as a Commanders fan, the biggest problem with Eric B was not only his attitude, but the play calling. He almost never ran the ball, always trying to outsmart everyone and ruining the development of Howell in the process.
feeling very indifferent towards the Dan Quinn hire. waiting for the coordinator hirings before I truly judge
I was hoping EB would get hired so I wouldn’t get inundated with articles about how EB didn’t get a HC job because of racism, whilst ignoring that a few other black coaches were hired for HC jobs in the same cycle.
He's a jerk. Napoleon complex.
Agreed.
yeah I think it's clear EB doesn't have "it". By all accounts he has a rough personality and that is why no one wants him. It's the same with Belichick too - his personality is awful and only Kraft was willing to put up with it because they were winning.
You could see this mentality on the chiefs, basically it was like 2nd down was to avoided at all costs, leading to 3rd and long and hoping mahomes does some hero ball... I agree, Eric b doesn't yet have it... And if you aren't going to make him hc, you should hire a defensive minded hc, cause why would Eric stay around just to be 2nd fiddle again, so you'd have to hire both a good DC and some oč as well
Only media types with no contacts in Seattle thought that Quinn was the frontrunner for the Seahawks job. Nobody in Seattle was excited about that prospect.
It never made sense to me to move on from Carroll only to hire Quinn since it would be more of the same of trying to hold onto the legion of boom era. Moving on from Pete only made sense to me if the team wanted a completely fresh re-start at coach, which is what they did by going younger and getting someone from a different branch of the NFL.
Dan Quinn got out of that hell hole. Ship was going down in Dallas.
I'm glad the Lions get to retain their coaches.
Please Cowboys hire Ron Rivera as your DC 😂
😂😂
🤞🏾
Doesn’t matter who they hire as DC. They’ll choke as always. It’s their destiny.
Lol 🤣🤣🤣 like please America needs this
@@freddie5744 only teams without super bowl wins get to claim they always choke ;P Sure its been a long time since the winning era, but it happens to a lot of teams. Its already been 10 years since my team last got there... who knows if its this year, or 40 more.
Ron also went to Super bowl.. Rich, that doesn't matter.
They legit replaced Ron with the same guy!..Dan sucks at important in game decisions like challenges and timeouts..so sick of fans accepting and defend this Mediocrity
Mike Shanahan won 2 SB, but was not able to do much in Washington because of the owner.
he's part of Goodhell's NFL...so of course he's going to be ok with the narrative
I'm just surprised that no one hired Joe Judge and Mat Patricia to be their tandem head coach, because that's the Patriots way and the Patriots way is success.
Thanks for the laugh.
Not No MO
Ha.
the patriots way was brady belechick was a loser in cleveland and a loser post brady
Josh McDaniels goes without a head coaching gig. I'm in shock.
RE talked over recent weeks that teams were tripping over themselves trying to be the ones to hire BB, Vrabel or Carrol. In the end, none ended up being hired.
Goes to show how much RE, and media in general, understand the inner workings of football franchises.
I'm a little surprised that didn't happen, but I suppose I shouldn't have been given Belichick's and Carroll's ages. Younger coaches have definitely been in fashion in recent years. Vrabel is still a bit surprising though.
I mean out of the 3 I only find Vrabel surprising he didn't get hired somewhere else. Belichick and Carrol not surprised by because of their ages. I could see Belichick and/or Carrol deciding to do television this year instead.
Rich has been off his game lately imo
Does it make sense to hire a proven coach in their 70s? You're not going to hire Carroll or Belicheck and fire them after 2 seasons if it doesn't work out, and even if things start turning around, you're a potential playoff team with a coach in their mid 70s,also not ideal.
Problem with Bill is he needs nearly complete control of a roster. Adam Peters is in control fully.. Dan Quinn can help build the defense they just need to figure out the offensive side.
Vrabel to Cowboys as DC and HC in waiting.
Do you see Vrabel watch all that bs, chaos and drama?.😅😂😂
Vrabell and Jerry Jones gone have to duke it out in the back of ATT stadium
This "upside" doesn't impress me. NFL history has shown that finding a good head coach is a hit or miss affair. There's more upside with the Chargers than this.
