- We live in Connecticut, growing zone 6. We are in our third year of growing hardy kiwi vines on our property. It is May 24, 2023 and this is a very quick update on how they look. We will be sharing a longer video after they bloom and talking about in more detail how they are doing.

Can’t wait to see the update! I’m planning to start a trellis this season, just a little nervous about the windy days as I’ve heard they can get picked up
Thanks so much! We have our posts down pretty well on this one. I could see possibly our other cattle panel having an issue during hurricane winds when all the green beans are growing on it because we weren't able to put the posts down far due to rocks.
By looks of how those vines are wrapping tightly around your trellis and many years in the future that vines gonna become thick grow and choke itself out you might want to untangle some of them now while you have the chance to and just let them just grow on the outside and then drape over

Wow, is that trellis big enough? Everything I have read says they turn into monsters.
They do need to be heavily pruned back in winter. Considering the amount of kiwis we have gotten on them so far... the trellis might be too big. 😆

Are they REAL kiwi’s?
They’re a kiwi berry, they’re smaller than fuzzy kiwi. 😊
Does the hardy kiwi fruit every year? Mine hasn't got any flowers on it yet and last year was the first year I got fruit but I didn't realize they were hardy kiwi and I was waiting for them to get big and fuzzy, then I found out it wasn't that kind of kiwi
