Thank you so much for this detailed diy! I love that many times you said I didn’t have it so I did this instead because I won’t have those things either! I will be using this video as a template for my storage cabinet diy! First step is going to Home Depot and asking them if they make the round holes on the melamine for hinges lol thank you so much for this tutorial!
Normal wood screws are not adequate for particleboard...use large thread screws. Wardrobe is optically pleasing...structurally you will see if the draws hold together ;)
What I'm using is sold here as possible board screws. As for structural strength, it's 2,5 years since I've built it and nothing have fallen off nor it has shown any signs that it might soon. I think I'll be good.
Material price have definately gone up since I built this and for sure it really depends from country to country. I think that I paid something like $200~$250 back then. It should not be more than $300 now.
Hi just looking for a bit of advice got a load of melamine board from ikea looking to build units for my shed like kitchen base units but when drilling to join pieces together would I need to use a jig or just align them up ?
It's a material called HDF (High Density Fiberboard). It can be found under many names, but the most common English name seems to be Masonite. Where I live, we call it, Lesonit.
Hey, thanks for letting me know. I've now updated the links but basically, the BOM will be different for everyone as the idea is to build something that will fit your space. I mostly wanted to showcase the process.
I don't recall exactly but I think that the total was around $200 or about a third of what would have costed if I bought it from store. Not to mention that you almost never can match the dimensions from something pre made.
Without taking away from how amazing this is I love how simple you kept it
Thank you!
Thank you for showing how a great project like this can be done without fancy tools and a workshop!
You are welcome!
I really like the way you avoided using expensive tools which others are using. Refering to your video for building my wardrobe. Thanks
I'm glad you liked it.

Great video! What’s the thickness of the board you used pls?
Thanks! It is 16mm.
This is really great.
Which app did you use for the design
Thanks! I'm using SketchUp.
Looks quick and easy. But in reality i don't know how to start. I have no experience yet but want to make cabinet
Start by figuring out the dimensions and the panels you'll need. From there it's just assembly.
wow! well done! looks great
Thanks!
Good job sir. May I ask where did you screw your countertop in your drawers so that it will not be visible on the countertop?
See the video at 4:20 There are corner brackets shown there that hold the top from the inside.
Great video!
Thanks!
Nice job.
Thanks! 👍
That was a serious project...turned out great! How much did all the materials cost?
It was quite a while now so I don't really recall the exact amount but all in all, I think it was something in the $200 ballpark.
such clear instruction.
Thank you!
Where did you get the screw caps to cover the screws?
I bought them locally from a hardware store but you can also get them online s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DlIsaVn
Hi this really good, i feel like i can do this, can you give me company of website to order this?
Thank you
I've ordered from a local company. Check your local area for melamine dealers.
Awesome
Thanks!
Wondering what the cost of materials was for this build? In comparison to for example buing the ikea pax ones and building them up

If you are using just butt joins, then you can pre-drill the holes and just line them up for screwing.
@@TasteTheCode thanks for your help 👍
You are welcome!
Is the sketch up model free??
Yes it is free!
How much it costs in Indian rupee , and I liked it a lot
About 13~14000 rupees.
What is the material that you use for the back of the furniture?
It's a material called HDF (High Density Fiberboard). It can be found under many names, but the most common English name seems to be Masonite. Where I live, we call it, Lesonit.
Can u please tell where u purchased melamine? Local box store pricy, will not cut to size or drill hinge slot. Thanks
Is dependent on location. Where I live, we have a store that works with melamine only and it is really cheap. Try searching around.
Are they sturdy enough not to be mounted onto the wall?
More than they need to be. They are all packed full now without any issue!
Taste The Code awesome! I’m going to try my hand at building some shelving :)
Awesome! Go for it!
good job please bolt to wall if you plan keep for a while i have ikea pax 15 years later and they hang on by the hairs on my chin
Thanks! Yes, I do have them bolted to the wall! I didn't at first but then one was about to tip over so now they are all secure.
Super super super super super
Thanks!
Stodoys plans are amazing!
Good to know.
@@TasteTheCode ✌️👍
I don’t know where they can cut these many pieces for you free ?
It wasn't free. There is a price added to the board price for cutting and within that they can cut it in as many pieces as you want.
Total cost of the project?
Around US$200.
Would have been good if you had listed out a Bill of Materials. The Alibaba Links don't work anymore.

404 File not found for the sketchup file
Fixed! The proper URL is: www.tastethecode.com/downloads/wardrobe
Thanks for letting me know!
@@TasteTheCode Cheers
Can i know what laminate sheet you used for laminate and any other please let me know..
I bought the sheets pre-laminated. I only applied edge banding. There are many variaties and colors you can choose from.
@@TasteTheCode so is there any idea for wpc boards what i can place on the wpc boards (laminate sheets or veneer or anything ) ?
Not sure. I've never used wpc boards. Check your local supplier for options. I know that there are some vinyl stickers that you can apply.
Taste The Code thanks mate
Had to listen to on mute... wife is sleeping...its actually for her lol... how much approx?!?
