I moved from Los Angeles to Auburn in May 1975. I was 9 years old. Before the move, we made some trips to our property in Auburn 1974 where our house was being built and at the same time, Bell Road to I-80 was being built too. It was close to ready to be paved. Our bus made several stops along Hwy 49 from Dry Creek to Bear River, so we got to watch everyday and get stuck in traffic while they widen the Hwy to two lanes late 70's I think it was. Remember riding my bike to empty field with an old gas station on corner and fill up my tires with air. In 1980, it would become K-Mart. Dry Diggins restaurant and bar, it had a few name changes I think, it was popular, it burned down, Target now sits there. K-Hill radio station was right down the street There were 2 Alpine supermarkets, we'd shop at Luther Rd. store. 1977 was a hot summer.
My Grandma owned that courthouse....at least to me she did. She worked on the 2nd floor, took dictation in Superior court next to the judge and was a recorder until she retired. They honored her with an emerald pin she shined. I miss her so much.
Jessa Krissovich We do live in an amazing place, so close to our great outdoors yet close to all the modern conveniences;) Placer County is the placer to be!
wait i live five minutes away from old town auburn i could walk there right now and also i lived in auburn since i was four and im 12 now so now seeing these sights 100's of times its different now
It is a good place to live. People there are not filled with rage, like the SF Bay Area. They are much more friendly and polite. You can also still afford to buy acreage there. And if you do occasionally have to go to the Bay Area, it isn't that far.
Sacramento is pretty hostile, too, and so dirty and filthy. Looks just like Skid Row in some areas, no exaggeration. I'm looking into Auburn. My neighbor just moved there, and is goading me to go, too.
Lived in Auburn back in the mid-1970s... Such a great time in this amazing town!! Truly miss it!!
That is a lot of views! 20k. Good job.

Great place to live but most work for The County or the State or commute to Roseville/Sac for work
The commute's not bad depending on where you are located, for me only about 20 minutes.
