Graham is a behind the scenes musician with incredible writing skills. Nice.
People, you gotta stop calling everybody who has had a taste of success a " genius " look man, the term, thanks to the likes of you has become so overused it has lost all precision of meaning. It's as daft as saying prince Andrew, oh, he used to be a genius until he got caught. Choose your words carefully dude. Peace out man, GD. Oh and by the way, I am a genius.
Zo zeg ik was vorige week bij een 10CC concert zo genoten zo goed ik was klein toen ik hun nummers hoorde bij de hollies ook gewenst zo fantastisch ik ken elk nummer dankzij mn mn moeder.
Saw 10CC perform in Sydney back in February and they played Dreadlock Holiday and it was so amazing! I really wanted for them to play the full version of Feel The Benefit, but didn't expect them to as its such a long song, they did play it, and I was crying the whole 16 minutes 😭 absolutely insane experience!
One of the most brilliant song writers ever, and we ask you random people on the streat, it is doubtful they ever heard from him. I am proud I had the honor to shake his hand one time.
Just love Graham . This story is great and let’s you in on how songs get written. 10cc we’re a unique band and worth digging into. Very catchy songs. Very clever lads in all. Many thanks for the video. Very enjoyable to watch. See Graham when ever you can or 10cc. Cheers.
Another Albert Hammond wrote some incredible songs, it’s amazing how these gifted people just seem to amaze us. Don’t get the credit they deserve. I’m pretty much up on music and didn’t realise this guy wrote these classics. Thanks
Blimey who would has ever guessed he wrote all those songs but if I had written them I’d give them all up to just have written I’m not in love. That is one of the best songs from the entire history of songs.
He was spot on about the original lineup of 10CC, the original band had the most unique, yet the most fragile chemistry. One misstep could end it. But Graham and Eric were career musicians who knew that 10CC needed to take the next step to make the world stage.
True story- "I'm not in Love" started out with a reggae beat before it was finaly recorded with that somber tone. These guys could play virtually anything!
There's a great documentary on 10cc done recently, and they're instrumental in being behind such things as mtv style video hits and a load of songs for others as well. Definitely a hall of fame band.
Heard it for the first time on a bargain bin cut out tape that cost $2.99. It was just a catchy tune that I couldn't get out of my head. Never knew this guy wrote some of my favorite tunes for other bands. I guess it was a British Hitsville thing.
WHAT i FIND ASTONISHING, IS THE WAY MANY OF THE BIG HITS OF THE 60'S AND 70'S (AT LEAST) CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO A SURPRISINGLY SMALL GROUP OF WRITER'S, WHO WERE MEMBER'S OF FAMOUS BANDS. THEY GENEROUSLY JUST GAVE GREAT SONGS TO THEIR PALS, EVEN LENNON AND MACARTNY DID IT. I WISH THEY COULD RIGHT LIKE THAT TODAY.
They should do a video behind the making of the song - life is a minestrone - some of the lyrics are crazy - they mention cold lasagne in the song - terrific song !
I've believed for years that 10CC was the backing band on Beach Baby by The First Class. Graham Gouldman denied it vehemently via his manager but it sounds just like them, especially the background vocals. Both acts were signed to UK Records too - coincidence?
Honestly, the stuff he wrote... They should have stuck to one style and released all this stuff by themselves. It's amazing stuff. Bus stop especially is a work of genius.
@ The Rolling Troll. I notice that the hit performers of Graham's songs shown here (The Hollies, Herman's Hermits) were young and sang in a fairly high vocal register (tenor ?). I think these voices really boosted his songs. (Not so much The Yardbirds and "For Your Love".) I was thinking Graham's own voice in his youth may have sat lower.
Who did the famous strut in the video? I've tried to copy it but I just can't get it right. Loved Bus top, and my fav from Hermits Herman is My Reservation. 10 CC was one of my favorite bands in High School.
Wow what a great song I herd his on yacht rock on seriousXm. This is the shit and I was interested that I kept looking it and found this. What a great song and to be a real event is so cool. Guess that’s why it’s suck a good song.
Everybody loves a Graham Gouldman record without knowing it!
never knew he wrote one of my favorites - Bus Stop!!
Everybody loves several 10cc songs without knowing it.
He’s written all of my favourite songs and I didn’t even know he existed until now.
What a talented and humble man.
Graham is modest but seriously look at his body of work. Practically untouchable
He's got writer's royalties and hasn't had to live that shitty star's life.
Graham Gouldman...one of the all time greats.
Graham and Eric, Feel the Love... Massive respect.

