SJRC F11 Pro 4K & Controller After Mods Tests

  • Today, I perform a short flight and hover tests to see how well the mods that I've made to the drone and controller, truly work and even though I stayed fairly close by, unlike prior to any modding, I didn't have anymore lost gps connections that would cause the drone to toilet bowl out of control, nor loss of video feed, nor did I get the dreaded error message telling me to open the prop arm because it was blocking the gps signal. Solid connection and reliable video feed! Next testing will be in Sport Mode and range test...stay tuned

    Thanks for the mod video. My f11 arrives tommorrow. From what I have seen on various channels it is neccessary, if you are a range junkie like us (Fimi 2020, 16,000 ft solid signal).Cheers bud, will check back.

    I'm still looking forward to see the improvement in longer range of the fpv signal. As for the GPS mod, I doubt it makes a difference, you still have the toilet bowl effect around 7.6 minute mark. Today is a great day to fly, at least near New York City area. Weather is calm, visible satellite is 12 or more. My unmodded F11 Pro 4K flies beautifully, upto about 1650 ft before losing FPV. No toilet bowl whatsoever even when it hovered about 6 ft above ground. When no GPS signal strength shows up, close the app, and open it again, more than often it'll show.

      When no gps signals are showing, that's when the craft, toilet bowls and that's when you get, flyaways!

      @@bryantmaximilionalpha2840 I believe it's an app issue. UAV said there are 12 satellites but the app shows none. After being closed and reopened, it showed full strength. I've seen this many times.

      @@yquy I've still got more tests to perform, so I'll find all the kinks in it's armor and hopefully, get 'em all worked out. Sent the maker of the app a couple of emails requesting that they make some updating software changes to it, but haven't heard back from them, yet. May just open up the app in VB and make my own changes to it

    @Dare Master...I've been thinking the same thing, that maybe something within the motor housing has
    (a) come loose
    (b) broken winding
    (c)metallic piece of debris gotten inside.
    I'll first start by using my air compressor and blowing out each motor housing and then, go from there.

    i never got any toilet bowling issues with this drone but i do have video signal freezing anywhere from 100 meters out up to 300 meters and thats the farthest ive been able to make it without losing the video so im def gonna mod this one...i also just got the jjrc x17 and that thing toilet bowls like crazy every flight to the point that im gonna send it back for refund unless it can be fixed with an upgrade

    • @bryantmaximilionalpha2840

      What makes these birds toilet bowl, is the loss of GPS signals. Just like back in the days when flying your very first, cheap rc helicopter, without a gyro in it... YOU, had to be it's gyro and make it fly level and straight...same thing with the GPS module...no sat reception, no straight and level flying.

    • @bryantmaximilionalpha2840
      @bryantmaximilionalpha2840  3 роки тому

      Locate where the GPS module is situated at in the body of the craft and then cut a wide opening in the plastic above it and tape/glue a thin piece of plastic over the opening. You should see a big improvement, afterwards. And always give the GPS at least 60 seconds to find enough good signal sources, before lift off.

      I had a toilet bowl happen to me the other day, today I made sure to do a full compass calibration away from anything metal and did it slowly, and had no problems at all today.
      I'm also going to immediately land the F11 if I see that compass calibration error in the app, I ignored it and that probably didn't help with the toilet bowl.

      @@deendeen9798 right now, I'm just in testing phase, with these antennas, but to answer your question: the 3dbi antenna has a much broader broadcasting pattern, than the 14dbi panel antenna which has a much further reach, than the 3dbi antenna, which is great for long distance flying...as long as you keep the panel antenna aimed in the correct direction of the craft. Just think of a donut for dipole antenna broadcast pattern and an egg for panel antenna broadcast pattern. I do intend to use my homebuilt yagi antenna on my controller in the future, but as of now, it's only testing time for me. As far as the drones 5.8ghz wifi broadcast, that's for the camera wifi, which has it's separate wifi card installed...it actually looks like the wifi card inside of any laptop and can probably be switched out with one as long as you know the correct power and ground pinouts on the laptop wifi card.

    The green bar is your battery life indicator, not satellite strength... sat strength is shown next to the sat icon. if you cant see the icon dont fly, but close the app and then restart it. hope that helps.

    • @bryantmaximilionalpha2840

      Good question...Not only is the modded antenna, mounted externally, but it's something other than the tiny dipole antenna that's mounted internally and therefore, is subjected to EMI, caused by the other internal electrical components and wiring, thus giving you a clearer signal source, that's unobstructed and you can change the what decibel antenna that you'd like to use

    • @bryantmaximilionalpha2840
      @bryantmaximilionalpha2840  3 роки тому +1

      It's the safest thing to do, if not, your drone may not find it's way back home, if you press 'return to home', because it wasn't calibrated prior to launch.

      There can be a number of reasons for that issue. If you've seen my other videos, then you'll see that I've drilled a series of 1/4" holes directly over top of the gps module, as well as added a extra layer of shielding inside beneath it, to cut back on the EMI that it's subjected to and that helped my issue. Also, they have the calibration board mounted to the bottom of the gps module, so I don't think that helps out any. I've since separated the calibration board from the gps module and place it flat and level, on the bottom inside of the drone.
