I’ve been using this box for almost two years, it’s held up great with two cats using it in my 500 sqft. Guests never notice it is a box, and it’s easy to clean daily.
I purchased this litter box and used regular cheap acrylic paint from Michaels, mixed with baking soda and it looks much better! Definitely elevated it to look like an antique vase/pot rather than cheap plastic. I ditched the fake plant & grass and bought moss from Michaels and put that on the top. If i were to do this again, i would try to find a patch of moss or grass rather than loose crumbles of moss because my cat does dig in it and make a mess
Thank you for sharing your experience with this litter box! Again, I love hearing about the ways people have elevated this box-your creativity is great!
Exactly the video I needed ! Thank you 🙏 ☺️
I own two of these because I had two large boy cats (18 and 22 lbs.). I really like these litter boxes. Yes, they are a bit cheesy-looking, but they get the job done! After one of the boys had an intestinal issue, I started using plastic garbage bags as litter box liners, which works great!
Everything Mallory said, I agree with, from the way you have to put on the lid to how tall it is. I got mine at least 8 years ago, possibly 10, so perhaps the dimensions have changed, but my cats have no trouble turning around in these boxes, possibly because it’s round. Her boxes far more plastic leaves (fronds?) than mine do.
They serve my purposes quite well. When company comes over, I move the opening 6-8 inches from the wall facing away from doorway (rather than a corner) of a spare bedroom. No one knows it’s there. I can see how spray-painting would help it fit in with your decor. These are NOT small boxes by any means!
Thats amazing
Thank you for your ability to be so creative. I really appreciate that you put thought and research that reflects on your love for your cats. Thank you for taking the time to help fellow cat lovers!!! Happy Holidays!!
Ikr
Aww, thank you, and happy holidays to you as well!
My cat loves this litter box. I have had it for two years and two apartments. I like it because it’s smaller and, keeps in the smell
However it does have a problem with tracking of the litter even with a litter mat
I've noticed they now have litter bags specifically made for this litter box. I'm going to give them a try.
It seems to me this would make a better cat nest than a litter box.
Considering how they love boxes and so on, throwing a plush fleece blanket in there would be something they would like. 👍
THANKS FOR THE IDEA!
That’s exactly what I use mine for. I threw a camping pillow and a blanket in there and it makes a great little nest that’s still big enough for my big boi
Great idea, Moggridge! Thanks for sharing.
I have heard of people using them this way. My cats love to play in boxes, too, but they don't tend to sleep in them. The prefer my bed, chairs, and lap for that. 😸
That's a Great Idea 😊
Good march. May God help you for this noble work
I bought this since the only good spot for my litter box is in view on my work calls. Its been the only litter box for the last 1.5 years. It’s been great but will note my cat is on the smaller side and she’s been using it since she’s a kitten! I made some modifications though: painted it white and bought a nicer / more realistic plant twig (fiddle leaf fig). I also bought a round feeder bucket while also using litter liners instead of placing the litter right in it. Also, use a rounded litter scoop! It’s great for us!
I just received this a week ago! I love it for my cat. He likes to urinate on the very front of the little box and sometimes its really hard to clean in the corners. This litter box’s round shape is perfect for cleaning ease.
CONGRATULATIONS
which kind of litter do you use and how about tracking issues? Tx
@@vanillacat5174 thank you! Sometimes finding a product my cat enjoys is so exciting. He can be rather finicky sometimes and honestly rather pee on a plastic bag somewhere lol but this litter box seems to be the favorite out of the three boxes we have.
Thank you for your review of this litter box. I'm still trying to decided where I want my cat litter box to be (right now I have it in the kitchen by the trash can because that is the only place in the house with enough room) and was thinking about this one. I don't think I would consider this for a litter box but might for a cat bed
Thats cool!
I have a relatively small living space (think in terms of a studio apartment or bedsit), and multiple cats. Multiple cats means multiple boxes, and I gave up on open boxes years ago, for several reasons. For one thing, most do nothing to protect walls and furniture from cats who "pee high." For another, one of my cats prefers to have her box off the floor. Setting one of these planter-type boxes on top of my dog's kennel, which looks a lot like an end table, is a perfect solution for her, and a very efficient use of limited floor space, as well, so efficient, in fact, that I now have one on an actual end table, as well, in addition to two on the floor.
It's true that the boxes are a little flexible, and yes, it might take a moment to line up the top and bottom. I find this a small price to pay. The foam filter is useless, and the straw-looking nesty bits didn't work out well for me, either: my cats just played with them, scattering them everywhere until I threw them out. The box looks fine without them, and frankly, if you need a filter to control odor, your litter box isn't clean enough, anyway.
Aesthetics: I would not face the opening to the wall. These are litter boxes, and I'm not trying to hide the fact that they are litter boxes. They're just a bit more attractive (and tidier) than most. I've seen pictures of these boxes that have been painted different colors, had more plants added, you name it. While they are not items I would select solely on the basis of their beauty, they certainly don't look any worse than a standard litter box.
