Common Language - 1982 CFNY Talent Search - "Sedated"

Way back when, for a few months each year the Toronto FM station CFNY ran a talent search for indie bands. This group made the cut for at least one week, and I liked the music so much I recorded them when they were up against next week's best act. I don't know who they are or whatever happened to them, but wow I love the power-pop sensibilities of this song. Fantastic voice!!!

COMMON LANGUAGE were a New Wave band from Hamilton ON. Band members: Vocals- Debbie Griffith, Guitar- Eden Curnock, Bass- Brian Pincombe, Drums-Don MacDonald. This song was recorded at 42nd St. Studio. Later recordings were all done at Grant Avenue Studio, with Daniel Lanois. It was an intense period for New Music and CFNY were a huge supporter.