So how about Vrabel as the dallas cowboys defensive coordinator?
Commanders fan, here. Indifferent to the hire. I think Ben Johnson and Slowik going back home really hurt. We’re getting a young Qb and you want a coach to go with ‘em, but we got denied.
So, with Quinn … we’ll see *shrugs*
We should have hired Vrabel.
Commanders fan or Redskin fan ?
@michaelharris6441 for me and many others they'll always be the Washington Redskins
No one cares in you’re a Washington football team fan. You’re going 5-12 next year
Kyle Shannahan is the reason he made it to that superbowl. Its clearly been proven. Stop giving him that credit.
Amen!!!
Dan Quinn’s defense failed !!
Desperation hire!
Definitely
Your WRONG!!!!
It could have been alot worse
Cowboy leftovers served cold with onions.
It would be a leftover if they fired him, he wasn't losing his job. He chose to leave. That's not a leftover
No Rich, Commanders fans are not excited about the hire. We would have been equally disappointed with Bill, however.
DQ will show again why he doesn’t deserve to be a HC😂
As a person who has seen all Washington Super Bowl appearances that was a last call for alcohol hire!🥴😵🍸🍺
Dan Quinn was not a good hire. Would've preferred Vrabel.
Completely agree, honestly a little surprised he hasn't been picked up yet
I'm happy for Quinn not only getting another chance at being a HC, but also for getting himself out of the nut house. Jerry will never realize the it's him, and not the players or the coaches that's the issue in Dallas. It culture at the top.
he already had that chance...? and failed miserably
are you like 12 or did you do too many drugs and forget
The Washington 28-3s. It's interesting how Quinn's final game in Dallas was one of the worst coached defensive performances and his most memorable Falcons game was blowing a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl.
But the media told me Eric Bienemy was a Hall of Fame play caller 😂😂😂
Eric Bienemy is hos own worst Frenemy.
I'm frankly surprised that he got hired considering he couldn't prevent a late season defensive slide when that's all he was responsible for. Seems kind of stark when compared to another, ahem, late season slide when he was responsible for a whole lot more
I place that cowgirl fiasco on Dak. Because of him they were down over 3 scores from Jump. Then he gifted them with the nail in the coffin pick 6 that sealed the deal. DQ shares part of the collapse but the lions share of it is on McCarthy's and Dak's shoulders. Not to mention the narcistic ego centric JJ
@@mythrapi73 In the last 5 weeks of the season, the Dallas defense performed 21% worse than the NFL average. Dak didn't give up 31 points to the Bills
Dan "28-3" Quinn? Good luck with that!
@@dokedoker3340 Had he been even slightly worth a f)))k, he wouldn't have been a part of the single worst meltdown in SB history. This doesn't even include how he destroyed them the next few seasons.
Pay attention.
@@dokedoker3340 How did they do in the playoffs? What did they do after that year?
Go ahead - you can answer that, can't you? Oh - but wait - that would get in the way of YOUR narrative, wouldn't it?
Dan "48 points" Quinn
@@dokedoker3340 He's primarily responsible for the most embarrassing meltdown in SB history. The team STILL has not recovered from it.
Enjoy him with your Commanderskins.
This reeks of desperation on the commanders end. They had the guy they wanted and they lost him. They then had to scramble to find another candidate. At least DQ is a solid option, he’ll change the culture in a positive direction at a minimum.
I'm a Washington Commanders fan and I'll assume Quinn will be fired in 4 years with his best record being 9-8.
I know Dan Snyder is gone but I'll believe this team has turned things around when I see it.
Harris is just a drunk Snyder
You had 20 years of Dan Schneider meddling in player Personnel decisions. Nearly every single player on that roster has to be questioned why they're there. The only one that I might not question would be Terry McLaurin
It's going to take time to mold this team into what Harrison Quinn and Adam Peters want it to be
Thank goodness the Seahawks never made DQ their HC.
Agreed.
