Having an evil, super intelligent, pseudo-fashist slug as one of the major villains was honestly a transcendent idea and I would absolutely keep it. I think it'd be obvious to connect him with the casual slug slave trade (and make that an actual storyline), or maybe make him Black's Pericles
I want this show back. Maybe a soft reboot could work. They would need to trim some things here and there, set a stable number of episodes per season, plan a consistent release schedule, and update the animation. The potential is all there, it just needs to be used properly.
I think I probably doing more with Kord's and Pronto's races for an arc or two rather than the occasional appearance of one or two characters could have given them more to play with than just kicking bad guys down holes and maybe expand on what "Slug Fu" actually means than just waving your hands before shooting the slug, especially as Kord's people tend to be the tech wizards while Pronto's seem like the natural subterranean inhabitants, rather than just focusing on human conflicts with the forces of "ghoul".
I'm so glad that someone else feels the same way about Junjie's character. Like the whole Eastern Caverns felt like a bad stereotype to me and just made me disappointed since I thought it would be this really cool breath of fresh air for the setting designs in SlugTerra.
I would reboot it Winx Club style: each season would have to unlock a new method of slug bonding to utilize more powers alongside the more corruptive abusive methods of "ghouling". Tad could move into the more anti-hero lane, never ghouling Piper, but ghouling his other slugs. Bring Blakk back as an anti-villain with Eli's dad and him having an uneasy alliance
I have thought for a long time about how I'd rewrite Slugterra. It's an amazing setting with weak writing and I really want to adapt its ideas into something that I like more. Unsure of what medium though.
For a reboot( and mind you this is from a person who last saw the show when I was less than 10 Now 15 on Netflix and not on air.) I’ll keep the characters the same but add more depth. Like each character will have a mini arc. Expanded the world building where every so often we go to a new cavern where they have different type of people, fighting styles, government, and even how they treat their slugs. Have villains on different scales. Some are pure evil, others have justifiable reasons, and others are actually in the right. And have it where each plot points you hinted at in a last season. The next season you’ll follow that up as soon as possible. Like that all be the number one goal of the writer. And that’s really it. Sorry if it’s to long or not in depth. I haven’t seen this show in years and forgot about it until I saw your videos.
It's a real shame it ruined itself. Seen it happen before. It's interesting how some stories have to be planned out to work, and others can evolve as they go on, this one they did the latter but the kind of story it is the former would work better.
I honestly would just bring the show to this era of animation, since the show was good it it's just a product of the times, if it was done today, I'm cautiously confident that they could make it better
What's weird about slug fu is that it's really useless if you think about it burpy can already change direction like episode 1 eli shots a slug for the first time and again fight the electric guy, doc did it fighting the ghoul, sometimes stop like with the siren or am I wrong kord made a machine to redirect slug and doesn't have to be any special slug after on so am I meeting something
I never got to watch an entire series of Slugterra because random episodes would just be put on back to back on the network, so these deep dives are letting me see it all come together. It would've been neat if Eli's father just tagged along, telling his son to continue being a leader and he'd work on making up for being absent for so long by supporting him any way he could. I mean if he never did anything in the story anyway then he might as well have been a background character, at least his story would've been resolved. He was corrupted prior to being healed by Doc so maybe he decides to stay out of the spotlight as he doesn't want to taint his original image as a hero or cause any more trouble for those who had problems with him. I love doing 'what ifs' for poorly written franchises that I like but I feel I'd need to watch everything before I could really start. XD
Honestly I've never seen anyone dislike Junjie this much. I was in the OG fandom when he was introduced in 2014 and everyone LOVED him. He literally was fan favorite. I will say if you don't like Junjie you're not gonna like the eastern caverns arc as it's literally only about him. Also it is pronounced Jun-Jay because I think that's how it's said in Mandarin. It means handsome hero. And while the name for the slug fu sounds honestly a little... racist, not gonna lie, I do think that it was an idea that they never used for one of Nerd Crop's other shows (the company that originally made slugterra) that got canceled on Cartoon Network called Storm Hawks although it involved crystals not slugs so they threw it in with this show Also one more thing to add maybe to shed some light but I think the reason why they reused so many of the same models in the Eastern Caverns is because of budget problems I can't remember the exact reason but I know they did spend a lot of money on making the technicians hideout and the Pyritor monster. Which sucks I would have loved to have seen a different culture in the Eastern Cavens and different slugs even but that didn't happen Also also maybe this might just be my experience personally I don't think the show went into decline after the eastern caverns but more after into the shadows. You can see in into the shadows they had a bigger budget because the animation was more vibrate and they had new assets or whatever. But when it came out people were sooooo pissed that they created a son for Dr. Blakk and so mad they got rid of Junjie that a lot of them left. And they made Tad do the same thing as Twist, who was also a fan favorite, that a lot of people kinda dipped. And slugterra wasn't making a lot of money with toys. It wasn't like the big bad boys of the time like mlp. Oh also forgot that that a huge portion of the fandom was in Mexico too. They were the bulk of the show's fandom and kept it running for so long. Oh I’m not in this fandom, but reading this comment, if his name is meant to be Mandarin, it would actually be pronounced more like “Jun-j-eh”! It’s not a perfect representation of the sound, but it’s the easiest for me to explain in English alfhskdjs. I don't get what was the point of the Eastern Caverns. Slugterra had already the 99 caverns and the number of them that were fleshed out in any real capacity was in the single digits. The show had built up a pretty sizeable cast of recurring characters (King of Sling, Mr Saturday, Locke and Lode, etc) only to throw them all away in favor of completely new characters that no one cared about. I'm not saying Mr Saturday was particularly fleshed out, but he had enough going for him that he was worth keeping around (or at least better than what they did with Eastern Caverns) Into the Shadows feels like they saw how badly Eastern Caverns performed and decided to go back to what they know, and while the return of several minor characters was neat, the main plot was even worse than Eastern Caverns. Honestly they should've gone all in with returning to earlier seasons. Have Blakk and the Dark Bane return and make the main plot be about saving Eli's dad. At least it would be an actual conclusion to the story
Since the company who own Slugterra wants to sell toys, I would make the story a "sports anime." The story would center around team work and befriending the slugs. Haikyuu was solely based on professional volleyball only, so I don't think they even need a dark underground tournament like in "sk8 infinity" to make it interesting. They would then be able to add filler whenever they need to, and if the characters are likable enough, people wouldn't mind.
Scrap seasons 4-6 for starters. 2) Eastern Caverns being separate and not having contact with the other 99 Caverns was always an actual retcon; thanks to an episode from the first 3 seasons having a throwaway line about how parts to their mechs are imported from the Eastern Caverns. A literal, "Everything comes from China" type "joke". But non the less, the 4 season now has it that the Eastern Caverns are not part of the actual 99, but apparently have been closed off for centuries if not longer? No! Back when this show was good and on Disney XD, there was a lot of talk about Eli needing to keep the surface a secret and vice versa. Sure would have been fun to have them explore the idea that there might be other ways to get back up to the surface. Season 6 had almost a good idea with Blak's son being from the surface too, and I was really expecting a, "Blak is your uncle, Eli!" moment. Or instead of, what I always assumed was Eli's parents being divorced and his mom possibly may or may not have known about SlugTerra , have it reveal that his mom is from SlugTerra, and that his parents' relationship wasn't necessarily bad, but complicated. Also, if they wanted to rip off anything in Avatar, it should have been the Drill episode. Imagine an hour and a half special where he has to stop the conspiracy theorist guy from drilling upward. Lastly, the elemental thing and the whole spirituality with the slugs. The show literally had cowboys and indians with the whole Shadow Clan being so obviously Native American coded. They should have done more with that. It's right there.