Graham is a behind the scenes musician with incredible writing skills. Nice.
10cc was a very big part of my early 20s / Loved your guys work. A very humble talented bunch of Lads!
Dreadlock Holiday is one of those songs that somehow grabbed me from the first chord and it's never let go. Has always been one of my favourite songs
So basically this guy is a genius !
Great comment!
without doubt
A pop master-craftsman songwriter. It's a lost art form today.

David Watkins but he is a genius
Wow. 'Bus Stop' is my fav Hollies song. I had no idea the 10cc guy (Graham Gouldman) wrote it. So glad I watched to whole thing. Thanks.
Same here!
dean robert99 I did
Graham also wrote Hollies hit.."Look through any window".
Zo zeg ik was vorige week bij een 10CC concert zo genoten zo goed ik was klein toen ik hun nummers hoorde bij de hollies ook gewenst zo fantastisch ik ken elk nummer dankzij mn mn moeder.
That and No Milk Today are so recognizably written by the same person.
Graham Gouldman is the most Gentleman-esque Musician I've ever met. Twice as it happen. Once when I was 11 and again when I was 35...
He wrote those songs For Your Love, Bus Stop, No Milk Today when he was still a teenager
His father helped him.
Graham Gouldman truly one of my favourite musicians before 10 cc and after Wax and still one of my favourites.
First record I bought.
Did'nt know at the time, I was laying my hand's on a future classic.
One of my favourite song's of all time.
Happy day's !!!

This has blown my mind. What a talent
No way! It's mind-blowing what this guy has written!
I love the way you approach musicians, thank you
In Feb 19, 1986, I played this on In the Groove on Yuva Vani, All India Radio, New Delhi. This week, I was listening to this album in my car!
Thank you for the marvellous music, and the wonderful memories it provokes, Sir.
10CC - Those guys were all incredibly talented. Should've been considered all time greats. Love them
Some of the most talented guys ever.
All of them.
This guy is where it's at. Dreadlock Holiday was his swansong and very underrated. The chord sequence on that song is superb.
He wrote many beautiful songs after Dreadlock Holiday.
Shit, this guy's a genius. I love No Milk Today, it stands out as completely different.
Another Albert Hammond wrote some incredible songs, it’s amazing how these gifted people just seem to amaze us. Don’t get the credit they deserve. I’m pretty much up on music and didn’t realise this guy wrote these classics. Thanks
Amazing! Interesting! And beyond Creative !
OMG i really DID grow up during the best time EVER to be young!!!
Blimey who would has ever guessed he wrote all those songs but if I had written them I’d give them all up to just have written I’m not in love. That is one of the best songs from the entire history of songs.
and The thing we do for love?
I quite agree, an outstanding concept of the song as well as the song and the realisation of the song.
This is one of my favorite Top2000 A Gogos
I love Graham's songs--many are in minor keys...moody and lovely. Heart Full of Soul is one of my faves.
Grahame Gouldman is a musical genius. And 10 cc were a fantastic band. 👍👍👍
I'm envious of his song writing abilities but admire him very much.
I can sing most Hollies songs from beginning to end. Now, in 2020, I know who wrote some of them. You live and learn!
“Deceptive Bends” album cover is a work of art!! One of the best!👍👍👍
He's up there with the Beatles, Ray and Dave Davies and the Stones, brilliant songwriter, as are many current and ex 10cc members.
This was so highlighting for me.. thank you... Now i know... ❤️
This channel is so interesting. So much info you don't get anywhere else. Thank you.
One Of My 3 Favorites By 10CC.
Graham Gouldman deserves much respect! Love all of his music.
So understated without being falsely modest. 10cc a truly great band.
He was spot on about the original lineup of 10CC, the original band had the most unique, yet the most fragile chemistry. One misstep could end it. But Graham and Eric were career musicians who knew that 10CC needed to take the next step to make the world stage.
Is it true where the name is derived from? Seems immature but they were young
True story- "I'm not in Love" started out with a reggae beat before it was finaly recorded with that somber tone. These guys could play virtually anything!
Dreadlock holiday is still used on tv from time to time to promote cricket in Australia.
I love 10cc top band eric Stewart sung groovy kind of love in the mindbenders to .👌
There's a great documentary on 10cc done recently, and they're instrumental in being behind such things as mtv style video hits and a load of songs for others as well. Definitely a hall of fame band.
10CC FOREVER ✌🏽
What an incredible resume of songs. Makes you wish I was a songwriter as well
i like the songs that have an history to tell 👍
Very talented man.
He wrote some of my most favourite songs, that makes him my most favourite songwriter.
"Most" be true, then.
Heard it for the first time on a bargain bin cut out tape that cost $2.99.
It was just a catchy tune that I couldn't get out of my head.
Never knew this guy wrote some of my favorite tunes for other bands.
I guess it was a British Hitsville thing.