Thsi kind of kills me. Carroll's problem wasn't as head coach. John and Pete did a good job of Drafting but not so in free agency. They couldn't find new leaders as the old ones left and that falls on sub coaches. Pete could not find Oc, Dc and other good coaches to make these younger players in to leaders. The talent is there. DQ maybe could have found sub coaches that would have moved the team foreword in a fast pace being that Carroll and Quinn coached very similar and culturally. I hope I eat my words but seattle just hired another Jim Mora.
@@glendelong1023I don’t think it’ll be a Mora situation. I do think he will struggle in the playoffs if Seattle can’t get a talented OC and/or QB. However I do think we will be competitive
Ron RIvera 2.0 not excited at all about this hire.
Why ? You have a chamce at most amount cap space and an amazing draft ahead of u. Dan is gud at defense. If howell gets the time he needs or they go for another qb thats solid and has experience and they get the right key players washington could impress people. Adam peters knows what hes doing. Also having eric has oc is gud too. The reason of a sub par season is due to shitty o line and defense not getting stops at all. If they fix this up with dan and a gud draft. It can get good for washington
@@Edixim He just gave up 42 to GB. Fired in atlanta with a prime matt ryan. No thanks.
@stryker290 changed running man defense that worked great all year, lets change it up to zone in the biggest game though. Lmao
@@Edixim Dan is good at defense? 28-3. Biggest choke job in Super Bowl history. Did you see how the Packers shredded his defense. Quinn is awful in big games.
@@stryker290He did win a Super Bowl as DC in Seattle, 43-8.
Oh hell no. Born and raised Washington Football team fan here. EX cowboys always are a bad choice. And this guy has lots of issues with his game.
Norv Turner anyone?
Being an ex Cowboy has nothing to do with anything
Dan Quinn now really needs to start looking for an OC that can work with him.
And maybe also a good QB...
@@michaelrichey6783 Sam Howell is good. Maybe you should watch football, boy.
Mike mcCarthy 😂😂😂
Draft Jayden Daniels if Caleb Williams is gone...Hire Greg Roman as the OC ..Because, all the other NFC East teams are not good against the run...
@@jroc6354 I do watch football, girl. And Howell is overrated along with Quinn...
Mike Vrabel will be dc in Dallas
Hiring a guy whose defense gave up 48 points in their playoff loss, and whose team lost as a 2 seed to a 7 seed, doesn't instill me with confidence for Washington.
Don’t worry, Washington will get another chance to get it right in a year or two. 😂
Dan Quinn had his problems, but don't act like that loss was entirely on him. Ol' Rayne Dakota Prescott was back to his old tricks, and Big Mike McCarthy fumbled the play calling once again.
@@JustAnotherAlex Obviously Washington doesn't hold it against him. I hope he does well. It would be nice to see a competitive NFC East for a change (all teams).
Well the positive side is Adam Peters... he's in control of talent in the end.. he can scout like the best of them in the NFL
Jerryworld makes all the players soft. Remember, the Cowboys are a brand first, football team second.
The runt of the litter always eats last.
Disappointing choice. The franchise did not upgrade their head coach - they gave us someone who will phone it in based upon his history and whose defense is never ready for the playoffs.
Commanders fan here: Super Indifferent about this hire. But I'm a Commanders fan so what can I say? I always temper my expectations lol I was just happy to get rid of the other Dan 😂🤣
Am a diehard fan too and feel exactly the same way about this hire. Indifferent is the right description.
We should have hired Vrabel.
He failed in his two biggest moments in his career.
@@webstercatWinning the super bowl with the Seahawks and running the legion of boom was a failure?
Exactly how I feel. I loved the GM, hire, but it's very hard to get excited about this one
I think its an upgrade over what we had. Get some good coordinators, and we should easily have more wins.
In hindsight things worked out for everybody and its even more intriguing games this upcoming season as a result
This gives the Cowboys the out without having to fire Quinn as the DC. The loss to Green Bay seemed more like a failure of the defense than the offense. Now the Cowboys can try to get a proven your DC like Ejiro Evero from the Panthers, if he becomes available. Evero did a great job with the Broncos before Sean Payton dumped him and then another great job with the Panthers.
Yes, the Dallas defense lost that game. If you don’t have the ball you can’t score. And can’t keep up if the defense is allowing points to rack up in the board.
