TIME STAMPS: 3:35 - Time is taken to acknowledge the momentous occasion of having these three icons sitting at the table with us for a very special episode of People's Party. They go on to discuss Snoop's incredible contribution to the game, how all four members of the group elevate one another, a radio station that tried to create a rivalry between $hort and 40, and Mount Westmore's track, 'Free Game'. The group also makes a toast as 40 blesses us with his 'never above, never below' chant. 11:30 -- Cube speaks on all the game he learned from $hort, the independent hustle he pioneered, and their friendship going back to the days of both being openers for acts like Run-DMC. 40 talks about how much he gravitated to $hort's music coming up and $hort admits to being the oldest of the group but acting the youngest. Suave House Records founder Tony Draper is discussed, his legacy of creating the blueprint for independent success in the industry, and being the go-to for managing Mount Westmore. 23:39 -- $hort and 40 engage in a back-and-forth over the fun facts and 'did you knows' of hip hop history as well as shared birthdays, and what astrological sign reigns supreme. The group goes on to show love for Black Thought, discuss Cube's skills as an A&R, and touch on Snoop Dogg being one of the most recognizable faces in the universe and one of the best to pick up a mic. They speak on Snoop's generosity amongst his peers, and how powernaps have been Dogg's secret to productivity. 33:37 -- 40 is asked if he can do a translation of some select 40-Water lingo we've heard on his records over the years. They go on to explore the first time 'fosheezy' was ever mentioned in a song, if 40 takes issue with others using his terms, and how his slanguage has changed the game. They also discuss 40's lack of props from the East while topping the rap charts, the dynamic of the Bay's "emcees" versus "game spitters", and Talib details his trip cross-country to check out The Good Life Cafe. 43:11 -- The group is asked who would be worthy of a potential Mount Eastmore and Mount Southmore. The names of several legends in the game get passed around, and they discuss the importance of chemistry when forming a group aside from just iconic status, as well as dig into the history of the West Coast's underdog attitude that carried over into the group. They also explore the legacy of Cube's sophomore effort, 'Death Certificate' and what went into creating that masterpiece. 54:57 -- Rap's bad rap and the never-ending controversy over lyrics supposedly condoning violence is the topic of conversation. Cube states the importance of people's understanding the context of hip hop's origins, the communities that it birthed from, and the opportunities that the artform has created for so many. $hort goes on to talk about his conscious songs being spotlighted only due to their lack of explicit lyrics and things changing over the years with even more positive rap being fully available but having no industry support. 1:04:51 -- Mount Westmore's song, 'Tribal' is brought up and it's bringing the member's conscious sides into unison as they are asked about their evolution in writing and themes therewithin as they have matured. 40 gives his take on how crucial it is to recognize fact from fiction and how that line has been blurred with this current generation of artists. They discuss how so many youngsters in the game today don't live long enough to gain the wisdom needed to reach the fame they were destined for. 1:15:28 -- The production side of Mount Westmore is discussed as they get into the contributions from veterans of the game like Rick Rock as well as new-comers like Kato On The Track. They explore how Talib almost had the beat that 40 used for 'Yay Area' and 40 passing on the beat for $hort's 'Blow The Whistle'. They also get into the sci-fi themed music video for 'Big Subwoofer', the group making millions from the one single, as well as how touring has changed, with groupies getting turned down. 1:31:54 -- The group is asked if they can speak to their relationship with 2Pac and what he meant to the West Coast. 40 reflects on his history with Pac beginning after the two linked up through their mutual friend Richie Rich and speaks on witnessing Pac's impeccable work ethic first-hand during the recording of 'All Eyez On Me'. $hort goes on to talk about his "big brother" relationship with Pac and also goes into joing N.W.A. for their Straight Outta Compton tour and being by Cube's side when he broke away to go solo. 1:39:51 -- Cube talks about first getting to know Pac while he was part of Digital Underground and reflects on his eagerness at the time to make records of substance and his never-ending energy on tour. $hort speaks on Pac's ability at such a young age of having something meaningful to say every time he was handed a microphone and the group shows love for Boots Riley, Lil Jon, MC Breed and others. In closing the three are asked if they have any advice on growing old gracefully. They discuss the importance of staying true to oneself, the policy of giving more than you take, and living by the golden rule.

