The video was ace as per, your ability to tell a story what ever the subject matter is always has my full attention where as others waffle lol! You don't need to change anything about the way you do your vids the simplicity of them is just so easy to watch! And it's amazing that you've got your self on waters near to you which is amazing! The ngt spring butt grips are like £2.50 I've used them for years and never had any problems! It's amazing that you're advocating for spending as little as needed! It's way to easy in this sport to get pressured to spend more than is needed! Tight lines and cant wait for the next video! 🐟
@@nicksaunders1405 bleeding hell i just typed a real long response to this and deleted itself.... LOL..... anyway here we go again,,, Firstly thank you Nick real nice comment and much appreciated :- Nick we have all fallen for egg under the hat when it comes to fishing gear, I’m no different but I just wanted to show that budget gear works too and I was really pleased I sort of proved it with those three fish, of course we both know its more to do with this last few inches at the end of the line not what’s sat on the bank but those big money grabbing companies are not going to say that are they! 👍👍
Another great video Maff - love the honesty and like me you use sensibly priced tackle, not stupid priced stuff - the fish haven't got a clue what we are using lol
Very true, I just didnt feel the need to go mad for this kit and as you could see it works just fine. But admittedly I can be tempted to forget sensibility now and then 👍👍 .....
Thank you Chris, I think anyone coming into this game is just screwed with cost and choice. so its only right to show folk they can save a few quid and still catch, I don't mind having good gear but we all know you are 100% correct " it is fashion show" and I'm also guilty of that too. great comment thank you, regards Matt.
Top video Maff ,that trip with the barrow must have brought back some training memories in the army .Great venue ,apart from the trek .Keep up the vlogs mate ,they are the highlight of my weekend .
Hi Kirk Westlers Hot Dogs LOL i think that advert is ingrained into me from soooooo long ago sat in the cinema and i looked for it after the weekend and could not believe i found it. As always mate thank you for your comment. Kind regards Matt. 😁👍
Good Fishing Maff. I fished it a few days before this latest visit of yours & I went from Peg 14 (Paul's favourite peg apparently). Went all day with not a bleep...& then it switched on at 7pm with a double-run & after a bit of chaotic 'knit one, pearl one' frantic activity trying to manage both I had 2 commons @ 8lb'ish &19lb 7oz on the bank. An hour or so later & I had my Ratherheath PB with a 22.6 common apparently called 'Mug'. 2 further runs during the night but both lost to the island. Had to laugh at your footage making your way off with the barrow...BIG job aint it. Those bloody tree roots !!! haha. I did an overnighter on Atkinson's last weekend with my brother & had a decent do on there. Great entertaining vid to watch as always Maff...keep em coming !!
Congrats on your lake PB and what seemed to be an awesome session, mad how it all just switches on Them Carp don't read the same fishing books as we do LOL, a double run is just comedy gold and no easy way to sort it on your own.... great comment and thank you, regards Matt. 👍👍
Yes Maff you are 100% correct some people don't know how to be quiet on the bank .You always got a smile on your face and never fail to make me laugh.Fair play to Paul for offering to help you with your gear.Keep up the good work.
As you say most people don’t need to buy top end tackle (nice if you want to buy it) mid price tackle is more than good enough. I started carp fishing back in the mid 80’s and we used two match rods , then moved on to standard ledger rods and upgraded them over time. Carp fishing is a totally different hobby now though. Always enjoy your videos.
Dave and Andy were carp fishing in the exact same way, no bivvies, bedchairs, no spoms, spods unless you made it yourself out of an old steri-dent tin LOL totally unrecognisable today. Easy to get drawn in to gear and im just as guilty as the next man but we just don't really need to go mad. thank you Chris, great comment
Great video Matt. A lot of my fishing equipment, is either cheap or i had it for many years, my carp rods are Daiwa powermesh, and are 25 years old, and i just replaced my alarms with a pair of Fox mini microns at £22 each, with batteries and hardcase. I did my first wild camp the other day, but combined it with a fishing trip. By the time I swapped out my usual fishing bolly, rucksack, and chair, the combined weight with camping and fishing gear, with water, food and bait, was 38lb. I fished on a water you might know seeing you came from Somerset. The King Sedgemoor Drain. Best regards Gordon
I used to do the exact same thing overnight fishing/ wild camp on the river parrot near its source near Crewkerne I do know King Sedgemoor Drain but never fished it..... yep no bivvi just a poncho, roll mat and sleeping bag used to love it. Cheers Gordon ...ps you never told me if you caught?
Magic vlog Matt...Talking of cheaper gear.. iv'e bought NGT xpr alarms, for about 8 quid each online, for a river campaign this winter, and already tried them out, amazingly , they work perfectly well. ...still need to buy new rods yet, as opposed to my shakspeare mach 1 feeder rods from 20 years ago...cant beat genuine chaps like yourself and Joe, ..crack on m8,,,great stuff..👍👍
Great Comment Kev, lots of positive comments from this vid especially regarding using budget gear, but its true Kevin it does work doesn't it! thank you, regards Matt👍
Good video mate - i had a 15 pound mirror out of the same lake over 30 years ago and from what i remember its a lovely venue to fish - its good to see you getting out more- i keep saying the same every year but work and other things take over , probably because i let them take over ! Next year I'm definitely going to get out more - keep up the good videos and thank for taking the time to make and upload them.
Hi Matt, yes i was flat out over the last two years and just didn't or couldn't find the time so i promised myself not this year....... this year is for me LOL may see you on the bank sometime. regards Matt

Great vid as usual, Robot Maff was a bit.....well....yeah.......lol Also about time you got a electric barrow conversion, makes traversing places like you did at the end of the video a doddle.
Robot Maff was a bit.....well....yeah (🤣🤣)....... As i get older and lazier the power barrow is looking better and better, I swore blind i would never have one............Things change 😁

So right now im on holiday went to Snowdonia today with the Mrs and did two walks. long day, but thought i had better get back and answer a few comments tonight and catch up ..... i am having a beer though so its not too bad LOL we do have Ben Nevis again over the Christmas holiday but ive got to get my @rse out the door and get some training in

@MaffTUK I had no choice for health reasons but wish I had bought ones years ago - if you do go down that route either get one with revolving back wheels (fox) or spend more and buy an additional set - next on my wish list lol

Good video and good session Matt. Funny how Bbeam never fall off though isn't it!!! Do you know i've often thought there must be a way of using maybe a lawnmower engine to power these barrows, making it a much cheaper option than the power barrows. However I have precisely ZERO engineering/mechanicl skille so that's where my idea ends!
Hi Steven hope your well mate , I think anyone coming into this game is just screwed with cost and choice. so its only right to show folk they can save a few quid and still catch. I very much intended to do that and the bivvi in the back ground is a budget westlake from go outdoors and it fits the big bed in and still loads of head room perfect for this venue with very small pegs.👍👍