Lol when you scheme so bad that the Seahawks lose your number and Washington ends up saying "Well you can't be as bad as Ron Rivera".
There were absolutely ZERO coaching hires that made me think WOW...
At least half of the teams in this cycle will be looking for a new head coach in 2 years...
Dallas, NYG and Philly were elated when Washington announced the hire of Quinn. Why didn't the Commanders hire Eric Biennemy?????
EB is difficult to get along with. There's a reason he's no longer in KC. He will never be a HC.
Because Beinemy is trash and was carried by Mahomes/Reid
Why does everyone all of a sudden think Dan Quinn is going to be a great head coach? Does everyone forget 28-3?
Yesterday that said Dan was staying in Dallas.😮
As a skins fan I’m super pumped about this! Dan is a leader and players love him! I was also always afraid of his defenses period! HAIL
This is a win for the cowboys
We'll see. What will you say when DQ helps end Dak's Cowgirl run. Dak is the main culprit in that travesty of a playoff game. And ironic to think he was supposedly in the running for MVP ..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
@@mythrapi73 if you think Dak is the main reason they lost you didn't watch the game. Ya he had bad picks but the defense let up those touchdown and if they were able to hold up Dak would have been able to play a close game. If your defense giving up over 25+ you can't really blame the offense. It's a culture thing that needs changed.
I’ll be happy if he gets a talented offensive coordinator who is committed to a balanced and physical offense. That’s what I thought we would get with Ben Johnson, and why it was so disappointing to see him decline the opportunity. As long as Quinn gets an OC who can do the job, I’ll be happy.
Dan Quinn’s biggest moments in his career were historic failures. Turn the stupid hat around.
Well, he's bald, so he's allowed to wear is his cap backwards. At least, I think it is how the etiquette works.
I don't get all the fascination with DQ. Like Lamar, the real results are not there.
when rich said in a broadcast earlier today that quinn was back with the cowboys i thought, um who says he's not still in the running for washington?
"a ton of upside".. which sounds like a euphamistic backhand way of saying "you're starting with low expectations - good luck".
I woke up really late today and just saw Florio talking about how this was the last job open and then the next video has Rich saying it's been filled.
It is like time exists... why does everything not happen at once😢
Guys complaining saying Eb is too tough is why they're picking 2nd in the draft, maybe they want the ping pong table back?
Congrats for giving DQ the chance to show once again why he should not be a head coach in the NFL
lol agreed. He'll be back looking for that DC gig before you can shake a lambs tail
Dan Quinn had a 28-3 lead going into halftime in Superbowl LI and coached the Falcons to an epic loss. Then he improved the Cowboys Defense only to have it fall apart during this years playoffs. The Commanders put all their eggs in Ben Johnson and he rejected them. Now ALL the good OC's are snatched up by other teams cause they too long. Good luck trying to get a winning record next season (2024/25). 🤭
Yes! 😅
Completely agree. This guy has ALWAYS sucked. "But he's so well liked, blah, blah, blah!" Who effin' cares?
It was 28-3 with like 3 mins left in the 3rd. It's worse than you made it seem like.
What do ya expect cuz he looked at the opposite bench and saw the GOAT and he already knew that it was over 😎
@@jroc6354 Kinda like last Sunday for Detroit 😖
2 things I find interesting here:
1) The Commanders fired a Defensive Coach who made a Super Bowl with an MVP QB then burnt out, to then hire another another Defensive Coach who made a Super Bowl with an MVP QB then burnt out. What difference are they hoping to find here?
2) Jerry Jones just a few days ago both said that he wants to go “all in” AND that him and Belichick are “Friends and could work well together”. Is there a Dumb and Dumber chance that Bill takes a job as the Cowboys DC to compliment McCarthy’s Offensive play calling, with the idea that if things aren’t up to snuff early, you already have the most decorated interim Coach in NFL history on staff?
Dan Quinn may have been working for the commanders in that playoff game by the way he called that defense.
I’m a Seahawks fan. Quinn is an awesome hire. Congratulations. 💯
Redskins fan here - Vrabel would have been a better choice, but Quinn is not a bad pick.
Vrabel wants too much power and washington already stated that the team will run like a traditional football team.
