Must've taken YEARS to fill. Their belongings were to be put in storage. Lets just say the jars found a new home. Not mine, but I did turn a blind eye. Still crosses my mind to this day how dirty that was. Stuff like that is a common occurrence

I work at day labor moving people many times, there are many companies besides moving companies who use day labor employees to help them do the job cause they need more help, at the day labor places there are many thieves n drug addicts who work there, this is one place these kind of people can get hired at
And these day labor employees sometimes steal the peoples possessions at their home
People dont trust just anyone at work places who come into your home, cause many thieves work at companies besides day labor
With moving your possessions do it yourself if you can, if not move your valuables n other items you need n cant be replaced n let the moving company move the rest

That’s why at our age, it was still more cost effective to rent our own moving truck, hire 3 people to load the furniture, paid a friend his airline ticket to fly back so he could drive the moving truck as we followed with our 2 vehicles. Then hired 3 people to unload once we arrived at our destination. It took 1.5 days (we stopped to rest over night) but at least ALL of our items got to our destination at the same time we arrived. We read too many horror stories about moving companies! Please be careful and aware of what’s going on.

That’s a great policy but it’s not always possible if your high value, irreplaceable items aren’t small enough to fit and be carried with you. For example, I couldn’t move my mama’s pride and joy grand piano in my car. Insurance would pay to replace it in theory but it was a custom made piano she used for church performances and what she played when recording a song with her favorite gospel singer. I’ve been in the military and moving every 2-4 years as a result for over 25 years now; military families know more about moving than anyone on the planet and sadly we know our household goods are going to be moved by the lowest bid company. Even still, I’ve never had my entire 25,000 LB shipment disappear, much less due to criminal activity. That’s next level and not at the forefront of anyone’s mind when hiring movers.

And you talk about it and people’s response is “it’s just stuff”. Tell that to the people that lose their livelihoods in house fires. All these years later and I still think about the things I’ll never get back. The gifts and letters from childhood friends, my feather collection I amassed from every place I ever lived, my art work, my sculptures, my jewelry, my stuffed animals, furniture, things I worked and saved up for, gaming systems. All gone. They aren’t just “material things” that are being stolen. They’re relics, physical manifestations of people’s memories. At 54 with medical issues, I rented a 15’ Penske Truck and moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Los Angeles, California. By myself, I moved a living room, bedroom, dining room, library, music studio, baby grand piano, dining room, kitchen items, shoes clothes, portable washer and dryer, etc., all by my damn self. I spent about $2,000 with insurance on the truck minus gas. I moved all in $400 per month storage, flew back to Atlanta, picked up my car, and drove back to LA, and did I say, all while homeless? Bottom line, get off your asses and do it yourself. What good is having friends and family if they can’t help you move? I didn’t have any help, but I made it 💯🙏🏿👍🏿

I'm wondering if any of these people had insurance. Most moving companies have $5000 initially and a person can purchase more. If so, file a claim. It's interstate theft, so I believe a report should be filed with the FBI. As well as the police where the load was picked up and one where it was to go to. I would file a complaint and said I had firearms, explosive devices and see how long it took the government to find my load.

This is so common in the moving company industry. A lot of the online 'retailers' pawn off the contract on another company, usually with a bad rep. That company can then also subject the customer to litany of unwarranted charges, fees, and nonsense including damaged goods due to unprofessional staff and transport. If customer puts up a fight to these unlawful practices, the company then deems the customer as a non-payment, and starts the 'we're holding all your stuff in storage' fiasco, thus accumulating more fines and fees for the client. It's a scam, plain and simple. Call law enforcement, and remember these guys change company names and profiles to evade legal repercussions.

7 to 21 days was the first red flag. Reputable movers NEVER give that kind of approximate date of arrival. Reputable movers know exactly where your stuff is enroute, within reason. I hate it when flakes screw military people especially. It's a shame they don't show the faces and workers involved in the scam. Was a time when the armed forces had a list of reputable moving companies that were honest. First sign of a problem, the company would have lost all those potential military personnel, moving, relocating, retiring or separating from the military.

There is absolutely no way you can move across country for the prices in this story. You can pause the video and read the contract on the people that moved from Victorville, Ca to Ohio. They were billed $2500 for a cross country move, how they thought this was even close to being legit is beyond me. Did they not get estimates from other moving companies? If they did they would have seen that quote is well below market price and that should have raised a red flag. My company routinely sends freight (furniture) from Ohio to California and we spend just over $6000 a trip. I feel sorry for these people got screwed over, but when a deal is to good to be true it probably is.

Never use a broker, always use a national farm. When you use a broker it’s hard to file a claim when things are broken. They will break things in lies so they didn’t break it because the claim goes against them and that’s if nothings messing.

Most times people don't know they're using a broker. I didn't. They used the name of a reputable company and I had no clue until afterwards.

You really do get what you pay for. A reputable company will pack for you to ensure nothing breaks, tag everything with barcodes, give you an inventory and keep thou updated of delays. Yes this is going to cost you thousands, but if you want to be cheap about it, rent a uhaul and do it yourself. Also never leave valuables with a moving company. A reputable one will ask you to declare the valuables for insurance reasons.

That's why you think before you leap. If a company has several negative reviews do your research and find out why.

This is not a one company thing - This is a country wide scam, I hired a company called “Mover Dudes” out of Florida and they are doing the same scam. They collect 2/3 of the money and dump your stuff in a storage unit and never deliver. The US motor carrier has jurisdiction and no other law enforcement will touch, ironically the Federal Motor carrier division is a civil group - they have no law enforcement power. We need a federal law change or this will never stop!
