Thank you so much for your time and video promoting the Hurricane Watch Net. It is a labor of love and we are doing our part to hopefully help save lives. Amateur Radio is a Hobby, but, Emergency Service is a Passion!

Can you share with me the way to make a an antenna out of 16 gauge speaker wire for 20-40 meter using a G90? Thanks!

Stay safe. As bad as it will be, I’m glad amateur radio is there to help with it’s core purpose.

Good luck. I got my tech then less than a year later my general. If you use ham radio prep you might just want to do general. I wish I would have just did my general the first time. Just my thoughts. I'm sure you are going to have a lot of fun either way.

Instead of getting my license I just use someone else's call sign from across the country. It's public knowledge name and call sign. If someone checks what area my call sign is from I just say I'm on vacation 😂
      So cool 😎

Please, all, contact your representatives in the Federal Government and express how important it is to preserve, encourage, and grow this hobby. It has been a source of technical and emergency talent for generations -- yet many in our government think that it is outdated in the age of the internet. Natural disasters always prove otherwise. Cuts in FCC funding used to support Amateur Radio are always a problem, and our representatives need to be educated on how unwise defunding is. We should be promoting Amateur Radio in our school systems, and in homeschooling -- it is an ideal curriculum for supporting STEM and creating that next generation of engineering talent.

Very good Eric. This is why we need to save our bands ! You could have had a weather station connected thru like Meshtastic as a example . the 900 MHZ band that some one else wants. This could give weather date to the hurricane center. Someone may be doing that now ! . Stay safe ! 73 from NY

Sitting on my boat down here in La Paz, Baja California Sur. I tuned into the 14.3 network and I can pick up a bit of it. Not so much on the other frequency. I'm not a big ham operator, I just have one on my boat. I assume you guys point your signals towards the area.

Hams need to reorganize their emergency communications. I believe they would be of great value if they were more organized and if the government would help fund equipment and support them in other ways . The radio technology they have should be able to help these people in the rural areas to get help and let families know they are ok.
I looked all over the internet for frequencies and only found on my the NHW frequency. They airwaves should be buzzing with Hams helping these people in need. Maybe I am wrong ?
    Tnx Joe

don't tell a POTA activator about the importance of the HWN on 14.325, and the various nets on 14.300. They'll lose their friggin minds if you tell them that 14.325 is pretty much off limits when a tropical storm or a hurricane is approaching the US. POTA activator: nobody owns a frequency! Well, you are right jaggoff, nobody owns a frequency, but only lids don't familiarize themselves with, or respect, existing net frequencies, and days and times of operation in order to stay clear of long-established nets. But you go ahead and activate your park, jaggoff.

They need a 40 meter frequency listed on the website for region 1 and 3 7.268 MHz is only used in region 2 north and South America and Hawaii or Caribbean that just makes sense this hurricane watch net needs to go beyond hurricanes like cyclones in regions 1 and 3 hf is a world wide ham radio band or bands it just makes sense