Vrabel was the better pick. He’s a player’s coach. He proved success in Tennessee. Quinn has shown twice now he’s got problems adjusting in big games.
@@treflips2158 did not know that. Thanks.
redskins lol
*Foreskins
Damn. Washington going from an aging HC who makes bad decisions and loses games to an aging HC who makes bad decisions and loses games. Rad.
Washington will forever be looking for OCs with this move. With failure on offense they move on to a new OC and with success the OCs move on too. Long term success feels very unlikely in that setup. But they make the big bucks and I have only watched since high school.
I mean in all fairness DQ did do a lot for Dallas defense. It’s up to the players to execute the plays and make it count on the field. Let’s not forget regardless of the set backs Dallas had one the best defenses in the league. He also did it with the legion of boom. Let’s give him a shot and stop assuming it won’t work.
What about Sean McDermott? He's from the Andy Reid coaching tree...
What about this guy says I'm a good head coach
“He’s a leader of Men”🤡
@@texasclawhammer6578 sarcasm I'm assuming 🙂🙂
I've got zero warm and fuzzy feelings about DQ.
I could never, EVER work in sports broadcasting. I was born with this seemingly rare condition called shame and wouldn't be able to be wrong about everything I say and then come in the next day and do it all again as Rich does. That being said I guess I couldn't be a meteorologist either.
Belichick as Cowboys DC, slides into McCarthy 's spot next year
As a Commanders fan, I can’t see them keeping EB, especially to develop the QB that they likely draft with the #2 pick. I believe EB basically broke Sam Howell by playing WAY too much pass, allowing him to get sacked WAY too much, and not even really playing to his strengths. There was even a press conference near midseason where the sack number was quoted to EB, and he was like “so?” Would not risk him breaking another QB, especially a prized high draft pick.
Personally, I think the Commanders have to get three important pieces - the GM (check), franchise QB (hopefully with the #2 pick), and the coach to develop the QB, either a coordinator or QB coach. When Ben Johnson elected to stay with the Lions, the most important thing became hiring an HC who would have a wide network of coordinators he could get onto his staff. Quinn seems to have such a network, so I’m hoping he can hire a really good OC and QB coach. He has done well in the past, hiring Shanahan as his OC in Atlanta.
Remember when Dallas let go of Moore and the fans were so happy but the media was like “they’re gonna miss him.” We saw what happened there. Same thing happening here.
Maybe Washington didn't want Bienamy to get their new rookie QB sacked 20 times a game, like he did Sam Howell?! Because Bienamy is so pass happy, & refuses to run the ball.
They had a defensive Super Bowl coach in old riverboat Ron. And I got them nothing.
He also has family in MD
Ton of upside? You don’t have to spend a lot on shampoo
As a fan of the team formerly known as the Redskins I am concerned that are first move is to settle for a Cowgirls castaway
As a fan of Washington not excited about this decision. To be fair, I may be tainted because of the last ownership group. Crossing my fingers this at least breaks the streak of being below average
I can't speak for the Commanders or any other team that has found a new HC this offseason.
But besides the Harbaugh hire there's not been one real blue chip coaching hire that looks like a relatively safe bet to me...
Canales in Carolina? McDonald to Seattle? Mayo with the Patriots? Pierce has interim tag removed with Raiders? Callahan the man in Tennessee? And now Quinn in Washington?
I don't know.
I get it that Bill's name wasn't called since he's advanced in age and is a very special personality but Mike Vrabel without a HC job?
Strange.
Morris in Atlanta and Harbaugh with the Chargers look the best for me as of right now.
No Spags interview we went with the divorced dad look at HC like he’s MCDC or something that’s what they’re going for…
Come on people give it a chance what we have to loose at this point. HTTR
EB comes back to KC
Calling it
Rich, really? Who wants to build the foundations of their franchise on 71+ year-old defensive coaches? And putting the name of Eric Bienemy in the same sentence with Belichik, Carroll or Vrabel... what are you thinking?
