I’m weird so I looked up if police could do any of this. Turns out no, they can’t. They can ask you where you live, where you’re going, what you’re doing, or for your phone number, but you can easily say that you choose to exercise your right to remain silent. They cannot search your phone unless they have a warrant. Just something I decided to look up 💀
Yea but be careful of how you reject them because if you refuse all they have to say is they had reasonable suspicion and then will exercise their power to search you against your will and detain you/arrest you.

My excuse to the cop: I’m an insomniac out for a long night walk because I can’t sleep and air of the nice quiet city at night is very peaceful to me but sometimes I like to walk with a friend, my friend’s name is Eve, I call her E for short as in inside joke, and she was asking if I wanted her to bring the same stuff as usual, the stuff being beverages. She usually brings water, but sometimes she’ll bring a coke or a Sprite or something. We walk and talk until about dawn and then head back, but we usually meet halfway between our houses because we live far apart. Also walking is better than driving.
Rookie mistake, obviously when you see an officer you shout “QUICK OFFICER I SAW SOMEONE MAKING MOUTH SOUNDS GO DOWN THAT ALLEY!!”

Remember kids, do not talk to a police officer unless there is a lawyer present, they may want to make it seem like an admission of guilt but it is completely legal to refuse to speak to an officer. The only thing you should be saying is that you would like a lawyer
unless you have the money to get a lawyer every time you get pulled over just do what the cop says, making his job harder is just gunna get you a ticket or arrested every time. shit advice for any competent person tbh.
@@Syndromedown1776 If you are pulled over, ask the officer why they pulled you over, if it is for speeding never answer the question "do you know how fast you were going?" with a number, instead ask the officer how fast you were going cause I can assure you that they definitely know. The second thing to ask is, "am I being detained" if the answer is no carry on with your day, if the answer is yes ask for their reasoning for detaining you and figure it out from there. If they proceed to arrest you that is when you should stop talking or saying anything other than they you want a lawyer and if you don't have one (and are in the US) one shall be provided to you. And if a police officers reason for giving you a ticket is because you "made their job more difficult" then it would hold no ground in the court of law and would be easily refutable, my apologies for giving a blanket statement when your one situation oh so crumbles my previous statement

You do not have to answer a cop's questions ("I don't answer questions." works well as a canned response.) You do not have to give the cop your phone. You cannot be compelled to unlock your phone via code (but you CAN be compelled to unlock it via biometrics if they're searching you).

The fact that I made up an an entire story on the fly 😭 Apparently I’m a student that comes from a big family, I have exams today and the house was so loud with family getting ready for work and such that I got woken up. When I couldn’t fall back asleep I decided to go for a walk to clear my head, got too absorbed in thought and walked out farther than I intended.
E is my partner for a science project and the “spot” being referred to was the science section of the library that no one goes to. The “stuff” was snacks for study breaks that they pick up from the store by our school.
