The set of shows on this channel were responsible for me even picking up music, specifically drums, as a hobby. I’m so grateful to TFOT and you for uploading all those years ago. I come back often for another listen. Cheers :)
Thomas is one of those people who are in a bunch of different bands with a few loyal fans and that's the way he's gonna keep it. i love just about every song he plays
The Ghost Ship singles were some the most well made songs i think ive ever listened to. Great harmonies and so different from what was around during that time.
Do you hear? Do you hear what is being played by these guys? Sheer genius. No one can touch Thomas Erak, not with a 100 foot pole. This dude is a sheer genius.
thekazuya005 Amen. I'm sure it takes a pretty good mind to come up with matching drums to these zany riffs. Got better at drums completely once I could play the majority of Doppelganger.
When I figured how to play fcpremix on drums, i figured all other songs, now i can play most of them too, but still Ghostship part IV is some really hard thing
He was only like 19 or so when he did this, too. I don't know if he "invented" it but I will put it this way I think Thomas figured out an entirely new way of playing guitar. It goes beyond just good prog sensibilities with it too. He legit does some things with the guitar as a player myself that I haven't seen other players do. And considering how young he was when he really first took off with it, I think it's even more remarkable for that. Guess if you throw your high school education away you better have something to show for it, I guess, right?
I've met Thomas soooooo many times over the last 2 decades. You're not lying. I h8 to sound like such a fan boy but I've never met a cooler person in life. He's a nice guy and all but fuck me, this guy's a goddamn Rockstar. I used to play bass in a band and he single handedly inspired me to be front man of my band.
With TFOT's music you have to listen to the album a while to get used to it. It took me like a week to go from Doppleganger to Manipulator. But now I love both of them.
the problem is a lot of the screaming that sounds shitty in the video prolly was good live( iv never seen fot but cedric from TMV is an awesome singer and sometimes sounds bad in vids when i know theres no way its bad live)
this has gotta be the greatest live video of the fall of troy ever! i mean the video and sound are amazing. and the performance is spiffy as! especially the ending =) x
i thought manipulator was a masterpiece. much more varied and perfect amount of guitar acrobatics. they are all amazing in my opinion. cant wait for the new one
@Snowblind333 its not that they want to hear the old songs its that they like the style of the old music more. its what drew everyone toward them in the first place so to make such a change in their style was a pretty big mistake
@Snowblind333 because your in a band for you and your bandmates... you want to share your music and be in control of it at the same time. And their new album couldnt have moved farther forward... just because it doesnt sound the same as the previous four albums doesnt mean it doesnt come from the heart. people grow up. they move on with their lives. they get tired of playing the same goddamn songs every goddamn night. so no... i do not think that is why they are breaking up.
@FluffyMuffina Nah it definitely got worse. His best screaming was definitely on the Self-Titled, and his worst screaming was definitely on In the Unlikely Event. He tried to improve his clean vocals during that time in between and his screaming ability took a hit as he was less willing to go all out so as to not risk fucking up his singing.
dude i fucking love this song! at first when my friend introduced this song, i couldn't help but laugh at the way he screamed the song, but now that i've listened to it a few times, it's a pretty badass song
@nlo13 fyi, he doesnt scream that often at all. most of the screaming you hear in the old stuff is their bassist, tim. old bassist i should say. but you probably knew that, just pointing it out.,
I don't see why everyone is hating on Manipulator, they're an EXPERIMENTAL band so of course their music is gonna be experimental. I'm guessing Claudio Sanchez was a huge influence on his music in Manipulator. Thom is pure talent. No matter what he does.
Nice how they throw in some Ghostship V in the finale! The only letdowns here are Thom fucking around for ages at the start, and that both Thom and Tim's screams are a bit weak at times. And it's easily one of their screamiest songs! But otherwise it's the same amazing song I know from the album. And I'm too harsh a critic anyway =D
i think this song is the one they usually close with so i imagine hes pretty tired at the end so i excuse the vocals for this vid. There friggen awesome live tho!!
@KAVEH08 Dude, Thomas has always been the one who pretty much controls everything in TFOT. Thanks to Frank we had POTH and ITUE since he filled in for Tim. Are you honestly saying he broke them up or are you just kidding?
Omar's guitar style is very much derived from Robert Fripp's from King Crimson. This guy sounds more like Omar's style though, you're right. My only problem with the band is that sometimes his screaming is hilarious. Otherwise everything is awesome.
