    Hi Chuck,
All great ideas. I especially liked the one for the two 17' whips used as a 20m dipole and the supports with the paracord. The small plastic pieces to make adjusting the tension a great solution. You and the family stay safe. 73 WJ3U

Yes, the Dipole topper for the push up mast makes the Dipole real easy and the thing I like is the MFJ Stainless steel whips at 10, 12 and 15 don't droop. Now that those bands are open, they work great. I have also used a 20m Ham Stick Dipole and the 10m Stainless on a 3d printed Dipole topper at 25 feet. The Ham Sticks at 20 are rigid because 1/2 the length is a molded, rigid piece and the whips are at the end. Great video. Thanks Chuck.

Great to see something different Chuck. That weird tri-band coil concoction is radical, i would never think something like that would work.👍

Hi Chuck. I just discovered your channel. I am enjoying your relaxed informal style. It’s just like hanging out in your back yard with you having a ham radio radio day with a few buddies :-)
Relevant material, and interesting. I have also experimented with twin ham sticks made into a dipole on a photography lighting tripod that goes up about 12’.
Anyhow, keep them coming. Great job!

Great ideas Chuck. Maybe try the Hustler VP-1 Tri-Band Resonator Adapter with Ham Sticks, use a 3/8 x 24 bolt and a coupler for the antennas. Use a mirror mount and a 3/8 x 24 bolt to attach it to the mirror mount. You now have a 3 band antenna with maybe a bit more band width, and less expensive.

I’ve had my Pyle tripod for 4 years now it’s great for the price. I also got over sized tent polls that would slide inside there so that I can get my total Heights up to about 30 feet, and then I just use guidelines to study. It takes no time to set up.

Aloha Chuck, I still have my MFJ dual hamstix for 10m that I use to mount on the railing of my condo in Waikiki and that was a lotta fun making contacts to NZ, Australia, Japan, and many other places in a horizontal set up like I saw some folks had set up in a RV park years ago. I love my G90 but I think I love the waterfall screen on your IC-705 better. I thought I heard a VK2 station from Australia in your video but was cut off. Still very impressive video.
    A big Mahalo to you!

Chuck appreciate you sharing this video and information. It’s very helpful and inspiring I am just re-entering being active on the after having 2 Strokes in 2021. I have been binge watching UA-cam videos the previous couple of weeks. Learning about the new things especially the affordable SDR G90, new to me F8 digital mode, the various Antennas & associated mounts. Hopefully we will have a QSO in the near future ?

Hi Chuck, thanks for the video. I all ready own a 17 foot telescopic antenna from mfj and was thinking about the same setup with a second one like you did. What kept me away was exactly that bending down problem. Recently a saw a picture in a printed mfj catalog with two of those telescopes on a 45° angled bracket. So it looks like a upright V. I think they call it "Big Ears" In this configuration it seems to be no having bending down problems. What do you think about this? Would be the V less effective compared to the straight out version? Thanks.

Kirk not sure. I have a v bracket, but it doesn't separate the shield from the center the way it is setup I will have to take a look at it and the big ears!

    Hi Chuck
When you use two hamstick as a dipole, do you use a tuner? k6NBC shows the use of two hamsticks as a dipole but he indicated it must be fed off center to match the antenna to the coax. Comments would be appreciated. Thank you ed K1EM

    • @KK6USYHamRadioAdventures

Hi Edward, I was using to hamsticks of the same band for just that band just like any dipole. Was he tuning to different bands as a multiband dipole?

You should change the Carrier Point to reflect the true location of the side band on the screen. You have the default setting where it shows the green line in the middle of the transmission, for LSB it should be to the right and for USB its to the left. Tuff to explain but icoms default setting puts the carrier point in the wrong spot for LSB and USB. Its in the settings menu. Hold EXPD/SET....Page 1of 4....3rd choice down...select "Carrier Point Abs. Freq" then exit.

Lol I'm new to Icoms, and just happy sometimes to be able to capture the screen on camera, but i will check out your suggestions! You know I think i actually noticed that while filming.

question: I have the dipole setup just like you do but can't seem to get them to tune very well. I was told that I needed to insulate the dual antenna bracket from the mounting pole because it is messing with the "ground" side of the whip by adding electrical length. I don't see this happening. You don't have yours insulated. Are you able to tune your dipole fairly easily?

    • @KK6USYHamRadioAdventures
      @KK6USYHamRadioAdventures  Рік тому

Hi James, Yes I was able to tune Mine. I tuned them separately to start with If I remember right. I also tried to get them about the same length, then put them together and tuned the each side the same amount. They need to be raised to check and they are not wide banned at all "hi-Q".
If you still can't get it drop me an email and we can try to find out what's going on , or I can do a video on just that part. That might be helpful to hams. and I didn't isolate the bracket. 73