Pretty much lol. When Eli and Max defeated their established antagonists. The writers were just throwing ideas at a wall and hoped something would stick. And unfortunately it didn’t.
I think i would have not brought back doctor black instead hint at the dark bane god. after the 3rd season i would have kept the introduction of jun jie but I would make it that he had one of his elis dads slugs. They would then explore how jun jie even got to the central caverns in the first place. they would find the portal and travel to the eastern caverns where it turns out his dad was there and helped form a resistance but dissappeared soon after and the first half would be confronting his mistakes as the dark slinger and the terror he caused. the 2nd half would be him regaining the trust of the eastern caverns and taking down the emperor and learning there are 3 more caverns and that the emperor was a pawn of the dark bane god and the dark bane god has 2 more pawns. the northern tundra caverns, the tropical southern caverns and the ancient caverns. The tundra caverns would have a new slinger named vlad with and ice infernus flames so cold they freeze instead of burn and he is trying to free his caverns from the cruel control of the Tepesh clan who rule with an iron fist with their leader Vlad who uses a vampiris slug that drains slug energy but the tepesh clan is forcing them to do it and are being abused. it would be revealed that vlad was trained by elis dad and gave him the knowledge to build blasters and fight against the clan. you learn after the dark healer disappeared he ended up in this cavern you learn he was an abused slug and he took the chance to become the dark slug but after seeing the vampire slugs he teams up with jun gie to rescue them. He slowly warms up to the real jun jie and then eventually gets purified back into a good slug deciding he doesnt want to be an evil slug and the whole season is about his healing from abuse. They would learn that to defeat the dark bane god they need 5 special slugs each with the infernus title. The Tropical Caverns would be short in which they need they discover that there is nobody living in this cavern and that all the residents were lost a long time ago it looks like a ruined civilization and they discover a great war happened between 2 factions which wiped out both sides but the good side hid the Aqua infernus and its a race to get it before the dark bane hunter and they discover that elis dad has the final infernus the ancient infernus The ancient cavern which would be the final chapter the dark bane god breaks out and they have to stop him

