Band-Maid: the most efficient musicians of the past decade. No frills, no pointless embellishments, just ramrod straight to the hearts of those who love their rock music undiluted. What a wonderful journey this is.

This is Band-Maid's Magnum Opus. They have other great instrumentals, but From Now On is a masterpiece composition.

Yo guys, you were paying full attention. With good reason. With instrumentals you need to keep the listeners attention without a vocal melody. It's difficult. But BAND-MAID Awesomely nails ALL their instrumentals. Check out the Official Live Video of ONSET-LIVE and you'll see what I mean......as they nail it Live. Need to be beyond cohesive to do that. Peace. 2.06

Miku (rhythm guitar) had never even held a guitar when they asked her to take over that spot. She had to learn on the job. Kanami has been her teacher since the beginning.

Miku's been playing guitar for around nine years when this video was made. You might want to update your thinking about her. She's not a clueless beginner anymore, and hasn't been for years.

They all brought different things to the table as a band. Miku was inspired by Tokyo Jihen / Ringo Sheena and is a Korn and Trivium fan, Akane - Maximum The Hormone and Deep Purple. Misa grew up hearing classic rock such as Hendrix, Deep Purple and also RHCP courtesy of her mum but is a grunge fan, Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins and recently Guida Rosa. Saiki is a Muse fan. Kanimi as the composer is the most interesting in my view, her guitar hero is Carlos Santana but was inspired by Larry Carlton to take playing guitar seriously. She played covers of the likes of Kiss, Mettalica and Deep Purple in a school band but as a composer she was a singer songwriter in the mold of early Neil Young if you will and wasn't composing Rock songs at all as far as I am aware. During the first three 3 years of Band Maid when songs were written for them she developed composing and arranging skills I'm sure from the people they worked with and exploded when Alone, her first song accepted by the label was included on the brand New Maid EP/ mini album..

      Guida Rosa? 🤔
I think you wanted to say "Ruido Rosa" (Pink Noise in english), I know that because I saw Misa's mentions of them (they formed the band in 2006)... they're a Mexican band, I know them from years ago because I used to listen their songs in my youth, I'm from Mexico so I know them, The Volture are somehow similar to them (another Mexican band).
P.S. By the way, Ruido Rosa is going to play a concert on the Foro Indie Rock, the same place where BAND-MAID played for the first time here in Mexico.

The impressive part, to me, is that Kanami is playing vocal melodies with the guitar, as well as insane riffs & solo's, in Mincho mode. You can imagine Saiki singing those melodies & chorus lines.

See. Told ya. Absolutely incredible track. I love Saiki's vocals, she is one of the best out there. But to just let these ladies off the chain and let them create by themselves, well you just can't help but smile and be astounded by their incredible skill. There is a recent live video of my favorite song by them Puzzle. Very heavy but at the same time really deep lyrics. Worth a look. But just keep going down that pigeon hole.

That's a great action. I think you can see that all of them are world class performers. That's why BandMade, including vocalist Saeki, is one of the world's best rock bands. What's most amazing is that the actual live sound on stage and the sound in the video are completely the same. I think the stage performance is more powerful and wonderful.

“From Now On” is one fine example of how the best musicians know how to play the rests. That intro punch in the gut, and the two rests before each “chorus” are absolutely critical to making this song what it is.
Thanks for keeping Band Maid in the rotation. As a fellow slightly grayer rock and roll guy, this band has been a treasure trove of musical discoveries. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard a band that captured my interest enough to deep dive analyze what they do.
If it isn’t on your ‘to do’ list yet, please consider the live version of “Moratorium” from their 2018 Zepp show. I have no comment because I’m looking forward to hearing yours. 🤘🏽

Many of us recently saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. And the DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 2023 BAND-MAID 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wraps up in Japan at the 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023! Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live three times with this MV quality in Tokyo & Kawasaki and dropped my jaw three times 😲. I believe so did many of American audience in their recent two US tours. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. They played this song, however, as opening at festivals and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄
Band-Maid did not play this song in the final concert of 2022 US Tour in Chicago. In an interview Kanami explained the reason saying "From Now On requires a lot of adrenaline to play, but I was a bit anemic that day. I would have passed out if we did it". [source : Japanese magazine "PMC vol.25" page 100] .... I don't blame you, Kanami 💛。Then B-M played "From Now On" as 21st in the total 26-song setlist at Tokyo Garden Theater on Jan.9 this year. If Kanami is in good shape, her adrenaline is inexhaustible 😍

Their first album was pretty pop-punk and just kept going harder and more towards rock. Also at first Saiki and Miku were almost a duet. Then Miku went more back-up with a few songs all hers. She also couldn't play guitar at first and was taught by Kanami. Check out some of the interviews with them. Those are as entertaining as their songs lol.

You should definitely check out another one called 'Without Holding Back'. this song takes a certain amount of energy to play. But on the first leg of the last tour Kanami was burnt out. So it was dropped as the encore in Chicago, the last city of the tour. So when they cam back on the second leg of the tour to Chicago for Lollapolooza, they opened with it.

Not sure where you got your information, but BAND-MAID's drummer Akane credits Nao, the drummer for Maximum the Hormone, a Japanese heavy metal/hardcore punk band, with inspiring her to switch over to the drums.
She was aware of heavy music well before joining BAND-MAID, and finding out that the MtH drummer was a woman was a big motivation.

I've seen them play this live numerous times, but nothing comes close to the dramatic impact of this MV, Po! Btw, Misa was influenced by a variety of late 60's/70's rock that her mother had playing around the house, Smashing Pumpkin, especially Bassist Paz Lechantin. Akane recently said Deep Purple was an influence, along with Maximum The Hormone (MTH), an iconic Japanese Metal Punk Rock band, specifically, female drummer, Nao Kawakita. Kanami was influenced by Larry Carlton and Carlos Santana, and Miku's grew up singing traditional Japanese music style called Enka and J-Rock. Saiki was influenced by J-pop idol Namie Amuro. Thanks for the reaction, Po!

There are 3 other instrumentals available on YT: ONSET live - ua-cam.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/v-deo.html , DON'T BE LONG live ua-cam.com/video/wnO3NAc0vLw/v-deo.html and DAWN WINERY THEME - ua-cam.com/video/-M2EYvqeTdI/v-deo.htmlsi=1NZwXWBu5zt1a8cF . There are others too but on other sites. There's some excellent fancams (and some not so excellent ones too) on YT, from their recent USA tours and they all show that, while the playing of this song demands perfection, stamina and precise timing from everyone, they can give that every time. They're very hard-working women with a lot of energy - ie, I bought the DVD of their January 2023 Tokyo concert and it's 26 songs over 2.5 hours!
