I love JD and the Porch, thank you for all you do to share Jesus with a broken world. JD is a powerful speaker and I have learned so much from him. I heard JD mention the Enneagram in this episode and recently learned it has roots in New Age occult teachings. I used to love it and think it was a great tool to learn about ourselves until I researched it. I wanted to share this info in case you didn’t know. God bless you.

This message hit home. I was called to ministry so long ago... There's a testimony the Lord's building for me to tell, but... I have held off exactly like this message.

At that last story about his insecurity with basketball, I thought JD would use a totally different perspective. You see, you're not always going to be good at everything you try or have tried. Sometimes you got to accept that your not good at certain things, and with that be confident in what you are good at. Insecurity, pride and ego will get you to try to fit in, to make people think your not less than, to impress people. JD had no intention on actually being good at basketball, his ego and pride made him feel like he had to prove something to himself, and to others including his wife. Imagine me getting a job to prove to myself and others that I'm a hard worker. I get a job and work for a day and do the best possible job. But I have not intentions on coming in the next day. What kind of person is that? Be confident in what your good at, don't focus on what your not good at. Ego, pride, insecurity will get you to do things with wrong intentions and motives. Commit to something, and work to be great at it. Anybody can work hard for a day.

I have a different perspective. I think it means we can be good at anything with dedication, hard work, and right practice like he did over that summer everyday. I love basketball and have played for years and i'm only good at it because of the hard work I put in.

@@usersdksdfg yea that's exactly what I said dude. The intentions about why you do things. You put in years of work cause you want to. Not for any reason but for you. Not in the case with what the pastor was saying, he wanted to prove to others he can play. He didn't want to feel left out. He had no interest in actually sticking with it. Wrong intentions to pursue anything.

@@gabrielgarcia-zw8fu impressive you remember this after 8 months lol. but I think we shouldn't live for our desires and what we want to do, we have to live for God. God put him in this ministry with those people and they like to play basektabll, so even though he doesn't want to he has to to have fellowship. In my church I remember my mentor saying there was a student before that didn't like watching NFL but they did and he told him he has to to particiapte in fellowship
