Hey, I just want to say (as a bike nerd aswell) I really enjoy you videos, I think I watched all of them already. Please keep it up, you are making the best (and honest) suspension videos on youtube! I think I came across your channel looking for someone doing the shimano 4pot with non-servowave levers swap. I love this kind of home mechanic nerdery! Thank you.
I will say this test was a bad one. You should never use more then 2 rounds with preload. The initial force that you need to move the coil spring is then altered. The fact that you need a progressive spring, a lot preload and tons of HSC shows that it is not a fit for the Kenevo frame kinematic. At least in original tune.
Was checking this shock out. DVO offers custom builds that they set up for your weight, terrain you ride, and your bike model for an extra $150. Seems like a good deal for being pretty custom set up. Im a fan of coil shocks. Set it up and your done. Not a whoile lot to deal with either other then getting the correct spring rate, and adustiong the rebound and comp
I owned several dvo jade dh shocks on different bikes. Works quite well... for a few rides only. Afterwards, they must be bleed as they suck air in. Full service and rebuild does not help. Had to replace both of them. For coil shocks, IFP or bladder does not make any difference in term of performance. Note: im a over 100kg kitted riding very aggressivly. If you are lighter then may be you would have more luck with their bladders.
I've been considering the RC2T. I weigh 200 pounds, 93kg. I didn't think the sensitivity of a coil mattered. Mainly considering the RC2T because of the bottom out resistance. But I don't really much drops. The largest usually are slightly over handlebar height and that's pretty rare. So I definitely would value sensitivity over possibly better bottom out resistance.
Something I've been looking at is coil shocks but man my heads burst with it already lol! Have been hearing good things about the Jade X but I have a trunion mount 205x65 float X jsut now just got a cracking deal on brand new 2024 X2 still want a coil though all I ran before family took over the free time 😂 now all changed
Sick video, I have always wondered about DVO, wasnt sure if it was some tacky brand! What shock would you recommend for a Megatower V2 for local level enduro racing/bikepark and black+ trail rides?
I have the 22 jade x (185x55) with the 500 pounds LS spring on my trance X29 it's there since last October, since the dpx2 has left the chat. No regrets it's plush and active... *Absolutely no maintenance. Knocking on wood 😅
I just bought the same shock, have the same bike, but went with a 550 LS spring. I can't wait to try it. I upgraded to the Bomber CR and while I really liked it, I need a lock out and I get that with the Jade X.
@@OtterMTBtech nice! Need a new coil and can't decide between these two. They both offer some nice features for the price but your review of the other rockshox coil made me skeptic of the vivid as well..
I've watched quite a few of these videos, sometimes I wouldn't agree on everything claimed and it might be hard to judge what trails and how aggressively you hit them based on those camera angles . That said, there's a pattern and it seems like you can indeed spot the difference and also put it to words. Also you test a wide array of products. And a joke never hurts too . Keep em coming I guess
Dont you brake the rear shock linkage weekly? I had that shat kenevo. Broke it half 3-4 times and had to given it back… its for flats, seems like you know already… hence flats exclusively

@@OtterMTBtech Im currently on Canyon Torque:ON Roczen Version, and slash gen 5 the canyon does have a rattle of the ep801 and creaking headset badly (while perfectly adjusted) but it is a TANK durability wise. nice to see you also surpassed that other bike. Well...if the only thing negative PB could come up with is that it weighs 100g too much than that is a REALLY good review? I bad review would be "dont like range of damping" " dont like reliability" or other things that matter. i mean weight at this point is almost like saying you dont like the color. So I say PB did a great job and gave the shock some good ol praise.
@@OtterMTBtech Sorry...not PB (I just saw the pink bike afterwards and thought it was from PB) - Loam Wolf. I mean he really gives that fork HIGH praise in the review and really only had one complaint about it - and 100g is a nothingburger. So I would argue that the Loam Wolf review is a very positive one and I dont understand why you chose to highlight the one "negative" thing. Also -in the review they actaully say that those 100g are probably a good thing as he feels that it aided in the vibration dampening...not sure if that is true though.
Yoke bikes have too much flex and so much so Fox have went steal body on there coils instead of alloy, I found 2019 I went through 5 shocks Fox DHX2 coil factory, as they kept leaking from the top eyelet and the shock shaft was bending and then leaking from the seal head. So much so on the Specialized they dropped the coil and give the air shock fitment only. Fox give me a Fox X2 air factory and it was nearly there but for aeration of the oil but they changed the internals as a update so the seal heads piston etc was revised to the new 2024/25 mods and it's been great so far.

Your right it’s not a good fit for my bike, and being in the heavy weight class, makes things challenging
Over preload is better than under springed

Try the stock one, it’s great unless your very thin or heavy
Full lockout copression? On my DVO Topaz, that setting is approaching locked out, and I have it set up for a big guy.