I was a big fan of the early seasons. never really watched the later stuff, mostly because I didn't know there was newer stuff, and my attention was moving towards youtube rather than tv. but seeing how the later seasons went, it does not surprise me that these cute lil slugs got the axe. when you go for all these gimmicks, don't flesh them out, don't go all the way, don't make it interesting, and then also don't have a good antagonist? well, that's just not a recipe for success

I never watched Slugterra, but based on what I've learned about it from these videos, it kinda seems like it was an in-between of Spider Riders and Dragon Booster... I liked Spider Riders just fine, but I never really got into Dragon Booster. 🤷
the best part about Slugterra is the worldbuilding. I like the way nature relies on the slugs, and it isn't like they're mini-gods or deities, instead there are actual repercussions of abusing them/ghouling then. However, the storytelling needs work. First of all, all the main characters are just invulnerable, like they get punched into walls and can still fight. the only weakness is probably Junjie's guilt, and even in that there isn't a lot of storytelling. like, where are the character arcs?
Honestly if I was to reboot the show, I would go back to using Goon Doc as the main villain, never bring up the eastern caverns, and backtrack to using advanced tech to replicate techniques (the fusion blaster), since I feel the sci-fi aspect was more beloved than some mystic stuff. Oh and as a whole the show would be slightly darker, because the main audience is now preteens and teenagers, not kids. It’s a pipe dream after all. Death can happen, and should happen. Eli’s dad is definitely given the “mind controlled but then to save my son I kill myself before I kill him” treatment. Let the show talk about heavier topics, make ghouling slugs overtly more like pollution. So many options.

If I could reboot Slugterra, I would get rid of Pronto entirely sorry I just couldn't stand his character what so ever he was so focused on himself and getting glory, and being a mole... yeah he's a bit of a gold digger so Pronto is gone but I'm keeping the other characters. Plot, is something I would gladly try to fix, maybe start with Eli's early life on the surface, how his dad taught him about Slugterra and the slugs there and have his wife, we'll call her Jane ultimately being so against her son going there even at 15 years old to the point where Eli's uncle, I'm assuming his mom's brother is of course on Will's side here and fully supports Eli going there and soon after hearing this she leaves Eli with his uncle and then, Eli meets Burpy and gets the blaster from his dad and he goes down to Slugterra and meets, Kord and Trixi two people who's parents were also part of the Shane Gang. Of course there will be small hints of romance between characters, mostly because I ship Trixi and Eli since they met, ignore that if you wish. Now then there will be 2 to maybe 4 episodes to flush out each cavern and of course the gang will gain a new member in the form of Twist who they will eventually meet at the half way point of the first season. Villains, they will of course be the Dark Bane, Dr. Black, his son, the Shadow Clan (Will become Allies), and the big bad will be Goon Doc

