Whats crazy is reactions arent really hurting the studios revenue. Most people watch reactions to things theyve already seen, and vicariously get to watch it for the first time through someone else's eyes. Its just the studios being petty.

And anybody who's willing to settle for that (assuming they even exist) was most likely never going to pay to see the movie either way. I remember in the early days of letsplay gaming some people wanted to shut that down too for the exact same reason, gamers using copyrighted video game footage they had no legal rights to without permission, before they wisened up to the fact that all it really was for the publishers was a whole lot of free advertising for their products straight into the heart of their target demographics. I hope the music and movie industries eventually wake up and realise that the same is essentially true for reaction videos as well.

I disagree actually. I love watching react channels view my favorite shows, but I can’t remember the last time I actually sat down and watched the show myself. And I probably never will, because I’d rather watch someone else see it for the first time. If that wasn’t an option than I would just rewatch the show myself. That definitely reduces the amount of views a show gets, but obviously this doesn’t apply to first time viewers.
To be fair, the alternative to the current UA-cam system could be much, much worse. Elsewhere, the copyright holders would just deal directly with the people using copyright footage (such as parts of a movie). This means that people like Brandon wouldn't get copyright strikes or demonitization, but letters from lawyers in his mail instead. Instead of having to convince UA-cam staff that their videos are fair use, they might have to convince a judge in a courtroom that their content falls under fair use. That is if he can afford the lawyers to fight such a case in court against a team of lawyers of major movie studios like warner bros, disney, etc. I get that getting demonitized sucks, but getting sued for copyright infringement is definetly way worse. Just take a few seconds and imagine what it would be like getting sued by disney and having to somehow resolve that situation. Reaction UA-camrs may be demonitised or even banned from UA-cam, but at least they're pretty much safe from getting lawsuits (as far as I know). People often underestimate how little risk UA-cam creators who may or may not break copyright law get because of the deals UA-cam has with the copyright holders. UA-cam itself pretty much has no choice. They have to appease copyright holders and provide some sort of way to protect their intellectual property while also not completely screwing over their users. Whatever policy they decide on, it has to be applied to about 30 000 hours of content per hour, so enforcing that with a human workforce in a transparent and consitent manner is simply impossible. The sheer amout of footage on UA-cam is simply to vast and incomprehensibly large to realisticly do that. I'm not suggesting that this system is fair, nor am I suggesting that people like Brandon deserve this. But I do think that pointing the finger at UA-cam isn't entirely fair. Laws are laws, and movie studios don't like it when other people make money with their intellectual property. On any other medium (radio, television, etc.) Copyright infringement is handled way more harshly than here. Punishment for copyright infringements on UA-cam are relatively mild, all things considered. Btw. I'm not a lawyer or anything, this is just my layman understanding of a topic that is interesting, but also very complex. So it's possible that I'm wrong on some of this.

However I do understand that the companies that make these films/shows do own the rights and UA-cam is caught in the middle of these companies and their users. There hopefully will be a resolution to copyright laws to give this new media of 'reaction channels' room to exist.

Nothing posted for close to a year now. I guess he quit UA-cam, or is still trying to find a way forward. Either way, Brandon had lots of fans who appreciated his calm demeanor and sincere reactions. I personally hated solo reaction channels until this guy came along. I hope he's finding success in whatever he's up to now.

You're my fav reactor by far, hate that you're going through such a hard time right now, it must be so frustrating doing all that editing work etc on your vids only to get copyright slammed left and right. And really unfair that you alone get singled out for your NOPE vid, like WTH! I have a suggestion (apologies in advance if they're stupid and you've already tried them): - Have you tried watermarks over the film? - Have you thought about making reactions in multiple parts? I think his account has some sort of hidden flag that makes any videos he uploads get heavily scrutinized more than usual. I don't suppose there is much he can do about it, though I suppose watermarks would be as good an attempt as any and still probably worth trying. It's a little sad, because copyright laws should still technically allow small clips to be used. UA-cam is doing this to avoid any potential lawsuits and in the process is making any reaction content creator's life hell.
Oof Brandon that blows. You are the best movie reactor on this platform and it’s horrible that UA-cam is doing this. These companies need to get with the times and realize reactions do not hurt them. UA-cam needs to fix their system because amazing UA-camrs keep getting hurt by it.

NO what a nightmare man. This happened to me recently with multiple videos all within the span of hours & I put in less footage than others & yeah pain. It all feels so random sometimes.
Never ever count on UA-cam to be reliable. One day they might decide all reaction videos are now demonetized. It has happened with other categories of videos. You should expect them to pull the rug out from underneath you at any moment because that is exactly what they will do.
sounds like they suck and can't be trusted to do anything other than be unfair, inconsistent, and suck, not to mention have no recourse and no due process and no nothing, like a dictatorship.
well its hard when there are hundreds of thousands of channels with more than 100k subscribers, if each one has a small problem, it will take time for it to be fixed
@@oliver-04 this is not about fixing small issues, this is huge flaw in the system, with no creators, youtube will go down. one would expect that they take better care of the hand that feeds them.
@@oliver-04 for example they could switch their system up, so the studios can not randomly claim videos with little to nothing to do for the creator. if the system would be like the studio can make a complaint, and then somebody will check. Cause the current way is free reign for the studios to claim, block and strike whatever they want. the creators get served their punishment, without any kind of evidenc of wrongdoing, how is such a system active in the first place?