The litter: Clumping litter does tend to stick. One way of dealing with this is to get a curved scoop. Another is to try a different litter. I use horse bedding. It's basically the same thing as Feline Pine, except that a 40 lb. bag costs about $6.50 at the local farm store, as opposed to at least twice that amount for half as much when it's marketed as cat litter. It's cheap, far more sustainable than litters made of bentonite clay (most of them), does a great job of controlling odors, and doesn't stick to the box. at. all. While it's not "scoopable," you can still remove solid waste between litter changes, just like people did for years before scooping litter came on the scene.
I know my cat would have loved this cat litter box!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving 😊
how cool 😀
I did consider this for a while because I have a 2-story home and an open floor plan downstairs, so there’s no place to hide a litter box on the first floor. But I saw it in person and I thought the price wasn’t justified. My kittens don’t mind going upstairs to use their regular boxes, I’m simply not sure if they would adapt to a covered box anyway. And they will be big cats (Ragdolls) so I’ll consider it only if the price comes down. Manufacturing seems a bit shoddy. Thanks for the review!
My favorite discreet litterbox is a storage bench with a hole in the side, you can just lift up the top and clean the litterbox inside of it and all the litter and smell is kept inside the bench. Can just sit in the entryway hallway or a closet.
Yes, I love those, as well! We plan to review litter box furniture soon, so we'll definitely share some of those in that video.
That's an awesome idea 💯👍🏼 my cat is messy with his litter box.. 🤣
Ikr
Lol, have the exact same planter litter box and couldn't agree more to it's flimsiness while carrying it. My dad sprayed flex seal inside and it helped a good bit making it stronger. Not to the point worth buying a can but if you have some laying around give it a go.
Good tip! Thanks for sharing, Natalie.
This is the litter box that I have! I love it except for the fact that since it’s plastic it does retain smells. It’s so large and has so much space for the cats and it just really makes the space look intentional!
I love how you used the word "intentional" to describe the effect on the space-absolutely true. Thanks for sharing!
If they offered this where I live, I would buy it (for areas where my guests wouldn't notice it as much). Making things less embarrassing and for some reason my largest cat doesn't mind going in the small litter box that we have. I think it's rather cute looking, and who expects a plant to grow perfectly from the middle, so actually it appears like a real plant. Thank you for the review. 🙂
Order online. Amazon or Chewy.
Here's my experience, I've been using this litter box for the past 3 years and now I have 3 of them, I also have 3 cats. There's a newer updated version that comes with rocks and a better looking plant versus the moss. The moss was not ideal, my cats were eating it. Long story short, this is why it works for me. I have one cat who aims really high, none of the open square litter boxes worked for me. None of them were high enough to catch the pee. This littler box works for me because it's high enough and enclosed. The only issue with this is that although it doesn't leak outside, it does leak into the groove which makes it difficult to clean. Not impossible but not easy. It holds pee there and if you don't clean it, it will start to smell. I usually wedge a clean paper towel into the groove to clean it out. But overall my cats don't mind that it's facing a wall.
Please review litter mats. Appreciate so much this video.…I believe there is a strong demand for camouflaged litter boxes considering the growing condo apartment market. This and tasteful cat trees/climbing structures; we need creative minds at work.
Yes! Stylish cat items are definitely a growing category for exactly that reason (plus we have more fashion-oriented people coming into cat ownership). We plan to review litter mats in the near future. Thanks!
Are you going to do a litter mats reviuw and I find a litter that 5kg last for three months which is craizy 🤯stay healty and safe 💞
That's the plan!
Review PetAg High Calorie Gel Supplement for Cats or any High Calorie gel for cats. Thanks!
I've only had a cat for a month now and I have only had a sifting box with pine litter (My cat uses it without a fuss) I can't imagine using anything else since you are just spending more money on litter.
Could you please review the Brit Pet litter trays? Its a litter tray designed for wood pellets
Sure, we'll consider it! Thanks.
Could you review the tuft & paw litter boxes? They're SO expensive.
If you've already done one, I'm about to look through the channel to find it 😊
Hi! I did review the tuft + paw Cove litter box in our latest video on the best litter boxes: ua-cam.com/video/2dKpDsuS7UM/v-deo.html
(The link is timestamped, so it'll start at the tuft + paw segment.)
Could you review Dr. Marty’s Nature’s Feast Cat Food? Im interested to know your opinion on it. Thanks!
Already did! Here's the review: ua-cam.com/video/qVU9gAXva2Y/v-deo.html&
Thank you. I was looking at this.
We are looking at getting a cat and I am having a stressful time deciding on a litter box. Would love automatic but also don’t want to spend a fortune. Any suggestions on excellent budget friendly boxes. We are in a small space so nothing too large and ideally a covered box but I understand not all cats like them. I’ve watched several of your videos but not all yet. Any suggestions and tips for us? We are also in Canada so hopefully something readily available to us. Any guidance appreciated.
Hi there! It does sound like litter box furniture or something like the Good Pet Stuff box shown here would be a good match for your needs, but if that's too expensive, something simple like the So Phresh covered box might work. www.amazon.com/So-Phresh-Geometric-Covered-Regular/dp/B08B58F3D
What microphone do you use because it sounds like a great quality
It's a Sennheiser MKE 400 on-camera shotgun mic.