Did not know of the Hollies connection, awesome stuff.
National treasure is our lad 🏴👍
Great video thanks for that
great band...still listen to them
I love the video for Dreadlock Holiday
Graham Gouldman,es un talentoso, también formo el grupo de WAX, excelente.
Great story and what a talented dude.
I'm Mandy Fly Me is still my favorite by them.
Great songwriter Graham is. I had no idea he wrote those other songs.
WarmerMusicVideos also Heart Full of Soul and For Your Love
They should do a video behind the making of the song - life is a minestrone - some of the lyrics are crazy - they mention cold lasagne in the song - terrific song !
Anthony Holland There’s a really great 10cc documentary video on UA-cam, just check it out
What a song writing machine this man is!
Some great sixties hits there, I remember them well.
Try his 2017 EP "Play Nicely and Share". .. Brilliant! GG still tours his 10cc and is playing in Ringo Starr's all Starr Band this summer 😎
and Graham is releasing a new album Modesty Presents in March...
Graham, thank you
I would enjoy this if you posted full episodes of this show here. Love musicians talking about what they did.
The rest of the show is a studio program in Dutch, and each show we have two of these kinds of video's.
@@Top2000agogo OK thanks for the reply I would probably still watch it since I understand a bit of German.
I love this series.
Glad to hear it, spread the word!
the songs I did hear on the radio have such clever lyrics and professional arrangement, I wondered why they didn't have more songs.. ha ha.
Very talented man!
Gouldman also wrote Heart Full of Soul (Yardbirds), Listen People (Herman's Hermits), and East West (Herman's Hermits).
This is a really good song.
I always thought the line was " I don't like reggae... I love it".
I always wondered if the story I heard about Justin Hayward being connected to this song was true. Glad it is.
What a huge talent; didn't know that !
What a legend this man is
Gouldman's is a songwriting genius. Today's songwriters are anything but!
Animalypics is still my favorite of his creations.
Their cold lasagne song was also very good. :)
Do you mean: "Life Is A Minestrone".
I've believed for years that 10CC was the backing band on Beach Baby by The First Class. Graham Gouldman denied it vehemently via his manager but it sounds just like them, especially the background vocals. Both acts were signed to UK Records too - coincidence?
GOULDMAN.............GENIUS...........nuff said,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Brilliant❤
Clever, Clever Man
I remember Mr.Graham singing in Wax : Right Between the Yes , else of the 10 CC .
Honestly, the stuff he wrote... They should have stuck to one style and released all this stuff by themselves. It's amazing stuff.
Bus stop especially is a work of genius.

For all these years since that song came out, I never new it was CRICKET they didn't like. I always thought they were saying "breaking" or "reggae".
They sing "cricket", "Reggae" and "Jamaica".
Songwriting machine.
Fun song Graham wrote that very catchy was Sunburn.
Fantastico
great band
wow, so he was a great song wirter before 10cc
I always thought the lyric was “I don’t raggae, I love it”
Bus stop was brilliant. No milk today was even more so. Dreadlock holiday impressed me as an 9yo
Who did the famous strut in the video? I've tried to copy it but I just can't get it right.
Loved Bus top, and my fav from Hermits Herman is My Reservation.
10 CC was one of my favorite bands in High School.
