What a lovely storm! I live in Southern California...we don't get much rain, so it's always a blessing when it does, here.

Interesting! I have an Ashford Sampleit, and the roll goes over both ends, so I can see how this can easily happen as people switch looms.

It's such a simple thing Mary, but that's the great thing about weaving mistakes - there are so many easy fixes 😊

I just bought a second hand table loom and It had no back pin on the back so I fixed that then this slipping issue happened on the front and I wasn't happy. Now that I know how to fix it I'm glad, Thanks.
Edit 2 minutes later It worked 💗😊

Thanks so much for this video! I'm a lil' scared to try and fix mine since I have a bit of weave on it already but at the same time I can't wait to try correcting mine and hopefully fix the tension issue. 😀

If you don't fix it, it will annoy you for the whole project, it's really difficult to weave with your tension constantly slipping 🤦‍♀️

I have that same loom. Whenever I begin rolling onto either beam, I make sure the pawls are engaged in the gear “teeth”. When you hear the clicks you will know you are turning in the proper direction.

Altho I will always weave on my RHL, I am ready to add a shaft loom. Figuring a table loom might be the way to go based on budget, I just watched your fantastic and informative video “What to consider when buying a table loom”. I have never had any kind of tension problems whatsoever with the RHL, so I was disappointed to learn that the tension on a table loom is not as good as a floor loom. I won’t say that is a deal breaker for me, but maybe I should stick with the RHL instead? LOL Then I found this video. Was this the table loom tension issue all along and is this the permanent FIX?
Also another question, if I may? You said the thickest yarn you would ever use on a table loom is fingering. Does the table loom provide a good result with the fingering?
Many thanks Kelly for all of the help you give and inspiration too. Just a few months before covid, I started to weave on the RHL. If not for you, I would not be the weaver I am now. I owe it all to you.

No, it's not a permanent solution to the tension problem. But not all looms may be the same, I've only tried one type of table loom. There are things you can do to improve the tension too, like using a separate metal or wooden rod at the back apron rod (because the existing apron rod bends when you try to tension tightly). Also, I don't think that the tension is necessarily really bad, just once you've woven on a floor loom you make comparisons. Yes, the table loom does provide a good result with fingering weight yarn 😊

Hi Kelley, Please help! I have an Ashford 8 shaft table loom, (Thanks your assembly instructions are great.) My problem is as I advance through the warp one side starts to loosen. The first couple of times I wove something I thought I must have not gotten my tension even at the start. But after a half dozen projects it is still happening. I would truly appreciate any suggestions you can give. I've used cardboard slats to separate the warp as I have wound it on. I have used paper as a separator. It always comes loose on the left side. Don't feel you need to rush an answer my busy season just started and 12 hr days don't leave much weaving time. But if you could make some suggestions when you have time I would be grateful. P.S. Love your channel.

Hmm, just one thing to check - when you attached your apron rod at the back of the loom with strings (when you set up the loom), were they all the same length? Basically, is your apron rod sitting straight and parallel to the back beam? Check the front apron rod also - they should be as straight as you can get them.