Really she was with my home girl Heather Hunter. She had me take her to the Dance floor so everybody could get a good look how fine she was and made me feel like a king when short was like "a player is she with you". Best night of my life it was like being my idols, idol. Snoop all I'm gonna say is Daniel and Orin you probably forgot about the best weed you ever smoked. First off, huge shout out to Kweli, Jasmin and everyone at the People's Party for creating a space where these legends can come, speak openly, share so much and keep it all positive. These men are such living legends. They are responsible for paving so many roads in so many different avenues. Creating some of the best hip hop to every be created. Giving so many people, including myself a soundtrack to our lives that also helped shaped who we have become. Not enough can be said about their accomplishments and contributions to not just hip hop, but to human kind. All love, respect and gratitude these men collectively and individually. Thank you People's Party another fantastic show. Appreciate all y'all do!
4 legends ... had me rolling talking Hip Hop History with the Scorpios, Libras , and Geminis .... that's like a new show right there LOL .... Kweli and Black Thought sharing a Birthday that's like the birth date of supreme lyricists like Cube said
I won't front, it's inspiring to hear Short Dog say he was wiling until he was 38 - because i'm not wiling, but I most certainly don't have it all figured out yet and there's always room to grow so long as you're growing. I feel like the best aspect of this interview is all of the rich game that E-40, Cube, and Short Dog are dropping. A lot of wisdom, a lot of game, a lot of friendship, and a whole lot of legendary dialogue - great episode maybe indeed the best from The People's Party. Thank you, Kweli.
Great episode! Thanks for having them on!! I’m from Cali and ALMOST 47 years old. These guys have been in my life for MOST of it. Huge fan of these guys.
I’m not gonna lie I grew up listening to all these cats in my prime like we are the same age and the see these guys sit here chopping it up chemistry in the Camry it’s gonna be the dope hip-hop group they have live and I don’t think I’ve been to a concertand since I was young, I would go to this one straight up because this is the foundation of West Coast to Me
Man Cube really been in 3 legendary hip hop groups. NWA, WESTSIDE CONNECTION and now MOUNT WESTMORE. so much experience in just one member but the thing is the whole team has stacks of experience behind them too. Combined with E-40, Too Short & Snoop Dogg we really witnessing a hip hop super group with 4 Legendary GIANTS.
At the end of this interview, I definitely felt much more laced wit game, they were all laid back an snug 🤗 where as in the beginning they seemed a bit uptight not knowin wat to expect...glad they placed lots of emphasis on different artists an wat those particular ones meant to them in expressions of luv...I adore the way they give props where props r due an how they describe ppl in general on their own accord accordingly, wit how they preserve them...they did a great interview an maintained their composure...way to go guys!!❤ 🙏
Too Short was local but he wasn't. Growing up in KC, We was listening to Too Short in the 80s and 40 in the early 90s. My youth was listening to every last one of these guys.
Oh dang! I was in 3rd grade and took every penny I had and bought them in a huge pack from Toys R Us. Haha!! I remember it to this day, it was like $72 or $73 dollars. I’m 46 now, and no lie, I still have them in my closet to this day!!
Snoop is the life of hip hop to me. He's new and old at the same time, a remix. E 40 burns every song til this day and this nigga got Louisiana connection
Stepped of the plane, Mean Green and Tony Draper Killa what's the caper Lets make some paper - Ice Cube Wicked Wayz - Mr. Mike ft Ice Cube Legendary interview Kweli SALUTE 💯
Brother Kweli man, you and Jasmin (and her GORGEOUS BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL FACE 😱 OMG) did your damn THANG on this interview! You two did your homework and I can tell y'all are REALLY really fans, of each brother in the Mountain individually, and as a group! This shit is soooo beautiful as an (almost) 44 year old man from the Pacific Northwest!
I don’t appreciate how the Midwest always gets overlooked when it comes to HipHop. The region alone has influenced the game when it come to rappers & producers. and not only that the Midwest has a lot of musical talent even going to the Motown era. Too many to name
Dope interview! Too Short, Ice Cube, E-40, & Snoop (Not Present) straight legendary! Especially, when they talked about Bay Area & L.A. Hip Hop - they mentioned Souls of Mischief, Del, Saafir, Freestyle Fellowship, Mystik Journeymen, etc
I saw Talib in the astral last night and he gave me two cosmic wrist watches that looked nothing like the clicks here and a huge ass crystal with something in the center I couldn't make out, he told me it was for my travels in the astral because I go many places at once and he wanted me to be safe... the travel was ill... thanks for the astral gifts... they saved me from a flood over there... I got up like wow!
