- Victor and I take the gravel bikes on our first overnight bike packing adventure on Catalina Island. We ride from our doorstep to Balboa to catch a boat to Avalon, then ride to Parson's Landing to camp overnight. The following day we return to Avalon for the boat ride home.

Very well done, looking forward to something similar late summer. I've done the marathon many times, but I think biking will be an awesome experience. Kudos for filming most of this with a hand-held.

Thanks for sharing. I am dreaming of a 2-3 day gravel adventure on Catalina on my Lynskey GR-Race. The last and only time I was on the island was after landing my homebuilt airplane there for a few hours about 10 years ago.

Seeking to eBike up the mountain from Avalon and back down in 3_4 hours- how do we do that. Do we need a permit.
For a more armature/intermediate rider in your opinion is it possible to ride from Avalon to parsons landing in one day with fully loaded bike?
How long did the leg from Avalon to Two Harbors take you? Also, was it mostly uphill between those two points? The girlfriend and I are going the other direction and are trying to approximate time.
It sounds like you are looking for information on how long it will take to ride South from Two Harbors to Avalon. That all depends on the route you choose and your fitness level. For a route I would recommend that you ride through Middle Ranch. This route is approximately 22 miles and 3100 feet of elevation gain. The toughest sustained climb will be the 2 miles immediately outside of Two Harbors. There will be a few shorter climbs south of Little Harbor. Middle Ranch is a gentle 6 mile incline. Beware the short, hard climb that connects to Airport road. Here is my Strava activity that shows this information.
