    I did like your video and it was helpful. I bought the metallic paint at home depot and he said just use a primer under the metallic but I see the basecoat is a better idea Thank You!

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому

      Yeah I don’t recommend just over a primer - because the metallic is sheer - you will see the color underneath. I would choose a complimentary color to whichever metallic color you chose

    Have you ever sprayed fusions metallics?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  8 місяців тому

      I have and actually they spray way better than brushing. Since they have pretty heavy mica pigments in them when brushing you have to go one direction for a smooth even finish. Spraying is much easier and nicer

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique

      You could - just keep in mind Metallics are different than traditional paint - with the mica pigments you have to go one direction when applying for a nice even finish

    Your video is very explainable ... Can i use a light gray primer as my base coat with a champagne metallic paint?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you I’m so glad! Yes you can, the idea is to give it a base of some sort because it is sheer! You may not like the color of the champagne over grey primer though. I would test on something first to see if you like the look.

    Can I use chalk paint as the base coat, can I seal it with clear wax after the metallic paint?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому

      I would suggest using the fusion mineral paint under it as a base coat. Metallic paint is a little tricky to work with and going over chalk paint vs the fusion paint that has a built in top coat that will help with ease of application will yield you a better final result. Traditional Chalk paint is very matte and you may find a lot of drag going over it. Again fusion has a built in topcoat so I wouldn’t sell with wax over the metallic, if you want to sell I would use a water based topcoat.

    Would you recommend just going over with metallic over a store bought frame? I have some gold frames from Michael's that have some light scratches.

      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I would recommend using a base coat under your metallic, they are sheer and tend to look better over a base color and you won’t use as much of the metallic that way (it is more costly for the metallic paint).

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique

    i have a large shiny oak dresser. should i sand off shiny ness before starting base coat ?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      Pam Kadel so for the best adhesion with a shiny finish, I would sand/scuff by hand with a fine grit sandpaper or a scotch brite pad. If your really concerned, I would also use a primer/gripper for added adhesion. The key to a great finish and problem free painting is good prep,so that is what I would suggest 😀
