I’m nowhere near ready for top souls, but this video has so much of what I needed to hear in it..I can’t thank you enough really. I just started skating over the summer and this is a journey I’ve been on alone so far. Finding your channel changed that for me and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thanks for being here 🙏🏻 ❤

This speaks to much to me. The fight with yourself when you go skating. The doubts when you get hurt and you're asking yourself why you're doing this, but yet once you feel better you go back at it. I'm skating at 45, got back at rollerblading 2 years ago. Some days I feel so stiff and despondent, some other days I actually skate better than when I was 25. I've got a lot of dream tricks goal, I'm pretty sure I'll get them eventually.

Seems like it’s applied for every difficulty in our life 😊

I just wanted to say, you have the same issue I have with top souls. I spin left, but my topside foot is my right, so getting into position is extremely awkward. After watching this video, I went to the park and tried switch. Landed it first try. Then after a couple of those (and some practice spinning right) I tried a normal top soul and stuck it. Now I’m sliding them on coping and having a blast doing it. I wanted to thank you for your videos, not only have them helped me, but my 8 year old daughter who is learning to skate. Keep it up!

We’ve got so much room for growth with change being inevitable, might as well start programming “there is always another solution to be thought of.” I’m with you. Let’s keep having a blast at the park. Hope your daughter is enjoying the ride.

I had the same problem as you! I'm right foot dominant and I learned sweat stance and kind grinds before top soul. Since I naturally rotate to the left, my brain just went haywire learning top soul. I ended up using my left leg for top soul as it feels much more natural with my rotation. I 'm still learning to do it with my right foot as of now 😅

I felt every single word you said, I’m now struggling with this trick because my strong foot it’s not in the same direction as I spin, and it feels better doing switch, or even get into the coping with true top soul but it’s hard to stand.
Now I’m confused, i don’t know which side I should practice first. As you did, my first topside trick was kind grind And I’m on toporn now. Just to understand where my body goes when I’m grinding.
Thank you for let me know I’m not the only one, it’s a long process but with determination and patience, I’ll gradually see my progression ❤
    Big hugs Coco 🤗

Hi Massiel! It sounds like we have very similar movement. I say and only because this was my process too, stay with what feels natural. Switch soul foot is great to start breaking in… now that switch topsoul foot clicked for me, I have switch soul grinds and switch alley-oop souls. And if true spin feels right, full send baby!!! I want to unlock that trick with confidence as well. That’s a good looking and probably better feeling trick to have on lock. Over time I think you’ll come back to your regular top soul foot and put it exactly where it’s supposed to be. There’s no need to feel inadequate with how you’re learning. It’s the perfect way and as long as YOU know you’re progressing all in good time, you’ll further dominate your mind. Body, mind, spirit- one. Let’s push until they’re all working together, on the same page. We’ve got this! Let’s keep going. I’m hyped, thank you for sharing, for being here.

Thanks for believing in your students. I will do my best to not let you down. But as a humble human I must accept that life is hard and I will need a lot more time to learn most of this. For now I am so happy I finally can do frontside(only if obstacle is on the right side) and royale(only if obstacle is on my left). As I started at the beginning of this year and only used my stock flat frame and originally, I never intended to learn any grinds. I wanted to skate Vert like the Pros I was watching in the end of the 90s :). Now I have accepted my flat frames will be kept for my Bowl and Vert attempts and I am waiting on my new frames that I totally copy pasted from my favorite teach. My biggest problem is I can not roll on a ramp with my wheels throw the coping. Maybe my wheels are too small maybe my skills are not there. But that is what I am working on now. I have to jump on or else my front wheels bump in to the coping and I fall. But I can figure this out. Just wanted to let you know your tutorials are amazing and the vibes are well received. I promise next time I go to the park I will kiss the concrete and hug that rail with my shims and that rail will become my best friend, friends don't make each other bleed right, it will be fine we will have a great time with that rail. I will clean it and wax it, then after we are done, we will both giggle to the skater boys that are slipping out of their grinds. Can't wait to go to the park again. Thank you for your inspiring work.