On this second day from Thanksgiving, I now have something new for which to be thankful ... enough space in my home to be able to use regular litter boxes and avoid this goofy attempt at a hidden potty.
:)
When will you make live?
Would love to know what you think about the luuup sifting litter box
We'll consider it for a review soon!
Hey mam.....I just wanna ask you one'thing......I just adopted a kitten her eyes are open she got a lot of fleas and ticks so i cleaned her but the time I found her she hasn't poo once but she's peeing I tried poo simulation alot of time for couple of minutes but no results and she's having milk in very low amount
Hello
Hi! Can you review the Tiki Cat Raw food line!? They won’t publicly discuss the phosphorus levels and insist on emailing it privately to all asking. I’d like to get your thoughts overall!
Oh, that's very interesting! I've not yet looked into their raw food line, but the tight lipped-ness regarding phosphorus raises a red flag. I've noticed a similar issue with Stella & Chewy's, which is very cagey about phosphorus content. We'll do a video on raw food in the near future, and we'll definitely consider them for a place in that one. Thanks for commenting!
@@AllAboutCatsYT thanks so much! We’re interested to get your thoughts before we give it a go! Looking at their “baby” lineup for our new Maine Coon but I’m put off for sure! Those comments asking about the phosphorus are in their review section under the Raw line on their website in case you wanted to take a peek at their replies. Very sketch! “We choose to not share this info publicly and will email it” 🥴
do you guys have any advice on how to catch a STRAY cat that’s not necessarily interested in food? our cats are indoor/outdoor, and the stray cat tends to cause problems for our cats like fighting. we’ve caught him before by luring him with food, but he escaped somehow and now no longer falls for the food trap trick. he comes close to us, but then backs and runs away when we approach him slowly, he USED to trust us, but for some reason stopped trusting us, and he visits our house often, so we’d like to catch him and get him fixed up and maybe turn him into one of our pets. so, do you guys have any tips?
Have you tried sardines for trapping or using a new trap that he isn't use to yet? I used sardines for trapping Sami and he couldn't resist the smell.
Could you use a carrier or crate with something smelly for food and sit away from it, have a string attached to the door so if he goes in can swing it shut from further away or try a drop trap! Lots of videos on drop traps.
Have you tried the pura max or pura x litter box?
We'll be releasing a review very soon!
Wondering why there are no big litter boxes that are also extra wide?
It's a good question. I think that there are a combination of factors-one is that the market demand isn't keeping up with our understanding of what is healthiest for our cats, meaning that most people find narrower litter boxes preferable in terms of space and aesthetics. The second is that as things get bigger, they become more expensive to package and ship, so it's probably just more economical for companies to make smaller litter boxes, whether that involves restricting width or making them small in general.
Mallory is just the best 🥵
Can I grow a vegetable garden from my cats litter?
Why did you even like this hahahaha
No... Cat poop is usually "toxic". And one should not use carnivore waste to composed, too many deseases.
Don’t use poop from animals that eat meat for compost. It’s not safe to eat the food then. Typically we use horse/cow/bird poop (chicken poop is great). There’s a risk of diseases being transmitted from cat poop.
@@Janopooh Cause it’s a good question that elicits conversation in the comments
@@Janopooh Because you're funny! And yes, as the other commenters have so helpfully pointed out, it's not advised that you try to grow a garden from your cat's litter. Cat poop isn't great compost, and cat litter (unless for some reason, you're using a good, fertile soil as litter) isn't a good growing substrate anyway. 😹
Do you think they could then confuse potted plants as a litter box?
It's a good question, but I think the answer is generally no. Cats primarily identify their litter box by smell, so I don't think the visual appearance of the litter box would have much of an effect.
@@AllAboutCatsYT thank you! I was wondering because we couldn’t let my kitten have her bed For a while because they were both squareish so we thought she was mistaking it for her potty. Maybe it was a territorial thing?
I just like the old style open litter boxes, this seems too complicated.
Have you tried Trader Joe’s cat food?
How old is mallory? Shes a pretty and awesome whyte girl
😃😃
whats with ur cats belly?
It’s called the ‘primordial pouch’. All cats have them, though some only have small ones so you might not notice, big cats have them too. They’re theorized to be for for storing extra food/fat and for providing extra stretch for when cats are running and let them be more flexible.
@@mxbones9245 thanks!
As Mx Bones said, it's a primordial pouch. This pouch helps to protect the internal organs, too-helping the cat to survive an attack on their sensitive underside. Wessie's primordial pouch is the largest I've seen, and it's gotten saggier with age. He may well be a record-setter in terms of tummy sag. :)
The fact that people are more concerned about their home decor and if looks nice than their cat annoys me
I never turn my hidden plant to the wall, my toilet doesn’t face the wall lol so equal rights in my home, dnt like the look. GET OUT ! 😁
I wouldnt buy it!
I just can’t agree with you an open litter box is not for me and not sure why anyone would want to see their cats take a dump. Yes your cats might feel more safe but your nose and eyes wont feel anymore safer.