Such a shame as everyone says. I don't think I've found a band quite like them since. Thomas Erak said when they played up at London about rock and roll and he was right, rock and roll is about doing what hasn't been done before in my eyes. Heck, it's what music's about. And yes, they brought down the fucking house.
well... i think the only reason they used FCP for GH3 was because it was the only song people who dont really appreciate TFOT music style like... everytime someone listens to FCP they say "this is good! can i hear the rest?" after they hear the rest they hate it... they dont want to stick with the same sound. they will do whatever they want. personally i love it. but that is just me :P
dissapointing how they got away from THIS.... i think that their music, although has gone up in technique, has gone down in quality and Tom's ego has skyrocketed but you can't really say they're not good, their song is on GH3.... but its a song from Doppleganger, not Manipulator. O well, hopefully they come back to The Fall of Troy that I fell in love with at first
@Snowblind333 tthey splitted up because andrew was getting sucked by the band, the drungs and the alcohol if not maybe now he would be on a hospital dying and personaly i like ALL their music
okay yeah, but how do you expect them to go anywhere and progress in their career if they dont get new fans. It was their decision to go on guitar hero 3 . . .and obviously they decided for the right reasons because now there getting more fans. but i agree with part of what your saying. i hate it when people call themselves fans of a band when they only know one song. . . but i think their older stuff is so kick ass. there is more to them than just FCPREMIX their fucking talented as shit.
@FOnewmike I'm sorry, but that's bullshit man. Just because I love Led Zeppelin, does that mean I have to love Robert Plant's solo "career", or Jimmy Page's attempts since. I love the Ghostship tracks, Doppelganger, Manipulator and most tracks on Unlikely Event, but I by no means fail to realize that some songs lack that ballsy proggy touch that attracted me in the first place. And Just Like Vinyl is a step in the same direction as Unlikely Event, towards generality.
The set of shows on this channel were responsible for me even picking up music, specifically drums, as a hobby. I’m so grateful to TFOT and you for uploading all those years ago. I come back often for another listen. Cheers :)
Been watching this vid for 12 years, goddamn.
9 years here, brings me back good memories every time I come back here
Thomas is one of those people who are in a bunch of different bands with a few loyal fans and that's the way he's gonna keep it. i love just about every song he plays
He was playing the ending to A Man A Plan A Canal Panama like 2 years before Manipulator even came out haha.
Epic shit, I come back to see this video every once in a while.
Ayyy that's why I'm here right now haha.
hahah I love how he just walks away when the second guy gets up there
these guy's are on par with dillinger escape plan and messuggah. just incredible compositions. mathmatically brillance, quantum physics even.
Watching in 2020 while quarantined because Coronavirus!!!!
my favorite part is 0:00 - 8:49
same TFOT forever!
The Ghost Ship singles were some the most well made songs i think ive ever listened to. Great harmonies and so different from what was around during that time.
Bob Mitch this is from their self titled tho I agree with you
they play so tightly together every time! this band is just mind blowing
Do you hear? Do you hear what is being played by these guys? Sheer genius. No one can touch Thomas Erak, not with a 100 foot pole. This dude is a sheer genius.
Andrew Forsman is even more admirable he plays some really hard shit here.
thekazuya005 Amen.

I must've watched this video 20 times, and I only discovered FoT december last year XD I LOVE THEM WITH MY WHOLE HEART
4:52 is my favourite sound in all music
those harmonics tho
BEST live performance of this song EVER
Dude the breakdown at the end=A man a plan a canal panama. Pretty rad.
the problem is a lot of the screaming that sounds shitty in the video prolly was good live( iv never seen fot but cedric from TMV is an awesome singer and sometimes sounds bad in vids when i know theres no way its bad live)
The song is just epic. Perfect way to end an album.
his screams sound pretty awesome when he's not falsettoing (just made that word up)
unlikely event is awesome in its own way. great album
this has gotta be the greatest live video of the fall of troy ever!
i mean the video and sound are amazing.
and the performance is spiffy as!
especially the ending =)
x
i thought manipulator was a masterpiece. much more varied and perfect amount of guitar acrobatics. they are all amazing in my opinion. cant wait for the new one
one of their best songs, hands down
The good old times of TFOT
This band is a very good band! They play riffs that you never able to play!
I never noticed the only clean vocals in this song are when Thom briefly sings "I know those hands put me to bed."
that thing hes playing in the beginning is cool..hmm I think jon theodore would be a nice asset to this band
Quite possibly one of the best videos on youtube.
Thanks so much for putting these up.
loving the high pitched screaming, or singing?
kinda hard to tell what he's doing, but thats what makes the song so awesome.
tfot forever.
heh thats so awesome when the lights come on for the first time and andrew is going crazy on the drums
They better close the shows on this last tour with this fucking song... RIP TFOT
@Snowblind333 its not that they want to hear the old songs its that they like the style of the old music more. its what drew everyone toward them in the first place so to make such a change in their style was a pretty big mistake

always amazing. pure talent.
@nflores20
the first one was 'a man. a plan. a canal. panama' and the second one was from 'ghostship: part v'.
@FluffyMuffina
Nah it definitely got worse. His best screaming was definitely on the Self-Titled, and his worst screaming was definitely on In the Unlikely Event. He tried to improve his clean vocals during that time in between and his screaming ability took a hit as he was less willing to go all out so as to not risk fucking up his singing.
they're so amazing musically....and lyrically...and vocally. For fuck's sake is there any way in which this band was not awesome?
