    Probably one of the best, straight forward reviews I’ve seen on a machine. Have a brute now , but I think one of these is in my future! Keep up the great videos 🤙🏻

      The Brute's are awesome machines and very reliable but still can't compete with the Big XMR's! I loved by Brute but really love the power of this machine! Glad you enjoyed the vid, thanks for watching Rob!

      All depends on what you use it for...the Reliability will suffer on either machine when you use it like I do. If it's just for trails, I'd go with the XT Can Am or something like that. It'll handle some mud too. Good luck with your purchase Cortlen!

    If u like the Fiskers blade,(Canadian Tire?) u would love their loppers. I carry both, and the loppers will cut small alders up to 2" in diameter. As for the blade...man super sharp, also work great and have chopped small trees in trails when I forgot my chain saw. Good review, Cheers

    Rob, I just used DEI titanium exhaust wrap, all the way to 4-6” from muffler and used their adhesive floor and pan foil heat block, it cut the exhaust temps in 1/2 or more‼️
    After running to when fan is kicking on I can touch the heat shield (by left thigh) with my bare hand and before it would give you a 3rd degree burn.
    Worth doing when you have it apart. It cost about $105 bucks or so. Just FYI

    Great video!!! I also have the 850xmr and i've blown my rear diff twice already!!! I think the problem with them leaking is the cheap ass wear ring over the driveshaft yoke. What i have done to stop water and mud from getting in is i installed a stainless steel redi-sleeve over a new wear ring. Part#99149 from Amazon. The sleeve doesn't get the grooves worn into it from the pinion seal. I also installed a new pinion seal when i put the sleeve on. I've got over 1000 miles on it and no leaks!!! I still change diff oil every 3 rides depending on how much water i ride through. You should try it!!!

    • @mudman6832
      @mudman6832 6 років тому +1

      Oh yeah, one more thing. I also filled the space between the double lips on pinion seal with marine grease.

    Great review Rob. I do like my 2015 1000 max. Also agree about the gearbox drain. What the heck is the drain plug out the side for?. I might trim the plastic also to make the clutch cover easier to remove cause it is a wrestling match to get the floor boards off. Kind of getting the trick for it though. My Dalton kit works great so far too and no smoked belts but I am carefull and leave it in low when tough going. You have a lot more miles on than me but not as many trails down south here so I mostly ride Haliburton in the summer so a lot of rocks and some mud. I needed more ground clearance so I put on 1 inch spring spacers. Same stock brakes for me but they are almost due for replacing so I will try something aftermarket and not Can am for pads. Ever try Pledge furnature polish on black plastic?. lemon smell though lol! It works great for me and if it gets wet does not leave the white streaks like tire foam does. I still tire foam the under wheel wells though.

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  6 років тому

      Awesome, the 1000 must really rip! Never tried Pledge but I have heard people use it, I just use a tire spray and not the foam type, works well. Happy Trails Rob and thanks for checking the video out!

    @IskateUphill 3 роки тому

    I'm 8:38 in and I've changed my mind on getting one. I'll watch the rest of the video anyway. Think I'll just get a grizzly or something. I mean I ain't hurting for money but I ain't gonna buy something that needs upgrades out the gate. I guess grizzlies or rubicons or something like that is reliable and plenty good

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  3 роки тому

      They may be reliable but the Can Am power is the best out there. The machines are only as good as you treat them. If you run them thru mud and the terrain we have around here hard, they will all break...just depends on what you use them for and how hard you ride them.

  • @KReesethebeast
    @KReesethebeast 3 роки тому

    So, why would can am make an atv that is made for mud, but clutch won't hold up and belt won't hold up on mud which is what it is made for? Doesn't seem like I would pay that much for an atv and still have to mod it to make it run right.

    Hey Rob, love the informative videos, we just bought a ‘17 XMR 850, with 125 miles on it, few days ago, so far really like it, I like how you talk about all the corks, we will be riding it moderately, but you never know
    I wanted to ask where the bumper ends came from and your skid plates, I wasn’t sure if the skids are OEM or not? Also I was shocked at how hot Can Am runs these, it pushes a lot of heat! I see some cut out under the fan, and/or run tuners to mix better instead of so lean, that’s something else I’d be interested in knowing about‼️
    Take care, much appreciate the time you spend on the vids.

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  6 років тому +1

      Nice, congrats on the purchase! Yeah, they run hot, lot of heat from the pipe. I run an EJK Tuner that's tuned for the bike from where you buy the tuner and have an SPI slip-on pipe. Was trying to find the quietest pipe but it's still pretty loud. The tuner helps the part with running lean but the bike still runs pretty hot! Just watched dried up grass on top of the pipe heat shield, it can catch fire! The Bumper Caps are from ArrowATV.com and are well worth the money...skid plates are from Ricochet and are pretty pricey. If you ride smart and don't run a lot of big rock areas, you might not need any and can get away with the stock setup. They do add a lot of weight to the ATV...currently I've taken them off, easier to clean up and access drain plugs and such! Thanks for tuning in!

