Good video. Few quick tips based on my 2010 Altima. I used a 9mm socket Someone else suggested to use a rag when handling the replacement bulb. I just used my shirt. My bulb for main brake light is a sylvania 3157 LL longlife bulb The existing bulb didn’t come out easily until I took a tiny flat head screw driver and pried the copper looking flange back off the bulb base. I did this on both sides and it popped out. Some other commenter complained that he didn’t give details on what size socket. That guys a turd. It’s a free video that just saved me $50 from a mechanic. Thank you.
My dealer just asked me to pay over $100 to do this. I told them no thank you because I knew youtube would have an instructional to do this. Thanks man, I wouldn't have figured out the carpet housing without this video. F the dealership!
One more satisfied viewer. Perfect. Taillight assembly was cracked, found a salvaged one for $50, followed your instructions...and in 30 minutes.....on the road again. Garage would have charge over $200
Good filming, good sound, good explanations, good job !I'M over 50 and first time of my life i got problem to change a break light... i'll do it tomorrow.Thank you very much !
Thank you so much for this video! Went to Auto Zone today and neither me nor the workers knew how to get that light out. I found your video and we all learned something new today. New brake light is in!! 😀😀
Wow, thank you so much for this video. I had to replace the entire left rear light assembly. Watching your video got me through how to get it out. I just worked backwards to get the new light in. Saved me a lot of money in labor charges. Thanks again. Very clear and easy to understand.
This vid saved me! Way to be! My wife's brake light went out, went to autozone and got a replacement for like $8.60 and this vid made the process easy! First brake light changed :D
Thanks Bob. You've helped me out alot. I hate driving into the mechanic shop for minor things like this, bc I know I'm capable of doing something this easy. Thanks for making it super easy :)
Thanks for your video, concise and looks like an easy process. I did have some trouble prying the tail light off though, didn't mention the pegs to hold the taillight assembly in place and lock it down. I also have 2 small cuplike cylindrical pieces of plastic with a bit of spongy stuff at the bottom of them. I assume they're supposed to control moisture or something. I hope they're not too important because I don't know where they fit in, LOL.
Thanks, it did the trick. The bulbs were a little harder to pull out. Also the light frame not se easy too, was almost glued and made a lot of squeaking noise when pull out, I thought it almost break! :) both my bulbs were out and replaced it.
Good video only thing that could have made it a great video is stating what size wrench or socket you would need to remove the nuts and the type of light bulb needed to replace the brake light. But it's not that hard to go and look at up at other places. Thanks
this is a good video, but everyone remember there's oil and acids in your fingers. You shouldn't be touching brand new light bulbs for automobiles with bare hands always use a rag
That's not a bad practice but unnecessary unless you are using a very high temperature halogen bulb. These bulbs are the standard incandescent bulbs so it won't really hurt them unless you have an abnormally oily set of hands. Thanks for watching.
For this video I used a 5/16" but an 8mm would also work. Some people have said in previous comments that they used a 9mm and it worked. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.
I have noticed when I put back the lights fixture frame, it doesn't quite seal. i am worried if rain water can slip through it and cause problems. Is there any sealant that should be applied? It's close enough but I stick in my fingers an pull the frame, it comes out a little.
I bet it would be even nicer if someone would do the job for you but if you decide to change the bulb yourself you will know the size. Thanks for watching.
It should be noted that when you remove the whole tailgate its held down by two additional clips. youre going to have to firmly but carefully pull to release them. Careful not to break any of the plastic.
Geeze, I can remember when all that bulb stuff was right there. No pegs, screws, carpet, etc. Reach in, turn, pull out, replace and turn back in. Tech was supposed to make things easier.
my concern is how do one can change the central brake bulb on an Altima => The one sitting on the board behibd the back seats. Too bad that you don't explain that.
So that it will not slip out of my hands and fall to the floor and possibly break. There is no problem touching a regular incandescent bulb with your bare hands. If it is a halogen that would be different. Thanks for the question and Thanks for watching.
In this video I used a 5/16", 1/4" drive socket. There have been other people in previous comments say that they have used a 9mm. The 5/16" worked for me and was easily available to me. So in short I would recommend using the size that fits your vehicle. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.
The video that showed up above this was 10 min long. This one is concise and professionally done in 3 min. Thank you. Subscribed
Thanks for watching
Agreed.
Thanks for being direct and not over talking. Much appreciated. Changed my all my rear bulbs in a few minutes for less than $20.
Awesome, thanks for watching.

Eric Worral hi! Does that mean the nut on the tail light is 9mm I lost one and have been trying to replace it
Thanks for feeling in all the blanks, the video's well done but this made it better.
I wonder how I'll do this.
My dealer just asked me to pay over $100 to do this. I told them no thank you because I knew youtube would have an instructional to do this. Thanks man, I wouldn't have figured out the carpet housing without this video. F the dealership!

the dumb ass should have known better than to touch the new bulbs with bare fingers its shortens the life of the new bulb
If I may ask what kind of screw he used and what kind of part was in the screw?