Hi! Firstly, thank you for being here and for sharing your thoughts with me! I hear you. Next time you try to roll over the coping, try picking up your toes, just a little bit. Like a tiny hop almost. Most of us without thinking about it, lift our toes. I definitely don’t ever just fully roll over into a ramp that has coping on it with my weight evenly distributed in my boot. Practice this over a crack, or a line on the ground. Lift your toes to get over it. It’ll be quick. Conjure your inner warrior. You’ve got it!
I feel it! Life is better when we get to simply roll around. Adding tricks is just a bonus. There’s so much to be grateful for. We can do anything we train our mind to do. Let’s keep going brother. Until we can’t anymore. Right now.⚡️

two of the best tips for topsides, firstly, for newbs, use the non top side foot to catch yourself if you mess up. after that practice them expecting not to lock on and dont fall. this means if you miss the lock you wont fall and thats a huge advantage. worse case scenerio is you end up doing a sess. this is especially helpful for ledges with fishes or tru fishes. the trick is to get the right body position so practice on ledges to get familiar with missing the lock and not falling, just like sess sliding if your upper body isnt balanced over youre feet youll end up slide out and falling

Hey Tim, thanks for the thoughts and the extra pointers. You never know who might read this and it better click for them. Sounds like all of your weight is on your front foot? I feel like that’s sort of what I was explaining as well with your topside foot being light. It helped me anyway. Thanks again for your feedback. I am grateful for your time.

Great video. Hoping the best for you guys and your channel! The instruction and spirit behind the videos are so encouraging and enlightening. I've learned so much from your videos. The analysis of the tricks and body position, weight distribution, and angles etc all really help in aiding the conquering of each of these tricks.. I dislocated my finger last month trying to back farv a rail that I shouldn't have, at least not at the time, and have been on the mend since. Cant wait to get back on the boots!

Hey Jon, thank you for expressing your thoughts here with me. Your feedback is equally as encouraging and keeps the light lit within. I am grateful to share time with each other. Tweaked fingers are no fun man. My ring finger is just now feeling normal after a dislocation or bad jam. It popped back so I figured it was dislocated but it’s taken 3 months to feel normal lol! Fingers are just aggravating because we’re always smackin them throughout the day. Haha, just thinking about this last recovery process. Some lost patience a couple times there. Well, I’m glad I can break it down easier for you. We all learn in different ways. Remember those strong legs next time you go for the rail. If you squat strong and look down at the end of it, you’ll ride it out! I believe in you! Can’t wait for you to lace it.

Do you carry the weight on the topside or soul foot? Or is it evenly distributed?

    • @flowersherolls1700
      @flowersherolls1700  2 роки тому +1

Hi. Your topside and your soul foot are the same. Unless you skate as I do and your switch soul foot feels better for topsoul because of the natural way I spin.
Now that I have both ways, •my weight is EVENLY distributed on my switch side. BOTH feet carry my weight.
My regular soul foot is much heavier on its topside. Because for me, getting into regular sided topsoul it more difficult, my weight is less controlled and is clunkier.
      I hope that makes sense.
      Thanks for asking! Get it!👊🏼

Just joined the channel. Was she in the xgames or something? I like the fact how she warms up with some basic stalls. To be great at something you must know that you can do all the right moves as well as all the basics. Back to basics always helps you perfect in other areas. Well that's what I think 🤷‍♂️ unfortunately for me I've missed all those basics and jumped into the grinds and now I'm trying to go back. I'm gonna watch her videos it's very informative.

So you use switch and regular to describe spin direction above all other aspects that might make tricks a challenge. I would call a regular trick the trick that felt most natural, the opposite trick is switch. Hence people begging for extra competition points when raising fingers for switch tricks. I would call your anti-clockwise spin to left-footed top soul your regular.

Hi. Thanks for sharing your thoughts👊🏼That make sense to me. I was simply stumped on it for years without ever thinking I could use my switch soul foot as my topside. 270 topside soul is my regular soul foot and feels just as natural as switch. I don’t know. But again, thanks for picking my brain further.
