temps and rain coming makes for tough conditions for planting. 115k population in 30" rows in this video is a recipe for disaster on a large scale. Row cleaners are definitely running too deep, in tilled ground they should only move clods and root balls...no soil. On your hills if you get a heavy rain the water will run down the trenches you are creating and wash away the soil and possibly the seed too.
I could watch Ryan’s drone footage all day long!!

@@dwightl5863 what options do they have for adjusting wheel spacing?
@@rtz549 The 4640 is a row-crop tractor. Meaning the spacing of the wheels, both front and rear, are adjustable so the wheels fit between the rows.

March 3 in Central TX. Some started February 12.
We actually don't start planting corn until around the 20th of May. Western KS is one of the latest places to plant it seems

Good to see y'all getting started with planting.
Down here in Southeast Texas we got our rice planted in end of March
Hey Ryan, Travis and Andrew. Andrew thank you for wearing a Clemson Tiger orange sweat shirt.
Great video Ryan and Travis
Time lapse drone shot was awesome!
I just love to see the 46 on the planter😁👍 awesome video again👍👍
Good thing you guys were checking that planter as you started out. That could of been expensive mistake.

Started planting corn here in east central Illinois on April 28. Only planted a couple days and now on rain delay.
We are looking to start planting monday the 9th

Hoodies on and planting beans 🙃😳🙏😂. Wisconsin. Thanks guys!!
Planter looks good. 👍
Good job Men, Happy- ish planting👌👍🙂
May God bless you with a great season.
Watching this a little late.. but we just started with corn here in northeast Ohio yesterday
most farmers are done with beans and corn here in North Alabama. we started April 6
Gonna hopefully get planted sweet corn next week if the fields dry enough. doing 75 and 84 day sweet corn
another awesome video. down here in western missouri. we can't get the spigot shut off. fields are just mud
I love planting videos hope everything works out for ya
We've got a 4840 we just overhauled and is used on the sprayer and the haybine. Gotta do some work to get it looking as good as that 46😂

Learned something new today!
When it gets warm and stop raining. I'll plant
I think you have mastered the “drone operator and tractor operator at the same time” technique 😂
"The Farm Wife" (YT) and hubby started planting their bean crop also, instead of corn, in NC
Still have yet to start, maybe tomorrow or Saturday.
Friday
Not my farm personally but a farm around me got starred in planting around March 30
The first day of planting is always a little nerve racking. Good luck.
May 4th. Haven’t started yet. NW of SW of the twins 90 miles.
Travis😂 😂 , love your channels guys! After iam done with HFW (haven´t watched any channel in two month) i´ll be watching The Rest of the Story.:)
Thanks for watching!
Good video
South eastern wi has like nothin in yet next week is looking like great weather so im guessing next week we will be
April 26 on corn still waiting on weather to corporate so we can finish corn and do soybeans
Question: What would be the common reasons you would need a fire extinguisher in a tractor?

do canola work were u live ?

Earthmaster 3000 VT.
Why don't you plant wheat or barley in that area?
NC WI to wet even to think about going out to the field