So in 2022 they actually came out with a couple of shorts (emphasis on SHORT) called "Slugterra: Ascension". And it's so bad, you guys, it's so bad. It's just Trixie and Eli bumbling around doing absolutely nothing, looking for some slug and Locke and Load are there for some reason? And then Dr. Blakk shows up? And it's supposed to be a twist but it's not because they show his silhouette and his silhouette is so recognizable there is zero question as to who he is? Also the new slug is dumb? And also also, they changed Eli's voice actor and he sounds like a Chad. It's bad.
I heard somewhere else that some of the creators behind this show also made "Storm Hawks". And just based off of what I can remember, I think Storm Hawks is better, but I can see some similarities between them. I would like to see a video going into Storm Hawks as well since it's been a while since I've seen it and would like to hear about it more.
I would bring back twist for one. He was such and intresting chracter. Chalaging Eli's morals on what's good and bad. And what'll happen to Black's workers after everything. Change the eastern cavern to more east. Culture people ain't that hard. Bring up Eli's trouma with his parents and his insucirites as the shane. It took him a year to even mention his mother. Something went on there. Being compared to his dad over and over again has got to hurt. He definitely had self cofedince issues like in the first two episode, play it up. The culture of slugs and slugterra. Is it really hard to make a fictional culture?! No it's not. I'm a writer! Take bits and peices from real life culture! Bring back Dina as well. She was such an investing character. Wanting to unlock the Shane mistery almost as much as eli. And having a connection to the shadow clan though the shadow walker like Eli has the shadow talker. How Black got to the surface to slugterra. How did be get from the surface to slugtera. I thought only the shanes could. Get rid of slugfu or change it. don't make it a fighting style make it a mythical connection. If not don't keep it. Also, leaves his dad dead. I hate the I was never dead or coming back from the dead trop Also expand on the shadow clan, trolls, moleinoids, those I think elves (some of them look like elves), and there cultures. Expand the world! Expand the people! Make them believable. Trixie, cord, pronto, Eli's family and lives before the shan gang. The notable side character and how they came to be. How some caverns you can only ride mechs on the right side while others you can't ride mechs at all. Make the world a WORLD!
Holy sh*t, I agree 100% with you. I would also like to add Will Shane being the reason why Dana's dad not being alive (explicitly), a little gray zone for morality. Not everything heroes do is always morally correct. This would make Eli to have an interesting development as a character when finds out the truth about Dana's father death, and that also would explain clearly Dana's bitterness towards Will Shane and his legacy. I think that other interesting concept that was never explored was Quentin's roboslugs. If he made an AI algorithm for his roboslugs that makes itself better after each battle, he could beat every slug and almost any slugslinger. Basically he could create a super artificial intelligence that can excel it's own algorithm after any duel, a supercomputer whose only purpose is to wipe slugs and slugslingers from existence, putting slugterra under a great danger.
What I want to know is why no new slug species were introduced in the Eastern Caverns? It's an entirely separate ecosystem that should have its own endemic species. 😒
I remember in the last video you said this was like pokimone. And i was reminded of a Netflix anime i just finished watch called 'My Damon' hope i spelt that right. Also about a boy who had a great affinity with the Damon creatures, though he was able to go on his quest because his mum was killed. And he had no dad around. Lots of blood too , so i suppose a more grown up pokimone. I really liked it, but i just sat there every episode like wow thats just like pokimone. Oh look thats like pokimone. Now that I think about it Slugterra has a huge potential as a video game in my opinion. Like, I don't care about the plot here, but if you adapt the setting and the lore correctly you could have Counter Strike mixed with Pokemon with a sprinkle of Red Dead Redemption on the top. Ironically, the biggest problem with turning this TV show into a video game is the fact that it's a TV show and they don't really tend to be adapted into huge, triple A games
I seen the first season and got board. It reminds me too much of a number of mid-'00s action cartoons, but this suffers from being TOO bland and generic for its own era and genre. I have seen good action shows from that time, and the bar for what is good is fairly high. While that character designs are solid, character personalities and story wise, it just feels low-effort. How I would have done better? Well, firstly, make the characters compelling and developing. Like with the girls on W.I.T.C.H. and Ahsoka Tano, I'll have them fail repeatedly until they get less reckless and think things through. I'll have Switch start off with the team and make him really likeable so his betrayal hits even harder. Like with Fast & Furious and Star Wars Rebels, the goal of the team is to become a found-family. Setting wise... While I get the "slug = bullet" theme, I would have it so that the slug are used as batteries able to produce an exotic energy source as opposed to JUST being projectiles, as the theme is just #%&@ing stupid! I would have made the cultures of Slugterra interesting, with customs fairly alien from what we are used to, but pulls you in.

