The answer is no, and I understand older, traditional transits and theodolites. USN ETR-2 68-74, NAS Miramar 70-74, GCA RADAR maintenance. Periodically we were required to FAA flight check the GCA glideslope, which at the time envolved an FAA (usually DC-3) and a theodolite near the runway.

with it on... rotate both axis's, then it will start to display the digital numbers.
