I came here to say the same thing. In all the videos I have seen there is some pretty solid musical taste on display. Misfits, System, Danzig, Gojira, Ghost. I would work out at this gym for sure. At my gym I have to listen to all of this on ear buds which I don't really like to do because I feel it takes away from my situational awareness. Otherwise I have to listen to the conversations of the elderly and country music... I'll take the earbuds... for now.
I went to a new gym today. They had one squat rack for their huge space, and it was taken. I am looking at your setup and I wish there were some gym owners like you in my area!
I very much appreciate how hands on you are Alan, I see so many people getting the numbers on there main lifts up but never even lifting a finger to use the strength that they have obtained... keep it up!
Allan, you're a cool dude. It was actually interesting watching you work on the gym floor. I always wondered how that stuff was setup. Keep up the great videos!
There are many a world champions that would do there last heavy day 14 days out. In fact the great Dave Jacoby told me his last heavy workouts were 21 days out all the way up to 30 days. In my own training I have hit PR's not training for 24 days.
Hello Alan. Will you talk about how to make own Meet Week training or talk over the principles which lifter should apply while creating it? Good look at your meet, I keep my fingers crossed!
Alan, you are killing me man. Please wear a mask when working with concrete dust. That stuff is terrible for you even with minimal exposure. Great videos, really appreciate you doing such great work.
Has anybody chimed in on how you used the wrong product, for a patch that small you needed a mortar mix not concrete. You're patch with pop out in a short period of time. When it does get something like rapid set mortar mix, vacuum out the dust, apply a masonry bonding agent, then the mortar patch.
You needed to put concrete bonding agent before you poured and trowled the new cement, your looking at a year and all your cement will pop. Better luck next time! :)
Question for you sir I was lifting regularly 3 days a week and then I stopped for a good two weeks. I tried going back into it and had a small cramp in my thigh. Any suggestions on how to get back into the swing of things again?
As a gym owner, do you often want to train more than 4 days a week since you're already there anyway? Even if it's lower-intensity isolation training to work on improving weak areas or do you stay strict to your program so as to not over/under train? Have you ever had periods in your training where you trained more or less than 4 days per week?
Jakob Mayr that's kinda how mine is now lol, I have 4 days each focuamaed on one of the 4 compound lifts, 1 day for training cleans and some direct arm work and the 6th day is a bodybuilding/easy day just to workout whatever I feel like
Rob S i would still make the 6th day a planned push pull workout or so. If you just randomly do exercises it will not get you anything as a natty. You need to progressively overload on everything. I used to do the exact same mistake.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Starting Strength. The progressive overload is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of overhead press form, most of the barbells will go over a typical lifters head. There's also Rippetoes nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his number of sets - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Zyzz's routine, for instance. The lifters understand this stuff; they have the glute development to truly appreciate the depths of these squats, to realize that they're not just below parallel- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike starting strength truly ARE DYELs- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the rep range in Rippetoes day B of squats, which itself is a cryptic reference to Zyzz's initial workout method. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Rippetoes genius unfolds itself on their lowerbody. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a lower back injury. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5kg of my own squat (preferably lower) beforehand.
Its were the concrete met in the floor and when have lots of people throughout the days and weeks it ware's. It definitely did not happen over night ! ;-) :-)
Almost like Alan's gym floor, where two concrete slabs meet each other. Only repeated 600-lbs deadlifts slamming down from lockout can put a dent in that.
Alan you are so fucking strong! 240 ohp?? Thanks for the motivation homie.
It is real nice how you do your own work.
Damn Alan, listening to some quality music while working out! Ghost, Gojira, same things I've been listening to lately.
Caught some Red Fang as well.
Danzig.

