Great advice. I'm learning piano age 53 and struggling trying arpeggios. I was doing that exact twisting my hand. You explained it way better than my teacher. Thanks 😊
Excellent and timely lesson, Gary. I've come back to the piano (electronic keyboard) at 75 amd and am trying to undo the awful habits I developed as a youth (piano, not the other sort😂) due to bad piano teachers. Getting rid of hand and wrist tension is a must. Your instruction is just what I need. Thank you Gary🎉
This was a great reminder to work on technique, even when it means sacrificing some musicality in the moment. That momentary sacrifice always pays off in the long run. Thanks Gary!
I struggled with exactly what you said. I tried to turn my hand so i can reach the next key, which just didnt really work well. But now, especially with the up and down motion of the lower arm everything just sort of falls into place. Im by no means consistent yet with my arpeggios, but they are getting better, and it feels much more organic!
Hi Papa Gary, I'm 70 and stil practicing piano excercises, do you know which Czerny 's book it is ? practical finger studies ?(I have several ones but didn't find this study ) thank you
It's an out of print edition from the 1920s. Has some editor revisions that are good for beginning and intermediate students. I use it in my online teaching.

What is the name of the piece your playing from ?
Carl Czerny exercises. The edition is out of print.
What number of Czerny? PLEASE @@papagarymusic
Your volume levels are very bad, some parts I can't hear what you are saying - at all.