I remember watching both seasons 5 and 6 through clips on UA-cam a few years back, I remember rewatching Slugarria during covd, I just rewatched 1-4 so many times. What I thought for Tad for the longest time was that it was probably the mom's side from the surface. Rewrite Jung Ji, like the eastern caverns are under China, but there is so much that doesn't make sense. They never decided on Eli's enictcty, the multiple places the portal can go to( four places),. The portal itself was too simple, like do the thing where it has a few rings and a certain combination for certain places. Also if the people from the eastern caverns are from China, where the hell is the language barrier? Like, how do they all know the same language, and how do the humans down there survive without severe viatim defiaceis. Also how do they have a day night cycle? How do all the cycles that keep earth alive even work down there? Also it would be cool to see history on earth crolated with history down in slugtairra, also how the hell has slugtairra not been found, like we have the tech. Also the only confirmed age we get is Eli, and you can infer that Jung Ji is about 30-37 since he was a teen when he became the dark slinger, and was the dark slinger for 20 years. You can infer that Eli lives in the states, and they say the shane have been protecting the caverns for generations, so how long have they lived in the states for. Searched up where eli's last name comes from an the internet said its Irish, so idk anymore. There were so many missed opurtuines and plotholes that I been ranting for a while, sorry about the rant, just aynoyed.
OK, if I was given the job to do it! First off get rid of the whole surface versus the underground thing barely functions with the plots there's only really one episode that really details with it and it's boring otherwise ignore that feature. Second really focus on establishing if the slugs are supposed to be the core function and being a slug Slinger is supposed to be really cool how do I make that feel cool follow the rules and make it where people can feel like that they're playing the game so to speak or being able to play that role. IE make them more like the wisps from Sonic. And finally fleshing out the villain a bit more clearly the best villains are the dark reflections of the hero and also put in some peppering in some minor villains if we're going for the full series route but if we're going for like a story arc structure I would say only once in a while have like a minor villain to break up the monotony or set up a minor villain to be for later series when we eventually get rid of the correlating modern villain or have it where there's the rival that becomes the ally you know the usual stuff.
The slug fu shared sight is more like ash greninja they are fully connected in both mind and body not just through spirit and thought but they are so connected they are almost the same person and that why they are able to do they’re just syncing to the point there is near no difference like ash and greninja which makes that feel like a rip off of what they did here

Having an evil, super intelligent, pseudo-fashist slug as one of the major villains was honestly a transcendent idea and I would absolutely keep it. I think it'd be obvious to connect him with the casual slug slave trade (and make that an actual storyline), or maybe make him Black's Pericles

They would need to trim some things here and there, set a stable number of episodes per season, plan a consistent release schedule, and update the animation. The potential is all there, it just needs to be used properly.

I think I probably doing more with Kord's and Pronto's races for an arc or two rather than the occasional appearance of one or two characters could have given them more to play with than just kicking bad guys down holes and maybe expand on what "Slug Fu" actually means than just waving your hands before shooting the slug, especially as Kord's people tend to be the tech wizards while Pronto's seem like the natural subterranean inhabitants, rather than just focusing on human conflicts with the forces of "ghoul".
I'm so glad that someone else feels the same way about Junjie's character. Like the whole Eastern Caverns felt like a bad stereotype to me and just made me disappointed since I thought it would be this really cool breath of fresh air for the setting designs in SlugTerra.

I would reboot it Winx Club style: each season would have to unlock a new method of slug bonding to utilize more powers alongside the more corruptive abusive methods of "ghouling". Tad could move into the more anti-hero lane, never ghouling Piper, but ghouling his other slugs. Bring Blakk back as an anti-villain with Eli's dad and him having an uneasy alliance
I have thought for a long time about how I'd rewrite Slugterra. It's an amazing setting with weak writing and I really want to adapt its ideas into something that I like more. Unsure of what medium though.

I’ll keep the characters the same but add more depth. Like each character will have a mini arc.
Expanded the world building where every so often we go to a new cavern where they have different type of people, fighting styles, government, and even how they treat their slugs.
Have villains on different scales. Some are pure evil, others have justifiable reasons, and others are actually in the right.
And have it where each plot points you hinted at in a last season. The next season you’ll follow that up as soon as possible. Like that all be the number one goal of the writer.
And that’s really it. Sorry if it’s to long or not in depth. I haven’t seen this show in years and forgot about it until I saw your videos.
It's a real shame it ruined itself. Seen it happen before. It's interesting how some stories have to be planned out to work, and others can evolve as they go on, this one they did the latter but the kind of story it is the former would work better.
I honestly would just bring the show to this era of animation, since the show was good it it's just a product of the times, if it was done today, I'm cautiously confident that they could make it better
What's weird about slug fu is that it's really useless if you think about it burpy can already change direction like episode 1 eli shots a slug for the first time and again fight the electric guy, doc did it fighting the ghoul, sometimes stop like with the siren or am I wrong kord made a machine to redirect slug and doesn't have to be any special slug after on so am I meeting something
I never got to watch an entire series of Slugterra because random episodes would just be put on back to back on the network, so these deep dives are letting me see it all come together. It would've been neat if Eli's father just tagged along, telling his son to continue being a leader and he'd work on making up for being absent for so long by supporting him any way he could. I mean if he never did anything in the story anyway then he might as well have been a background character, at least his story would've been resolved. He was corrupted prior to being healed by Doc so maybe he decides to stay out of the spotlight as he doesn't want to taint his original image as a hero or cause any more trouble for those who had problems with him.
I love doing 'what ifs' for poorly written franchises that I like but I feel I'd need to watch everything before I could really start. XD
Honestly I've never seen anyone dislike Junjie this much. I was in the OG fandom when he was introduced in 2014 and everyone LOVED him. He literally was fan favorite. I will say if you don't like Junjie you're not gonna like the eastern caverns arc as it's literally only about him. Also it is pronounced Jun-Jay because I think that's how it's said in Mandarin. It means handsome hero.
And while the name for the slug fu sounds honestly a little... racist, not gonna lie, I do think that it was an idea that they never used for one of Nerd Crop's other shows (the company that originally made slugterra) that got canceled on Cartoon Network called Storm Hawks although it involved crystals not slugs so they threw it in with this show
Also one more thing to add maybe to shed some light but I think the reason why they reused so many of the same models in the Eastern Caverns is because of budget problems I can't remember the exact reason but I know they did spend a lot of money on making the technicians hideout and the Pyritor monster. Which sucks I would have loved to have seen a different culture in the Eastern Cavens and different slugs even but that didn't happen
Also also maybe this might just be my experience personally I don't think the show went into decline after the eastern caverns but more after into the shadows. You can see in into the shadows they had a bigger budget because the animation was more vibrate and they had new assets or whatever. But when it came out people were sooooo pissed that they created a son for Dr. Blakk and so mad they got rid of Junjie that a lot of them left. And they made Tad do the same thing as Twist, who was also a fan favorite, that a lot of people kinda dipped. And slugterra wasn't making a lot of money with toys. It wasn't like the big bad boys of the time like mlp.
Oh also forgot that that a huge portion of the fandom was in Mexico too. They were the bulk of the show's fandom and kept it running for so long.