This is the first time I've seen E-40 tight, bro. That co-host violated. Chill, sweetie. These men have accomplished a lot to sit at this table. You just got here.
Talib really hit it on the head about us midwest artist, I'm speaking about Chicago, Gary specifically. We're in the middle so we filter everything on It's way across the country. Our roots r deep. We are all of yall....from everywhere
This interview was flat out bananas crazy ridiculous, and so damn dope. I’m only mad that I didn’t find out about this when it first came out. Salute to all you brothers Mr. Kweli and all of Mount Westmore your brothers keep doing what you’re doing.
Tupac was wise beyond his years mainly due to his arduous life experiences, his education, and being raised in The Black Panther Movement💎 He was truly a product of his environment.
Not necessarily a product of his environment because he made it out of that definitely but had pitfalls along the way from things seen an all he had to go thru...ppl were certainly haters of his mind an fed off that negative energy he tried hard getn away from...sad to say he trusted too many ppl who really didn't have his back are best interest at heart but didn't no how to perceive certain ones since he his self was not aware of the surroundings bein blocked by the glitz an glamour which he was sensing it, hence his sayn the media is full of dirty tricks but he should of been more aware....had he been around more positivity he would of made it hands dwn...😢
This is one of the best interviews of the people's party all respect and love to the west coast spitters just wish Snoop was with them. Peace to Talib and Jazz
Man it’s crazy that Tupac is still spoken about and respected. 25 year old man and only a few years of his life were for the world and he’s still a topic of conversation. The GOAT for sure. From 1990-1996, the man IS STILL HERE!
Well did you & everyone else hear what Pac said on his song The Lunatic, You think crack got em hooked wait till they get ahold of me...& The rest is Pac's history...the era of real music & hip hop ..
I love E-40 and I love ice cube I love too short as well those guys have really made a beautiful johnra and wrap they are really icons to look up to respectfully 🤗💯
What a legendary conversation between 4 legends. This is the kinda room hip hop heads want to be in and listen in to. Also we need to get 40 on a Madlib beat, wonder how that would sound
This was Dope Im from Richmond California that’s The Bay Area city that separates Oakland and Vallejo and im the only person born in 84 Too Short my fav rapper and E40 my second I Love this
Being from East Oakland I can relate to all...I grew up on all they music since I was at least 5 I'll be 38 this May 2023. Much love to the big homies 🙏🏽...Short I'm still close to Seminary..moms still remember when you tried to get her to go out with you when y'all was at Fremont High big brah😂😂😂
I think this is the proof of concept that People's Party could have a 'Roundtable' group discussion series with the right people because this was incredible.
Thinking back, they had Coast Contra but that is 1 group of 4 whereas I'm thinking, as I'm everyone else that's up for the idea, is that you various people at once. Russ, Mysonne and Hopsin having a chat about independence and advocacy could be amazing to me. And maybe just have random groups like The Roots and Hieroglyphics together or new school and old school rappers together talking about stuff? Lots of options, no royalties needed lol
tbh I think roundtable style conversations (gotta be with the right group like you said) make for the best podcasts or “interview shows” in general. A lot of platforms are missing out by focusing on the one-on-ones
He’s holding it correctly you’re not supposed to hold it on the body of the cup only at the bottom base to keep the wine from warming up from the palm of your hand ❤
A comedian that can't take jabs as fuel to be funny, is that even a comedian? Talib is too nice to keep her with a job at the expense of not having a comedic relief in his show as he intended to. Some won't like it but thats a good man right there.
Ice cube and rakim and mini more as a beautiful black community family Hip Hop familys we have to stand up for real one nation power to my people's life is real peace 🤘💯🙏🕊️
I need more episodes like this with multiple artists trading stories even if they aren't in a group. I can only imagine if Snoop was there how much longer the episode would have been. Keep it up Talib/Jasmin & crew.
King best west coast rappers, met cube in Chicago at George daniels record store on the westside on Roosevelt cube was with mack10 & Dub, I was drinking st.ides special brews standing in line, so cube homies approached me getting out the limo asked me where the liquor store at real talk lol, met the westside connection in that record store, I always bump these brothers music in my box Chevy, but that 2 short bass have that car bangin' hard, cube gave us knowledge in Amerikkka, E-40 spit game, legends
It's incredible to watch Hip Hop become mature to this capacity. To me, good rappers have always been some of the most brilliant people on earth. I felt that way very early. It was the catalyst to me writing music of my own... but seeing these greats conversing like this & still enjoying themselves is gold. This podcast is doing great work 👏🏾