Just saved me at least $50 to $100. Only took fine minutes. Thanks you sir!
Thanks for watching.
5 minutes, you mean.
The socket is a deep well 8 mm or an open end 8mm ratcheting wrench will work too
Thanks for checking in.
Thank you for the video. Worked like a charm.Saved me time and money from dropping my ride off.

Thank you for the video. I was wondering how to change the brake and tail light on a 2.5 SL like this car. Is this car from 2007 or 2012?
Thanks for helping us do it ourselves I’ve always done my own luckily not to hard
Thank you, I was so confused 😂 they make it harder then it had to be
They sure do. Glad the video health, thanks for watching.

Thank you! Can confirm the process is the same for the 2009 Nissan Altima
I can neither confirm or deny.

Great video I just replaced my brake light easily while checking out this video. 👍🏽 thanks

Many, many angry people I guess. Thanks for watching.
What type of tool are you using to loosen the tiny nuts to get out the light housingt?? I can’t get it off and it’s driving me crazy!!
I just used a very small pocket screwdriver and it worked very well. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Easy peasy! thank u for this video

i need to do this job on my wifes car right now your video saved me time☺☺☺☺👍👌🔥 im now subscribing aswell

I actually found I could do it without removing those second two carpet clips. Great video though, thanks.
Much easier to remove all the carpet clips "when recording for UA-cam." Thanks for watching.

There is no sealant that gets used around the tail light. It should be tight enough. Thanks for watching
Very helpful video... thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks quick and easy fix 👍
Thanks for watching.
Well done but it would have helped if you told us what size the nuts were
The size that fits?
Awesome video!! Saved me money and time
Great! Thanks for watching.
It would be nice to know the socket size
I bet it would be even nicer if someone would do the job for you but if you decide to change the bulb yourself you will know the size.

What size nut is that I lost one and am trying to replace it
Try a 6mm. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
funbro1 thanks a lot bro
WHAT TOOLS DID YOU USE? WHAT ARE THEY CALLED?
First tool was a small flathead screwdriver, second was a 1/4' drive socket. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.
how did he check the new light make sure it work before install it back, is it possible???
He can check it by turning it on before installing it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
so you mean he can check it by turning it on before install, so he will have someone step the brake for him, is that what you mean???
Thank you sir. Your video helped a lot.
Thanks for watching
I was always taught not to touch the new bulb with your bare fingers, good video though thanks !!
That is correct for a halogen bulb however this is just a regular incandescent bulb so it is OK to touch. Thanks for watching.
Thank you!! Was done quick and easy 😊
Thanks for watching.
You've been very helpful, thank you.
Thanks for watching
I did by watching a video that explain exactly what he was doing. you should try it sometime
Thanks for watching my video.

Thanks.. That was easy.
Glad it helped, Thanks for watching.
i’m so lost my brake lights out and my altima doesn’t have those screws the panel looks welded into place
It may be a different year/model than the one in the video. try doing another search and see what you can find. Best to you. Thanks for watching.
It should be noted that when you remove the whole tailgate its held down by two additional clips. youre going to have to firmly but carefully pull to release them. Careful not to break any of the plastic.

Yeah, right. So true.
Depends on the car. It's still like that for some.
@@alla5195 The Altima system is horrendous. Major fail from Nissan.

what year is the car? I have a 2011
This video was done on a 2009. Thanks for the question.
2nd time I used this video. Thanks
Awesome.
Would have been useful to mention wrench size.
The size wrench you will need for this job is an adjustable wrench. Hope that helps.
funbro1 The nuts are 8mm
Yep

Why do you touch the bulb with bare hands?
So that it will not slip out of my hands and fall to the floor and possibly break. There is no problem touching a regular incandescent bulb with your bare hands. If it is a halogen that would be different. Thanks for the question and Thanks for watching.
Okay, Thanks for the instructions.
Thank you How To Bob!

Thank you for your help
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing this information my brother!
Thanks for watching.
Shouldn't touch the bulb with bare fingers. The oil from your skin will stick to the glass and can cause it to explode from overheating..
While this may be true for halogen bulbs I assure you that it is fine for this incident bulb. Thanks for watching.
Thank you, helpful
Glad it was helpful!
I put in a new bulb in that same spot. It still doesn't light up.
Sounds like a wiring problem or possibly a bad bulb.
Thanks for watching.
Always say the size of the socket man common dog dont worry you're not the only one. Thanks for the video tho
In this video I used a 5/16", 1/4" drive socket. There have been other people in previous comments say that they have used a 9mm. The 5/16" worked for me and was easily available to me. So in short I would recommend using the size that fits your vehicle. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.

Can’t get the plunger to come out no matter how hard I pull
Try giving it a little twist. Be careful not to break anything. I wish you the best.
Thanks for watching.
Good video. I still wouldn't touch the bulb with bare hands. Just in case.
In case of what???? It is an incandescent bulb not halogen. Thanks for the view
Use gloves when handling the bulbs. Your oily finger print can affect the longevity of the break light.
While that is true for very high temperature halogen bulbs it does not apply to incandescent bulbs. Thanks for watching.
Just change my brake light , thanks