I have no idea why this is so relaxing to watch

truly deeply in love with this guy!!! after having followed you for a whole year, I consider you a true source of inspiration! simply: thank you Alan!
I very much appreciate how hands on you are Alan, I see so many people getting the numbers on there main lifts up but never even lifting a finger to use the strength that they have obtained... keep it up!
When you said the damage was bad I thought you meant like the entire slabs were split, thats just some impact damage. Glad it was such an easy fix!
your "video production" quality has gotten almost too legit lol
mactimo 2 legit 2 quit
Alan Thrall in the summer's heaviest comedy -- Rack Space
This is good content. Hearing you talk through everything is super helpful.
I fear the surface repairs that you have done will not last. Next time chip out a deeeper, bigger square in the concrete.
Dan Stennis Same thing will just happen but even faster.
Just wonna say that the quality of the video is amazing, congrats man!
I like the 03:05.
"You could Hurry up and finish this Alan that'd be great" 😂
Love hearing Gojira's "Stranded" in the background. Solid choice.
Allan, you're a cool dude. It was actually interesting watching you work on the gym floor. I always wondered how that stuff was setup. Keep up the great videos!
Just finished my deadlift platform and amazed how easy people make cutting the stall mats look. Definitely got a bit crooked here
You so cute and strooong! been following you for about a year now

Great beard, strong man and can lay down concrete, my hero
3:06- Man, you missed the glasses!! Spot-on impression though.
Heard some Ghost at 8:00, fuck yea. See them live if you ever get the chance, they put on a great show.
Good luck man!
More of these vids would be nice 👍

You needed to put concrete bonding agent before you poured and trowled the new cement, your looking at a year and all your cement will pop. Better luck next time!
:)
Glancing at the thumbnail, I thought Allan cracked the floor while squatting.
Hey Alan you should meet David Crowder and compare beards.
gzzzzz Hulk made a visit to untamed strength
I laughed when I saw the thumbnail but 3:03 was hilarious
Your gym is awesome :)
Did you add anything to the cement to make sure it bonds with the old cement? I need to patch an atlas stone crater...
Projected max is 531?!?! Rip I have passed from a lethal dose of irony
Question for you sir
I was lifting regularly 3 days a week and then I stopped for a good two weeks. I tried going back into it and had a small cramp in my thigh. Any suggestions on how to get back into the swing of things again?
When doing press, does the bar need to touch the upper pecs? What do starting strength rules say?
Are you allowed that little bounce at the bottom of the rep that you are using for your OHP ?
Strong af!
how would u guys deal of adding a platform on an uneven floor? i think i have one....:(

Rob S just workout everyday already
Jakob Mayr lol I train 6 days a week since I have a relatively easy work schedule, but many people follow a 4 day split and are still extremely strong
Rob S you could split a 4 day into a 6 day split so you the same work but with better recovery. Or just add 2 easy bodybuilding days to a 4 split.
Jakob Mayr that's kinda how mine is now lol, I have 4 days each focuamaed on one of the 4 compound lifts, 1 day for training cleans and some direct arm work and the 6th day is a bodybuilding/easy day just to workout whatever I feel like

Were those shims you were using permanent or did you use something else to get everything flat?
ps... if you decide to come to visit WA let me know!
Yo, was that Misfits playing in the gym in the first minute or two?
Do you ever use RPE to autoregulate your volume rather than your weight?
bloody hell, thought alan was goin for a 405 OHP 6:00
Was expecting you to break the ground while doing a squat haha
Yo was that Misfits playing in the gym in the first minute or two?
which lifts do you recommend doing for boxers?
anyone know what shoes he's wearing for deads?
Why dont you squat on the racks or with safeties?
Listening to Red Fang, good shit !
I thought you taught and used the thumbless squat grip. Did you change? if so why? Just curious.
Love the content as always, keep inspiring us. Glad to see you joined up with barbell medicine, congrats Alan.

Dank.
Rip and Morty.
/fit/ is here.
Imagining a 'lady' 5kg within a my squat now
If you lift more than 75kg I'm worried..

How is the floor taking such a beating despite the Deadlift platform?
Its were the concrete met in the floor and when have lots of people throughout the days and weeks it ware's. It definitely did not happen over night ! ;-) :-)
GTM-LIFTS So there should be no worries for the others to go out? I would hope. Makes me nervous since I Deadlift at home. Lol.
The concrete will be weaker at the point where it meets so putting a bunch of stress (deadlifting) on that point day in day out is bad
! YES ! The others will be fine ! :-)
Oh, Snap!
new press tutoriall pleaseee
BILL LUMBERGH!!!!!!