I don't get what was the point of the Eastern Caverns. Slugterra had already the 99 caverns and the number of them that were fleshed out in any real capacity was in the single digits. The show had built up a pretty sizeable cast of recurring characters (King of Sling, Mr Saturday, Locke and Lode, etc) only to throw them all away in favor of completely new characters that no one cared about. I'm not saying Mr Saturday was particularly fleshed out, but he had enough going for him that he was worth keeping around (or at least better than what they did with Eastern Caverns)
Into the Shadows feels like they saw how badly Eastern Caverns performed and decided to go back to what they know, and while the return of several minor characters was neat, the main plot was even worse than Eastern Caverns. Honestly they should've gone all in with returning to earlier seasons. Have Blakk and the Dark Bane return and make the main plot be about saving Eli's dad. At least it would be an actual conclusion to the story
Since the company who own Slugterra wants to sell toys, I would make the story a "sports anime." The story would center around team work and befriending the slugs. Haikyuu was solely based on professional volleyball only, so I don't think they even need a dark underground tournament like in "sk8 infinity" to make it interesting. They would then be able to add filler whenever they need to, and if the characters are likable enough, people wouldn't mind.
Scrap seasons 4-6 for starters. 2) Eastern Caverns being separate and not having contact with the other 99 Caverns was always an actual retcon; thanks to an episode from the first 3 seasons having a throwaway line about how parts to their mechs are imported from the Eastern Caverns. A literal, "Everything comes from China" type "joke". But non the less, the 4 season now has it that the Eastern Caverns are not part of the actual 99, but apparently have been closed off for centuries if not longer? No!
Back when this show was good and on Disney XD, there was a lot of talk about Eli needing to keep the surface a secret and vice versa. Sure would have been fun to have them explore the idea that there might be other ways to get back up to the surface. Season 6 had almost a good idea with Blak's son being from the surface too, and I was really expecting a, "Blak is your uncle, Eli!" moment.
Or instead of, what I always assumed was Eli's parents being divorced and his mom possibly may or may not have known about SlugTerra , have it reveal that his mom is from SlugTerra, and that his parents' relationship wasn't necessarily bad, but complicated.
Also, if they wanted to rip off anything in Avatar, it should have been the Drill episode. Imagine an hour and a half special where he has to stop the conspiracy theorist guy from drilling upward.
Lastly, the elemental thing and the whole spirituality with the slugs. The show literally had cowboys and indians with the whole Shadow Clan being so obviously Native American coded. They should have done more with that. It's right there.