Dan Quinn... finished 7-8, 7-8 and 0-5 with the Falcons ... a great record as a DC both in college and the pros ... but why hire another recently fired head coach who clearly could not build a long term winner
Were all my DC fans that were so hyped about Peters and Ben Johnson?! 😂😂😂 Choice number 1 from the new GM: Dan F* Quinn. 😂😂
People act like they really know these players/coaches, and what goes on behind closed doors.
EB is still on staff. Josh kept him on staff and said as much during the exit presser. I hope Coach decides to keep him around. Would be smart, especially since the pickings are slim.
I can't see anyone wanting him to call plays after finishing near the bottom of the league in almost every offensive category. Plus he must have ripped out all he rushing plays out of his playbook because it was always..pass...pass...pass...punt
Wait, what? Did the Falcons pass on Tom Brady as their cosch?
You said they passed on the guy that came back to win the super bowl....that was Brady.
Only people who don't live in Seattle thought Quinn was the likely choice.
Let’s go get Evero, he elevates defenses everywhere he goes.
I don’t get the appeal of Quinn to be honest. He made one Super Bowl riding the backs of a great offense. The Cowboys defense gets dominated by good offenses. I would have gone with someone else. Them picking Quinn over Belichick just shows while their new ownership talks about having a great culture, at the same time their own egos won’t let them hire anyone but a yes man, which is what Quinn essentially will be there.
thank you commanders and 1 minute of silence for your fans
Just waiting for Vrabel to be announced as Dallas DC ……
As a Redskins (Commanders) fan, I am disappointed with this hire and am disappointed more time was not spent going after Mike MacDonald or Weaver. The team will probably be better than 2023, but I do not see Quinn leading this team to consistent playoff appearances.
Quinn and not Vrabel? Wowowow
their records are very similar as HC, but DQ got a team to the SB and he's well liked in the building, whereas Vrabel has a rep now of being an a__hole. If the choice was between only those two, I'd probably go DQ also, but if given a wider choice, I'd want to go with a young offensive hotshot like Slowik or Johnson.
Commanders fan here. I fuking hate this. HATE IT. You forgot to mention his .500 winning record as head coach in Atlanta.
Real redskins fans dont acknowledge the "commanders" name..time for them to change that crap name..Redwolves,Redhogs, Hogs. Or WFT
@@Sky_Blaze I agree. I effing hate it and I usually don't acknowledge it, but this is a national forum and it's just easier here. My hope is, since the Quinn hiring is so unpopular, that they'll pivot to changing the name to something else, to get the fans back in their good graces.
Looks like the Cowboys could use a new coach with success on defense like Belichick.
If Jerry Jones could pull that off that would be sick! Bill would have to be, "look I want to coach and win a Super Bowl." But make no mistake, they're in the title hunt (and probably win a title) if that were to happen.
I'll give Chicago my second overall pick, Jonathan Allen, and Kam Curl for the #1 spot no problem! Welcome to Washington Caleb Williams!
28 points of upside
Seems like commanders traded in for the exact replica. Old, outdated defensive minded coach, who’s supposedly there for culture, but there are always locker room issues or mental breakdowns on the field.
They both coached before. Both in nfc south. Both already had a QB on the roster, who later became MVP, and then lost in the Super Bowl. They both had a fan favorite, hall of fame level wr already on the roster, whom they later unceremoniously got rid of.
They both look like they intentionally haven’t showered in weeks, because they like that “hard work smell”
Out with the old and in with the new is how NFL teams are doing things now.
Dan Quinn is a young Ron Rivera. He's a defensive coordinator who got to the Super Bowl with a franchise quarterback and lost. Can he do that in Washington? Only if they select the best quarterback to play for the Commanders since Sonny Jurgensen! Will it happen? Stay tuned!
Thank God no team hired Brian Flores, or else they might be sued. Don't know why no one raised a stink at how quickly the Pats hired their HC without interview a white dude. 😂
Cowboys should hire Zimmer as DC. He talks to Parce's every week. Then I'd hire Belichek as a 'Consultant' all year.. Off season, pre season and the season. An 'in house' deep coaching clinic. ALL your coaches can get better FOREVER. He has the SWAG they'd be THANKFUL not resentful. And we'd be the envy of the league. Jerry's kids would get lifetime knowledge just we did when Parcels came in
