Rain
Billy Duffy signature model Gretsch Black Falcon
The Cult
My husband Paul, recently bought the Black Falcon in the video from Billy -- shortly after, Billy reached out and invited us to the soundcheck in San Antonio and to meet him personally.
He was very nice and friendly -- talked to us for quite awhile. Later that night, he played the Black Falcon for 2 songs during The Cult set. Billy is total class -- amazing talent and a great person to meet.
Billy Duffy can hold his own with the best of them. No frills just thrills
Billy is just the real deal. Loving it for more than 35+ years.
Here's Billy doing one of my fave Cult songs. Awesome! He makes the Gretsch look easy and it's not. Thank you Billy for being YOU.
An absolutely amazing guitarist!
This is the greatest thing about the internet.
Well hell yeah! The GREAT Billy Duffy making it "Rain"! I love this! Thanks for sharing Candy!
You bet!
So rare! :)
this is so... fantastic...great sound...what a guitarist..
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome!
Probably my favorite band.
This is so cool! Billy is awesome! Love this man! ❤💖
Um dos maiores de nosso tempo!!!!
This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
Would’ve killed to have been there! Just MEGA!🔥Duffy is just so badass and such a good dude!🙏🏻🎧
Duff doing what he does best , incredible.
Can't wait to see them in November local to me.
That guitar playing and sound is sublime
He was in our local pub just over a week back
I was just going to say! He looks all pubbed out! Usually, Billy Duffy is a very skinny and in shape guy.
What pub?
OMG I've been trying to get one of these G-7593-BD Black Falcons for over 6 years! Only 46 made and Billy owns 2 of them.
Well….. Billy only owns one now… we got this one after the San Antonio show! :)
Have you seen Billy’s ‘ rig rundown ‘ vids ? Worth a look .
@@alanblight9233 Many times yes. Sorry had to sign in under another account. In fact my first pedal board is built around his setup.
The master Cult ever 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sounds awesome. in the late 70's as a teenager i worked back stage at a Heart concert just setting up tables of food etc for the large crew before the night's show.
Me being a 'guitar player' kid, i heard someone playing so i walked around to the front of the stage similar to this and saw Roger Fisher warming up. I was amazed, so i stared at him for a while as he played all kinds of things lots of leads and just a great player. After a while he might have got tired of me staring at him and he made a face at me lol , so i moved on and went back to milling around the area . Then Nancy Wilson suddenly showed up on roller skates and skated around the large open arena and smiled at me when she skated by, ahhh rock and roll.
Billy you're a humble guitar hero. I try but i still can't play what you make easy.
Awesome!!! Wish it was Longer.
Rock on 🎸🎶🤘
Magical!!! Thank you for this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ow man...😱😱😱😱😱😱😱👌👌👌👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
The coolest
INCREDIBLE. THANK YOU FOR SHARING !!!
If H E has to focus on this: 1) He is a 100% professional master perfectionist. And 2), Imagine how hard it really is.
Thought it was Jim Royle - brilliant .
👍😊❤️
Wow thanks
Tone as thick as molasses!
👍
cool AF
Candy Christensen, good afternoon! Please, an information: it was Mr. Mike Mangan on vocals? Thank you!
Yes - it is Mike. Ian was not at the soundcheck
@@Pchristensen20 thank you! ☝🏻👍🏻
I will be posting a couple new sound check ones from Pittsburg show this week.
@@pc399 Thank you so much! Amazing! :)
That would be the crew
I'm lucky to own one. Going to the grave with me.
We have always wonder who owns the other signature black falcons. We never see people post that they have one. So few were made. We are thrilled to own one, especially one that was owned by Billy himself!! Ours is super special to us!
@@pc399 Played by Duffy, wow. I just own the Black Signature model. I went to a few guitar sites back when it was being promoted and one shop had one in stock. Instant purchase.
Im still waiting for his thin body Les Paul signature that he teased a few years ago.
@@DirtyxLarry This is Paul -- buyer of Billy's Black Falcon in the video. I searched and searched for years to buy a Sig model Black Falcon. I have a sig model White Falcon but the Blacks were no where to be found. I called Gretsch and they said only 46 were ever made. You are very, very lucky to have one! When i had the chance to buy Billy's I couldn't believe it -- I jumped at the chance. I also own a black 1968 custom shop Les Paul Custom i bought in 2019 from Billy Duffy, which is what ultimately opened the door to buying the Black Falcon. Apparently Billy still owns 1 more Black Falcon, he said he only ever had 2 of them. Not sure why he let this one go -- other than he said he's not much of a collector of gear. When we met him in San Antonio he raved about how good the Black Falcon in the video is -- seemed almost sad to let it go. I told him i would never sell it -- unless it was to sell it back him. He chuckled and said "i might do that" ... ha ha. It was fun to see him play it live at the San Antonio show for 2 songs for the last time. Plus, his guitar tech explained in detail how Billy has his Falcons uniquely set up. Very interesting.
@@Pchristensen20 cool story and congradulations on your purchase. My son also loves good quality guitars.
It's a show too ! 😂
Is that his white '73' Baldwin up in the rack? I thought he'd retired that one?
Oh pchristensen20 is going to have to answer that question! Idk?! He is the gear geek!
Is that the same guitar tech Billy’s had all along ?
No -- it's Rem, who is the back up tech. Matt, his normal tech wasn't available for the tour
i dont know how he can play the guitar hanging down so far like that, i have tried, no chance
Has to be hard on the back. Billy has a little help - the higher strings on the guitar have higher action making it easier for him to get those higher notes with the falcon hanging low. But still impressive nonetheless
Loved the Cult past tense , Ian needs a major overhaul I think the Cult is representative of a group that wasted golden opportunities multiple times thanks to Ian, sadly the Cult realized their potential long after their popularity had eroded and they now seem desperate to breathe life into a fire that's long dead but for the nostalgia. Like a chicken with it's head cut off the feet are still kicking but the Cult is already dead RIP
Meh....