    • @hondaredracer
      @hondaredracer 6 років тому

      Rob Farrow ATV thanks Rob for the reply and helpfulness. I’d say I at least want to cover A arms and possibly the differential? Logs and stumps are my worry where we ride. I’ve seen so many XT and Xmr’s missing those bumper ends, it’s a good investment. My wife and I are looking for years of service out of her, I’m a solid Honda guy of 45+ yrs. riding and owning over 140 bikes, and still own quite a few, the Can Am Xmr is in a class of itself. Hoping it will be close to the ‘bulletproofness’ as Honda. I keep my stuff in meticulous care the best I can.
      Happy trails and safe riding, I’m going to watch your videos as I get time, and enjoy your thorough information!

      One would think so! I still removed my footwell and got it done. Not terrible, obviously but pretty silly. I fully agree, they want you to bring it in. Not this guy. I've done both diffs, the gearbox/transmission, and oil/filter. Just over 550 miles on it now, 58 hours. I picked it up with 489 miles on it. The longer the video went on the more the factory build problems become apparent. I understand user error ( mudding, dogging your machine etc...) however shifter linkage, structural bushing knock and rear differential failure.... These are straight off the show room floor problems that shouldn’t happen on a regular basis for a $15,000 plus machine. My synopsis of this video is that Can Am needs to allocate more funds for there research and development department before allowing the consumer to buy a problematic machine. If you take note...all of the outsourced items Rhino Axles, handlebar switch’s, Fox Shocks just to name a few are solid because those particular companies do research and testing. Where as the Can Am designed features fail on a consistent basis. Honestly it seems a bit criminal for the Can Am Corporation to sell a product they know isn’t ready for field use.

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  6 років тому

      Thanks for your input Man! I believe Can Am did address a couple of problems and fixed them in the 2018 model, so it's a step in the right direction...Thanks for tuning in!

    Makes me want to buy the King Quad instead of the outlander lol. King quad is just change ride and do maintenance per interval. Not per ride.
    I was thinking the outlander max XT-P for hill climbing and trail riding but watching this, now I’m leaning towards the king quad. I like my maintenance but holy smokes I don’t want to spend 50/50 time on the trail and in the shop. I want 95/5 lol

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  3 роки тому

      The King Quad is a decent machine. I preferred the Kawi Brute Force though. This machine has tons of power, way more than the Brute or King. All depends on how you ride them, ride then rough and you will break stuff. Ride them nice and they will usually not break! Good luck with your choice and thanks for checking the vid out!

    Polaris 850 SP or Can Am Outlander? I'm on the fence about which one to get...

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  6 років тому +1

      Are You going new? The newer Can Am doesn't have as many problems apparently...I don't know too much about the Polaris but they've had some issues also. Depends on what kind of riding you do also...I really like the Can Am, lots of power despite the few problems I've had but also mines an XMR and I use it in deep skeg and mud, so the parts are put to the test...if you're just trail riding with a bit of mud then the Outlander's probably a good choice! But like I said, I don't know a lot about the Polaris, so I'm a bit biased! LOL! Good luck with your purchase and thanks for tuning in John!

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  4 роки тому

      Depends on who you talk to! I ride the hell outta mine and never broken an axle or drive shaft, although I broke the thru shaft. When they lift or alter the machine, things start breaking. I know a few friends that have never broken anything, although they don't ride like we do! Design flaws are one of the main causes of breakage too. Riding in deep thick mud at full power will break most machines! LOL!

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  3 роки тому +1

      Depends on what you're planning to do with it! For power and mudding I'd still get the same machine! If I was doing mostly trails and some mud, I'd go with the XT model, maybe a 1000. Can Am has their issues as does every other model...depending on what you're using them for. I think this year (2016) being the first year of this newer style, had a lot of issues to work thru. They've corrected a lot of the issues though and the 2021 model has the new front diff lock that is supposed to be way better than the visco. I like the Can Am power, there has been no issues with the engine itself! Like I said, it all depends on how you treat it and if you do maintenance on it. I may have had a lot of issues and problems with it but they're all fixed or upgraded now and it's an awesome machine! Good luck with your purchase and Happy Trails!

      Was always playing with the rear diff until I got a Mud'n Wheels one...been good for over three years now. She runs hot like any Can Am, only melted a tiny bit of plastic when I took the heat shield out...put it back on now.

      @@RobFarrowATV great, would u recomend 2020 outlander 1000 for 2 persons or one?

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  3 роки тому

      The 1000 is a longer frame and will accommodate 2 persons and it's got plenty of power. You can go either way with one or two persons.

      @@RobFarrowATV Is the longer frame less fun in terms of drift and trail riding?

    • @RobFarrowATV
      @RobFarrowATV  3 роки тому

      Can be tight on trails, depending on how twisty the trails are. Won't wheelie as easy as a short frame but should drift just fine. Better on steep hills than the short frames, mine tends to want to flip over backwards with the short frame while longer frames just cruise up the hill.
