Augusta National is Public!?
Well... not exactly. But this course is pretty darn close!
This Golden Horseshoe is a gem! There's no better way of putting it. From the first to tee to the last green, the clubhouse, and beyond the entire experience was amazing.
The back 9 highlight has to be the signature 16th hole. A beautiful island green rumored to have been the inspiration for other famous island greens...even the 17th at TPC Sawgrass. If you've heard of that one?
The Golden Horseshoe Gold Course, ranked #43 on the Golf Digest top 100 public courses list, is one of our all-time favorite golf courses.
We think it should be ranked higher. Any avid golfer has had the dream of walking up and down the fairways at Augusta National. But very few get the opportunity. This course gets you closer to that experience than any other and at a fraction of the price. Robert Trent Jones, the Augusta National architect agrees. He said it best.
"This is the closest I could ever come to recreating Augusta"
And the cherry on top is our own rendition of Tiger stalking the fairways. Matt, the loser from our first Williamsburg round at Kingsmill will be strutting the iconic Cardinal red mock neck and black accents. Playing a fun drinking game called Snake along the way our featured group of Tiger, Ryan, and Joe can't get enough of the stoic vibes at the Golden Horseshoe.
With the same bunker sand, bermudagrass, pine straw-lined fairways, and iconic par threes the course truly is an accessible Augusta National offering a top-tier experience for all golfers.
