I think I'm a good example and proof that it doesn't matter where you grow up you can still make it. Trust and believe. But for real anyone got a dollar I can hold I get paid on Tuesday.

    Afternoon. UA-cam researching Muskegon. As wife's best friend possibly moving to Muskegon. She's a retired woman. Looking into Nelson Place complex. I'm a #NavyVeteranKorea, retired county sheriff. Wife was lead R.N, Michigan Veterans Facility/Old Soldiers Home-Grand Rapids. This woman was one of wife's beloved L.P.N.'s. We live in Grand Haven. She lives in Grand Rapids. My experiences of Muskegon is mixed. Good ,bad. But factually Muskegon, Muskegon Heights was a historic hard working community. It seems to be changing for the better too. Since the late 60s. What GOOD do you have to say about YOUR community? I seek to understand your goal,purpose of this video? Note,,,, (Wife's also a history buff on West Michigan towns,cities.) Muskegon Heights itself historically was the "East Grand Rapids " of Grand Rapids in the 30s,40s,50s. Guess I'm popping in here at length. To see if YOUR community wishes to grow, improve? As seems there is lots of investments occurring last couple years. Let's Talk.

    • @2525MLD
      @2525MLD  2 роки тому +1

      Muskegon has come a long way from than to now and still growing for the better. As it is in many states/ cities there’s good neighborhoods and bad neighborhoods. All depends on how fat ur pockets are ( money ) to which one can live comfortably without all the violence but the less fortunate ones are the ones suck in the hood which causes problems a lot for the innocent or sumtymes not so innocent.
      There’s no activity around to help occupy their tyme . In my opinion probably would cut down on a lot of violence, given the community sumthing to look forward to instead of looking forward to hanging out on street corners plotting and planning their next move. The city it self isn’t bad at all, it’s just certain neighborhoods that gives Muskegon a bad name. By the way Nelson is a good neighborhood I think u would like it. Thank u so much for ur feed back.

      @@2525MLD Thanks for replying Sir. (I'm an old Curmudgeonly fart n just woke up here,lol. At 87 I sleep at odd times.) On your remark about activities for young people. To keep them focused away from getting into trouble? I agree. My eldest daughter (62) decades ago bought a home in inner Grand Rapids. [Baxter Neighborhood] . Restored an old house over the yrs. I was horrified at 1st. Scared for her. In the era of the Wealthy Street gang n Baxter Boys gangs. 1980s. If you are familiar with those times in GR? But she hung in there. Looked out for the Wee Ones n genuine hard working neighbors . Plus got involved in getting GR to fund via tax increases better parks-activities, evening places for teens to gather safely, etc. [Every tax increase hit her but she felt it was worth it in the long run.] Neighborhood grants for interest free home improvement loans or outright forgivable loans. For her area. Somehow she saw the possibilities of that old neighborhood. I hope Muskegon ,Muskegon Heights too continue on this upward climb. Yes that Midtown,Nelson area does visually seem to be a nice blend of old, new,history ,cultures, ages,etc. Now decades later in GR my one daughter is the "Old Lady" sort of in her Baxter Neighborhood, lol. But she's happy. Nice talking. Take care.
