I live less than 5miles as the crow flies, from Fairchild AFB. It is the biggest Strategic Command base in the U.S, since this was filmed 2 B52's have crashed there. Also a mass shooting occurred in the "90"s .An airman dropped the gunman who was carrying an AK 47, from 250 yard's away with a .45 acp😮
The Air Force no longer has an active alert force anything like SAC had in the 1950’s - 1980’s. Today, only a handful of B-52’s and B-1’s remain from that era and none are on an alert status. If a nuclear missile attack against the USA was launched from either submarines or ICBM’s, USAF nuclear bombers would have insufficient time to respond and would be destroyed on the ground. The Air Force essentially relies on missiles, many of which are as old as the bombers. This is pretty much the same situation with the B-2’s. Curtis Lemay would be horrified at the complacency, obsolescence and size of the current Air Force. In his day, SAC was the most powerful deterrent against an attack on the United States.
Strategic Air Command had a military culture all it's own. There are stories that made these men almost as scary as Marines in terms of professionalism and resolve. They wanted to glass the Soviets sooo badly...
U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers played a decisive role in the defense of Khe Sahn during the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam. Round the clock high altitude bombing killed hundreds of North Vietnamese soldiers who had surrounded Khe Sahn.
And the female hydraulic specialist replaces the high pressure line with a low pressure line, resulting in the longest landing rollout of a B-52D at Edwards.
The Navy should of sent a Representative to the award ceremony for the Air Force crew that saved 6 of their men!! I would have been pissed if I was an Air Force commander!!
Thanks man, glad to see you're still uploading.
You and Atomic Cafe are awesome.
I didnt know of Atomic Cafe before reading your comment. Thanks!
Also, I hope your bodily fluids are okay.
I purify them once a week after shopping at the liquor store. Thanks for the concern.

Totally OT but airman Brown's handgun was Beretta M9 and distance was ~70yds.
A well motivated airman and his .45.damn near as good as a B-53 nuke
Some people like to make shit up as they go...
The largest aircraft wing in SAC was the 93rd BMW at Castle.
I had the pleasure of working for GEN Holloway at HQ SAC 1969-71. He was pure class.
Than you for your time in all of this
I think Richard O. Hunziker was the name of one of the pilots in the Thunderbird movie shot in Italy during WW2

The general at the end was one special cookie.
