Just goes to show that you don't need the latest, most expensive, state of the art equipment to make good music. Just knowledge and determination.

In the rock world this holds true so much, Kurt Cobains classic Nevermind guitar tone is the result of really cheap guitars, amps and pedals picked up at junk shops, that didn't even play in tune properly, and produced a thin and raspy tone. They had a smart engineer who captured the essence of their tone, didn't overdo it, only doubling guitars and vocals, and made good EQ choices. The result was an iconic sound that many imitated and nobody replicated. There are no bad sounds, only bad producers.

That trick where you sample a single note that has good tone is great, really nice to experiment with fm synthesis, fast delays that create tones and comb filters etc. etc. Also, eqing can do amazing things when you sample after, it's kinda like subtractive synthesis to whatever your sound is.

Effort and talent! Guy just made an awesome lofi beat to study to, amazing. You know ? those things that make glitched sounds, or weird voice noises, I usually put them in productions that use glitch, like midtempo, industrial, ebm, such things with random sounds, and they end up being not so bad.