Pretty much lol. When Eli and Max defeated their established antagonists. The writers were just throwing ideas at a wall and hoped something would stick. And unfortunately it didn’t.
I think i would have not brought back doctor black instead hint at the dark bane god. after the 3rd season i would have kept the introduction of jun jie but I would make it that he had one of his elis dads slugs. They would then explore how jun jie even got to the central caverns in the first place. they would find the portal and travel to the eastern caverns where it turns out his dad was there and helped form a resistance but dissappeared soon after and the first half would be confronting his mistakes as the dark slinger and the terror he caused. the 2nd half would be him regaining the trust of the eastern caverns and taking down the emperor and learning there are 3 more caverns and that the emperor was a pawn of the dark bane god and the dark bane god has 2 more pawns. the northern tundra caverns, the tropical southern caverns and the ancient caverns.
The tundra caverns would have a new slinger named vlad with and ice infernus flames so cold they freeze instead of burn and he is trying to free his caverns from the cruel control of the Tepesh clan who rule with an iron fist with their leader Vlad who uses a vampiris slug that drains slug energy but the tepesh clan is forcing them to do it and are being abused. it would be revealed that vlad was trained by elis dad and gave him the knowledge to build blasters and fight against the clan. you learn after the dark healer disappeared he ended up in this cavern you learn he was an abused slug and he took the chance to become the dark slug but after seeing the vampire slugs he teams up with jun gie to rescue them. He slowly warms up to the real jun jie and then eventually gets purified back into a good slug deciding he doesnt want to be an evil slug and the whole season is about his healing from abuse. They would learn that to defeat the dark bane god they need 5 special slugs each with the infernus title.
The Tropical Caverns would be short in which they need they discover that there is nobody living in this cavern and that all the residents were lost a long time ago it looks like a ruined civilization and they discover a great war happened between 2 factions which wiped out both sides but the good side hid the Aqua infernus and its a race to get it before the dark bane hunter and they discover that elis dad has the final infernus the ancient infernus
The ancient cavern which would be the final chapter the dark bane god breaks out and they have to stop him

I was a big fan of the early seasons. never really watched the later stuff, mostly because I didn't know there was newer stuff, and my attention was moving towards youtube rather than tv. but seeing how the later seasons went, it does not surprise me that these cute lil slugs got the axe. when you go for all these gimmicks, don't flesh them out, don't go all the way, don't make it interesting, and then also don't have a good antagonist? well, that's just not a recipe for success

the best part about Slugterra is the worldbuilding. I like the way nature relies on the slugs, and it isn't like they're mini-gods or deities, instead there are actual repercussions of abusing them/ghouling then. However, the storytelling needs work. First of all, all the main characters are just invulnerable, like they get punched into walls and can still fight. the only weakness is probably Junjie's guilt, and even in that there isn't a lot of storytelling. like, where are the character arcs?

Honestly if I was to reboot the show, I would go back to using Goon Doc as the main villain, never bring up the eastern caverns, and backtrack to using advanced tech to replicate techniques (the fusion blaster), since I feel the sci-fi aspect was more beloved than some mystic stuff.
Oh and as a whole the show would be slightly darker, because the main audience is now preteens and teenagers, not kids. It’s a pipe dream after all. Death can happen, and should happen. Eli’s dad is definitely given the “mind controlled but then to save my son I kill myself before I kill him” treatment. Let the show talk about heavier topics, make ghouling slugs overtly more like pollution. So many options.

If I could reboot Slugterra, I would get rid of Pronto entirely sorry I just couldn't stand his character what so ever he was so focused on himself and getting glory, and being a mole... yeah he's a bit of a gold digger so Pronto is gone but I'm keeping the other characters.
Plot, is something I would gladly try to fix, maybe start with Eli's early life on the surface, how his dad taught him about Slugterra and the slugs there and have his wife, we'll call her Jane ultimately being so against her son going there even at 15 years old to the point where Eli's uncle, I'm assuming his mom's brother is of course on Will's side here and fully supports Eli going there and soon after hearing this she leaves Eli with his uncle and then, Eli meets Burpy and gets the blaster from his dad and he goes down to Slugterra and meets, Kord and Trixi two people who's parents were also part of the Shane Gang. Of course there will be small hints of romance between characters, mostly because I ship Trixi and Eli since they met, ignore that if you wish. Now then there will be 2 to maybe 4 episodes to flush out each cavern and of course the gang will gain a new member in the form of Twist who they will eventually meet at the half way point of the first season. Villains, they will of course be the Dark Bane, Dr. Black, his son, the Shadow Clan (Will become Allies), and the big bad will be Goon Doc

It's just Trixie and Eli bumbling around doing absolutely nothing, looking for some slug and Locke and Load are there for some reason? And then Dr. Blakk shows up? And it's supposed to be a twist but it's not because they show his silhouette and his silhouette is so recognizable there is zero question as to who he is? Also the new slug is dumb? And also also, they changed Eli's voice actor and he sounds like a Chad. It's bad.