The creator is the person that made the film Brandon is reacting to. They are protecting the creator. Brandon isn't a creator. He's just making money off someone else's hard work. Brandon simply doesn't do enough commentary/critique to make it safe. For the most part... we are just watching the movie along with him (albeit a clipped version). To see how the fair use of intellectual property is supposed to be utilized, watch an episode of 'Siskel and Ebert'. They will show 30 seconds total and then talk about the movie for 5 minutes. That's how its supposed to be used.

You may have already done so, but maybe reaching out to other reactors for advice might be a good idea. Leo from Mr Video was having a very difficult time with his videos a few months ago. He got to the point of mixing in music reactions into the movie videos for a month or so just to get them to pass. However he seems to have passed through the storm and seems to be posting normally again. So maybe he learned something helpful or maybe he just got lucky and the scrutiny let up eventually. Good luck man, I hope you don’t have to quit, but with your current situation seeming so sisyphean I can definitely understand your frustration.
Well- that and him getting out of jail recently after a month for smoking weed behind the wheel, which was total bullcrap! A month for some weed? Stupid!

This is happening to another channel I frequent too, around the same time frame as well. The channel is Dead Meat, sucks to see this happening regardless of the amount of blurring or work around with editing
It's also been seeming like Universal is really cracking down on their claims lately.

You're my fav reactor by far, hate that you're going through such a hard time right now, it must be so frustrating doing all that editing work etc on your vids only to get copyright slammed left and right. And really unfair that you alone get singled out for your NOPE vid, like WTH! Hey mate, I'm so gutted to hear about this! I know how finicky CR claims can be. It's so ridiculous how the power balance pushes reactors literally into early retirement out of pure frustration.
I have a suggestion (apologies in advance if they're stupid and you've already tried them):
- Have you tried watermarks over the film?
- Have you thought about making reactions in multiple parts?

I think his account has some sort of hidden flag that makes any videos he uploads get heavily scrutinized more than usual. I don't suppose there is much he can do about it, though I suppose watermarks would be as good an attempt as any and still probably worth trying. It's a little sad, because copyright laws should still technically allow small clips to be used. UA-cam is doing this to avoid any potential lawsuits and in the process is making any reaction content creator's life hell.

Ah gee, man. My NOPE reaction has had 0 issues & I remember being the first one on UA-cam to upload my reaction to it, it’s a miracle I wasn’t copyrighted for it. It’s such a pain, I’ve ran into these issues too, UA-cam need to sort this out.

Never ever count on UA-cam to be reliable. One day they might decide all reaction videos are now demonetized. It has happened with other categories of videos. You should expect them to pull the rug out from underneath you at any moment because that is exactly what they will do.
sounds like they suck and can't be trusted to do anything other than be unfair, inconsistent, and suck, not to mention have no recourse and no due process and no nothing, like a dictatorship.
They don't need to monetise them, they make their money on Patreon. They're just being greedy monetising them.
That is a struggle with these companies, there’s little to any support and people you speak with.
well its hard when there are hundreds of thousands of channels with more than 100k subscribers, if each one has a small problem, it will take time for it to be fixed
@@oliver-04 this is not about fixing small issues, this is huge flaw in the system, with no creators, youtube will go down. one would expect that they take better care of the hand that feeds them.

@@oliver-04 for example they could switch their system up, so the studios can not randomly claim videos with little to nothing to do for the creator. if the system would be like the studio can make a complaint, and then somebody will check. Cause the current way is free reign for the studios to claim, block and strike whatever they want. the creators get served their punishment, without any kind of evidenc of wrongdoing, how is such a system active in the first place?

The creator is the person that made the film Brandon is reacting to. They are protecting the creator. Brandon isn't a creator. He's just making money off someone else's hard work. Brandon simply doesn't do enough commentary/critique to make it safe. For the most part... we are just watching the movie along with him (albeit a clipped version). To see how the fair use of intellectual property is supposed to be utilized, watch an episode of 'Siskel and Ebert'. They will show 30 seconds total and then talk about the movie for 5 minutes. That's how its supposed to be used.

You may have already done so, but maybe reaching out to other reactors for advice might be a good idea. Leo from Mr Video was having a very difficult time with his videos a few months ago. He got to the point of mixing in music reactions into the movie videos for a month or so just to get them to pass. However he seems to have passed through the storm and seems to be posting normally again. So maybe he learned something helpful or maybe he just got lucky and the scrutiny let up eventually.