@gopherpoo its the line 6 fm4. they have a ton of stuff like that on there
woah, the breakdown at the end is from ghostship V /chapter 5 but ive also seen a video of part 4 with the same breakdown...
i saw them play this in manchester UK last sunday
absolutely immense
dude i fucking love this song! at first when my friend introduced this song, i couldn't help but laugh at the way he screamed the song, but now that i've listened to it a few times, it's a pretty badass song
@nlo13 I think his screams had more body as he got older, they seemed a bit thin on the self-titled, but not bad!
Love the song!
Especially this live version
My favorite song from them!!
It's sweet as hell live
@nlo13 fyi, he doesnt scream that often at all. most of the screaming you hear in the old stuff is their bassist, tim. old bassist i should say. but you probably knew that, just pointing it out.,
I don't see why everyone is hating on Manipulator, they're an EXPERIMENTAL band so of course their music is gonna be experimental. I'm guessing Claudio Sanchez was a huge influence on his music in Manipulator.
Thom is pure talent. No matter what he does.
i think the sledgehammer ending was a stroke of class =)
x
I wish they never broke up. The best math-core band ever.
good news
his vocals are better now. i saw them live and he was awesome.
thats a phat vid, fall of troy are tight live.
Nice how they throw in some Ghostship V in the finale! The only letdowns here are Thom fucking around for ages at the start, and that both Thom and Tim's screams are a bit weak at times. what the hell kind of effect is tom use in the beggining
its sick as hell
@macauleymcCulkin you're right, it is that song. my bad :)
@KAVEH08 Dude, Thomas has always been the one who pretty much controls everything in TFOT. Thanks to Frank we had POTH and ITUE since he filled in for Tim. Are you honestly saying he broke them up or are you just kidding?
@ascheier all of the "real screams" are tim. What thom does is mroe of a banshee shriek/
cool, the end of the vid is a part of A Man A plane A Canal, Panama
@l337man4 nope, i was mistaken. its a man a plan. i don't know about the ghostship part.
what do u mean the screaming makes it so much better!
Omar's guitar style is very much derived from Robert Fripp's from King Crimson. This guy sounds more like Omar's style though, you're right.
My only problem with the band is that sometimes his screaming is hilarious. Otherwise everything is awesome.
favorite song ever
these dudes are sick because of how original they are.
I think pretty much all of TFOT's stuff sounds amazing, even the new stuff. Just my opinion.
oops, i mean a man a plan at the end, not sledgehammer...my bad ^_^
x
its hilarious wen that guy jumps on stage and screams into the mike wit tom
dude, i wanna go to that show soo bad. i doubt i can tho
great video!
:) I want them to play Reassurance Rests in the Sea when I go! Or Ghostship part II but they never play those :(
I think so, late summer i think. I'm gonna see em when they come to sweden
yayy for atonal effects at the beginning!
gotchu beat!!! seein' them sept 18 at the church in philly!!
"hes not the best drummer, but he might be the fastest.anyways, they're all incredible."
wow you have a lot to learn.
I miss the underground D:
I also miss The Fall of Troy.
sooooooo fast and sooooo awesome
I can see your opinion and I respect it.....
I was mearly stating mine....not trying to start fights here
Such a shame as everyone says. I don't think I've found a band quite like them since. Thomas Erak said when they played up at London about rock and roll and he was right, rock and roll is about doing what hasn't been done before in my eyes. Heck, it's what music's about. And yes, they brought down the fucking house.
i totally preordered it today!
=P nicely put
Is he using a Maxon AD-999 Analog Delay Pedal at the end for the end of the Ghostship Part V breakdown?? If so I need it BAD!
Haha Thoms hair looks amazing in this :P
Just awsome!
I really like Thomas' hair like that :3
well... i think the only reason they used FCP for GH3 was because it was the only song people who dont really appreciate TFOT music style like...

after they hear the rest they hate it...
they dont want to stick with the same sound. they will do whatever they want. personally i love it. but that is just me :P
@mateothebest TRUE MUSIC LOVER!!! Thank you for pointing this out. Music is music!!!
@nflores20 thought so, then Ghosthip V, right?
dissapointing how they got away from THIS....
i think that their music, although has gone up in technique, has gone down in quality
and Tom's ego has skyrocketed
but you can't really say they're not good, their song is on GH3.... but its a song from Doppleganger, not Manipulator.
O well, hopefully they come back to The Fall of Troy that I fell in love with at first
Thanks much man
i know that breakdown from one of their songs but i cant think of which one..
love this song
my fav song
@MrFoxykitty
i think that's what he was trying to say.
i may be wrong though.
0:10 onwards = epic effects machine! xD
haha im stupid :3
@Snowblind333 tthey splitted up because andrew was getting sucked by the band, the drungs and the alcohol if not maybe now he would be on a hospital dying and personaly i like ALL their music

i like the guitar part in this. i never understood the lyrics.....untill i looked it up. quite disturbing.
