100-Minutes into the fire, they only, had a single aircraft making water drops. And it wasn't the PG&E one that can dip into the Ocean.
The amount of agencies and assets available to fight this fire is unprecedented!
Cal fire- largest Ariel firefighting fleet in the world.

Coast Guard Aircraft and ships.
Two fire districts and Largest Marine Corps base In the country.
This fire season a lot of states are going to be disappointed that they don’t have anything!!!!

Ruby’s was closed for a lot longer than that. The city needs to get their act together and resolve the poor condition of a derelict building that used to be Ruby’s and the vagrants on the pier. Get some cops walking that pier routinely and make it safe for families.
Probably not the whole thing, it wasn't closed when it was particularly destroyed in the hurricane.

Camp Pendelton offered resources early on in the fire. Why did the on-scene, Commander issue an order to "cancel?"

God bless everyone that got that fire out and for no one getting hurt.... Oceanside Pier is more than a historical landmark to my family. My mom growing up there in the early to mid 60s, was always at the beach surfing with her little brother (my Uncle Bill) , yeah, my mom used to go to beach parties , (this was during the Vietnam war) sometimes her friends that she went to Oceanside HS, were kia. They would decorate the surfboard with flowers and orchids and roses, douse the board in kerosene and light it up and push it into the water. It's called a surfing sacrifice, in honor of the hero they lost. It emulates a Viking funeral. .....its also illegal lol. My mom found herself running down the peiras the police were pul 6:29 ling up, so my mom and her best friend from HS ran to the end of O'side pier, away from the police, and they, jumped off the end and into the water in the middle of the night! Then my mom did it again about a year later, crazy mom of mine......
My mom went with The Lord in 2018. Her final wishes included having her ashes spread off the end of that Pier..... Her third and final time...... So thank you again for saving more than any old historical landmark, it means more to me than people can understand. It's my mom's final resting place, so I'm grateful, I'll still be able to go visit her, it's just gonna take a while to fix it . They fixed it up and repaired everything after the storms in the early 80s. It's in good hands, the people of Oceanside know how important it is to them

I went to that pier many times when stationed at camp Pendleton back in 1977
Cool, my sister was stationed on Camp Pendleton in 86, she lived on base wire mountain 2, I worked many jobs on base.
How tf did this happen with all the rain we've been getting? It rained a few hundredths an inch the last few days

It's been said to me before that this is the place I became more then just a thought. I actually became a blob of living and growing cells on this pier in 1959 on Sept 25th to be exact. I owe my life to that Interaction. Thank you Mommy n Daddy

I live in Oceanside by rhe Pier, its 9pm and it is still burning 🔥 The city should have probably maintained the fire infrastructure on the pier and this wouldnt have been as bad.
Why wasn't at least one--if not more--true, full-size, fireboats with multiple, water cannons ever dispatched to the scene?
Quite simply, it wasn't practical to send large fireboats since large fire boats are slow and the nearest ones are in the Port of LA. LA's big fireboats top out at around 20kt and it would have taken 4hrs+ to make the trip to Oceanside.
San Diego did dispatch one of their small rapid response fire boats. They made good time considering the sea state, but it still took over 90 minutes for them to arrive on scene.
