Really enjoyed this I’ve watched it a few times now. I grew up on the east coast of Durham and travelled on this line a lot. Now live in Canada so it’s great to watch the video especially with the chatty commentary from the train driver. Thanks Dylan 👍
I'm impresed with this video, especially of the uplifting cab view of the front of the passenger train as it glided alogn the sunderland line out there..... 10 out of 10.
This channel is quite unique (and I've watched other cabview videos in the past). I wonder if it's possible for the gentleman to eventually cover many intersting lines. I suppose he would need the cooperation of other drivers from other regions that he himself doesn't operate. But it's worth a thought.
That line via Sunderland is one of many lines that people crossing the country don't ever get to see. For those who don't have the privelege of getting such a unique view from the cab, my experience as a passenger is - "to compensate for this, get out at one or two places along the line, and explore a little", "See and experience the local communities".
It would be great to see more videos from the driver's seat of older trains like the HST, 225, Class 90 and such like, and from the maintenance crews that keep them running. In a similar way to car reviews, it would be awesome for railway enthusiasts to see locomotives , multiple units and coaches up close and personal.
The Class 800 Azuma can go anywhere because they are Bi-Mode whilst the Class 801 Azuma are electric and can only operate on the electrified routes on the East Coast Main Line. Amazing video LNER.
Would find it so odd seeing a 'main line' train on metro lines coming out of Newcastle until hit sunderland. Shame weather was so poor and couldn't see the coastline sitting in amazing sunshine.
We do use diesel to travel to Sunderland! The East Coast Main Line is electrified with 25kV AC, while the line through Sunderland is electrified for the Tyne & Wear Metro with 1.5kV DC. ^AB
Only platform one is used (since late 1990s?) ; line is bi-directionally signalled for this. I don't know whether the southbound track is unusable, not signalled or just not used. Needs a new footbridge + lifts for Platform 2 to come back into service, would make a difference to capacity on Durham coast
@@peterwren8177 The 2nd (out of use) through platform is currently for freight only, though in 2022 the money was received to re-instate the platform for passengers, June 2023 is the scheduled completion date for re-openeing! Whether is happens that quick is anyone's guess!
LNER have a fantastic set of lads and lasses in the drivers seats. A really enjoyable series of vids. Many thanks to all
I'm one of the lads at Newcastle who was tooted st
lucky
Thanks very nice video and music, hope in future you will load more video like this, Big Thanks
Fantastic Video, thank you for posting, also would love to watch it in real time.
Great video - thank you. Altough my preference would have been to see the whole trip in real time.

Nice to see my home town of Yarm get a mention!
Great insight. Thanks
Absolutely love the video. Thanks for posting it awesome
Love the fact that companies are doing stuff like this
Thank you
Seems to be LNER only at the moment - haven't seen other TOCs doing it

This channel is LNER’s official channel, so I highly doubt they would do that
If anyone is interested, managed to find music with help from Google assistant. It's called "Be free" by Rex Banner. Cheers.

This line is so nice 🙂
Cracking. I love these great videos.
Brilliant cab ride, will we see the Peterborough-Lincoln-Doncaster joint line be filmed?
We're currently looking at options for our 'series 2' of In the Driver's Seat, so I can add this to a potential wishlist! ^KM
Please do full length videos with the natural sounds 🙂 would love to watch KX to Edinburgh in full realtime
Look for awl57 UA-cam channel they have full length videos of multiple routes
Great video thanks
Great video. Very informative. A map might have been useful?
Thank you for the feedback, we will take this on board and consider it for any future videos. ^CN

cant wait for this😁😁

How long was the journey via the Durham coast? Loved the humour and wit during the commentary!
would so love to do this
Thank you Enjoyed your video and committee. But why the music Up and down with the volume
4:09 There's a bush on the track! Not for long though.
Good eyes.

What’s the long term temp speed restriction at york for
Did you mean the LNER community stadium
Am I right in saying that the electrification around Sunderland etc isn’t compatible with the Azumas and so you’d use diesel?

I wish i knew what this music is im just vibing to it
Wonder why you were routed through platform two at Hartlepool when you weren’t booked to stop there. The old platform three line would’ve been easier.
What was the point it's too fast to see anything?
Why wrong line through Hartlepool?

Thats me!
WOW AGAIN...:):):)
I want to work for them
In a sensible world this would have gone via Leamside.
Is there any way you can lose the annoying "Music" ..If not, Not a problem ... There are many other train driver view videos on here.
Ver nice but it would be good to have a compltetely real time option as well.
... and cab audio rather than music
Train operating is my dream😍, but I cant'😒😔
Why can't u ?
These videos have promise but always under deliver. Why cant we see the drivers actions and panel along with the outside. Zoom out a little lads.
Yea ikley more bar tat
If only you stopped in Hartlepool so we didn’t have to use those god awful Northern trains.
Why just do commentary without mentioning rivalry ffs
Ruined by really loud music.
You only drive at 123mph. Slower now than 1976!! It is so cynical to reduce the speed by 2-4mph.
how is that... cynical?
@@OutbackCatgirl it's pessimistic,, calculating, and motivated by the cult of unnecessary big bureaucracy. The salami slice of decline.
Good video... unnecessary LOUD and awful music.