And just based off of what I can remember, I think Storm Hawks is better, but I can see some similarities between them. I would also like to add Will Shane being the reason why Dana's dad not being alive (explicitly), a little gray zone for morality. Not everything heroes do is always morally correct. This would make Eli to have an interesting development as a character when finds out the truth about Dana's father death, and that also would explain clearly Dana's bitterness towards Will Shane and his legacy.
I think that other interesting concept that was never explored was Quentin's roboslugs. If he made an AI algorithm for his roboslugs that makes itself better after each battle, he could beat every slug and almost any slugslinger.
Basically he could create a super artificial intelligence that can excel it's own algorithm after any duel, a supercomputer whose only purpose is to wipe slugs and slugslingers from existence, putting slugterra under a great danger.
This series is basically one kid’s long explanation for why his dad never came back with the milk.

I remember in the last video you said this was like pokimone. And i was reminded of a Netflix anime i just finished watch called 'My Damon' hope i spelt that right. Also about a boy who had a great affinity with the Damon creatures, though he was able to go on his quest because his mum was killed. And he had no dad around. Lots of blood too , so i suppose a more grown up pokimone. I really liked it, but i just sat there every episode like wow thats just like pokimone. Oh look thats like pokimone. So ya completely a super pokimone inspired show, but it was a good one. Well at lest i think so. Not saying everyone will.

Now that I think about it Slugterra has a huge potential as a video game in my opinion. Like, I don't care about the plot here, but if you adapt the setting and the lore correctly you could have Counter Strike mixed with Pokemon with a sprinkle of Red Dead Redemption on the top. Ironically, the biggest problem with turning this TV show into a video game is the fact that it's a TV show and they don't really tend to be adapted into huge, triple A games

I seen the first season and got board. It reminds me too much of a number of mid-'00s action cartoons, but this suffers from being TOO bland and generic for its own era and genre. I have seen good action shows from that time, and the bar for what is good is fairly high. While that character designs are solid, character personalities and story wise, it just feels low-effort.
How I would have done better? Well, firstly, make the characters compelling and developing. Like with the girls on W.I.T.C.H. and Ahsoka Tano, I'll have them fail repeatedly until they get less reckless and think things through. I'll have Switch start off with the team and make him really likeable so his betrayal hits even harder. Like with Fast & Furious and Star Wars Rebels, the goal of the team is to become a found-family. Setting wise... While I get the "slug = bullet" theme, I would have it so that the slug are used as batteries able to produce an exotic energy source as opposed to JUST being projectiles, as the theme is just #%&@ing stupid! I would have made the cultures of Slugterra interesting, with customs fairly alien from what we are used to, but pulls you in.

I remember watching both seasons 5 and 6 through clips on UA-cam a few years back, I remember rewatching Slugarria during covd, I just rewatched 1-4 so many times. What I thought for Tad for the longest time was that it was probably the mom's side from the surface. Rewrite Jung Ji, like the eastern caverns are under China, but there is so much that doesn't make sense. They never decided on Eli's enictcty, the multiple places the portal can go to( four places),. The portal itself was too simple, like do the thing where it has a few rings and a certain combination for certain places. Also if the people from the eastern caverns are from China, where the hell is the language barrier? Like, how do they all know the same language, and how do the humans down there survive without severe viatim defiaceis. Also how do they have a day night cycle? How do all the cycles that keep earth alive even work down there? Also it would be cool to see history on earth crolated with history down in slugtairra, also how the hell has slugtairra not been found, like we have the tech. OK, if I was given the job to do it! First off get rid of the whole surface versus the underground thing barely functions with the plots there's only really one episode that really details with it and it's boring otherwise ignore that feature. Second really focus on establishing if the slugs are supposed to be the core function and being a slug Slinger is supposed to be really cool how do I make that feel cool follow the rules and make it where people can feel like that they're playing the game so to speak or being able to play that role. IE make them more like the wisps from Sonic. And finally fleshing out the villain a bit more clearly the best villains are the dark reflections of the hero and also put in some peppering in some minor villains if we're going for the full series route but if we're going for like a story arc structure I would say only once in a while have like a minor villain to break up the monotony or set up a minor villain to be for later series when we eventually get rid of the correlating modern villain or have it where there's the rival that becomes the ally you know the usual stuff.
The slug fu shared sight is more like ash greninja they are fully connected in both mind and body not just through spirit and thought but they are so connected they are almost the same person and that why they are able to do they’re just syncing to the point there is near no difference like ash and greninja which makes that feel like a rip off of what they did here
