hey carm, spun two of the discs so far and they're stunning. there's a new velvet underground documentary I need to watch, I hear young gets a fair amount of discussion.
My set is the same! Haven't had a chance to time it yet but judging from the order of Alex's durations in a comment above as well as the order of photos on the discogs page, that's what's intended.
@@jonathonbrown9245 maybe it’s an out dated convention, and no longer used. I could pull a couple examples, but off the top of my head, I recall my copy of Mothers of Invention “Freak Out” is numbered this way.
This is also available from Young's own site of the Mela Foundation. Thank you for posting this! Could you please let us know the total duration of this recording? I love La Monte Young, but I loathe vinyl - no offense intended towards vinyl fans - and haven't had a turntable for 20 years. I wish Young had released, or will release, this uninterrupted on DVD, as he eventually did with The Well-Tuned Piano. To me, DVD or Bluray seems the most appropriate format for Young's music, as that's the only current physical format that will present his longer pieces uninterrupted. To have this release on vinyl only makes no sense to me, as it seems to be the least suited physical medium for an extended piece.
Nice, just over 3 hours, thank you very much. That would take 3 CDs, so again it seems DVD or Bluray would be the ideal option. I have the 6 hour, 20-some minutes DVD of The Well-Tuned Piano, and it's great to have the option of hearing it uninterrupted that way, even if I don't do that often. I hope Mr Young can issue Trio For Strings that way, too.
Gorgeous... Notably, Charles Curtis played the first Naldjorlak piece by and for Eliane Radigue (though this is not available on vinyl)
interesting, don't know that radigue piece. thanks for watching.
Very cool score, Alex! Remember reading about this piece ages ago. Nice hearing some and knowing it's available. Thanks for sharing. -Carm

Finally got my copy. I missed this video the first time, otherwise I might have been enjoying it for months now. Thanks, Chris
glad you got it!
Beautiful looking box set Alex. I appreciate you sharing the unboxing~
Rob/Boston
beautiful music Rob, young rarely approves his work to be released so a rare treat
I know a boxset is a bit of a monolith but they can be beautiful. This one certainly is. Should be lovely
dread not the infinite drone box
Hello can you upload the full version of trio? This is really important and we need to listen it!
first part done
The labels/stickers on the my copy are out of order - not side 1 and side two, etc, but side 1 side 3, etc. Anyone else have this problem?

not unusual for a multi disk set; double record sides often numbered this way.
@@ghostexits I'm not sure about that. I own dozens of multi disk sets and this is the only one number this way.

Fantasy Football delivers the goods.