This are pioneers and Legends in a round table!!
Jazz is awesome ❤a good interviewer indeed jus wishn she would open up more an dnt b so timid...
The older Gen is keeping the game together the young generation needs to step up with ideas
WestCoast Hall of Fame STiLL puttin it down! 🫡

What a legendary conversation between 4 legends. This is the kinda room hip hop heads want to be in and listen in to.
Also we need to get 40 on a Madlib beat, wonder how that would sound

Great interview. Everyone sitting at that table is a legend
Thanks for giving a shout out to MC Breed! Im from Flint MI.
I think this is the proof of concept that People's Party could have a 'Roundtable' group discussion series with the right people because this was incredible.
Complete agree - the show is always great, even with 1:1 convos, but this was another level
Facts
Thinking back, they had Coast Contra but that is 1 group of 4 whereas I'm thinking, as I'm everyone else that's up for the idea, is that you various people at once.
Russ, Mysonne and Hopsin having a chat about independence and advocacy could be amazing to me.
And maybe just have random groups like The Roots and Hieroglyphics together or new school and old school rappers together talking about stuff?
Lots of options, no royalties needed lol
Camera should've been properly set up instead of switching
tbh I think roundtable style conversations (gotta be with the right group like you said) make for the best podcasts or “interview shows” in general.
Next, y'all should interview Freestyle Fellowship.
I'm glad you shouted out Dayton.
E 40 WAS THE STAR UN THIS INTERVIEW MAN CRAZY CRAZY
CUBE was so right 40 was talking his ass off lol
Cube a hater always been. E-40 just has a better personality and people want to hear what he says

I need more episodes like this with multiple artists trading stories even if they aren't in a group. I can only imagine if Snoop was there how much longer the episode would have been. Keep it up Talib/Jasmin & crew.
You got a new sub wit this one👍

Great fun fact about Voltron. The voice you hear in the beginning is Optimus Prime.
So you know Voltron was a bad Muahfkah.

Just some kicking it with the homies talks!! Love it
The last question was the best, 3 dons, eat good and get home safe!
It's incredible to watch Hip Hop become mature to this capacity. To me, good rappers have always been some of the most brilliant people on earth. I felt that way very early. It was the catalyst to me writing music of my own... but seeing these greats conversing like this & still enjoying themselves is gold. This podcast is doing great work 👏🏾
DOPE INTERVIEW
MY GUYS !
"A gift to the World, from yo Uncle Earl" Let it live on
