I freaking love Peabnut's Megaman. He plays so calculated. Often times just standing there do nothing and waiting for his opponent to roll or do something dumb. It's like a lvl 10 computer haha.
As a megaman main it makes me super happy to see how well Peab did. And I hope people realize how many hours it takes to master this character. I’ve mained him for 3 years now and still don’t know everything about the character.
I absolutely respect MegaMan Mains, for not being Sword Fighter main #7,812,052, and also giving us a different character to watch or fight against. also also for Peabnut in particular for playing super creatively (but that last one is definitely more of a personal thing.)
I love megaman, I think he's honestly slept on in the current meta, he is very hard to play but I think he has one of the highest ceilings in ultimate. Peabnut and Mpg being the two leading the megameta at the moment.
I agree, but honestly I'm not surprised characters with high skill ceilings are ALWAYS underrated and underutilized until very late in the meta. Not many people want to put in the work for results. Why else do we always see Aegis, Cloud, Lucina, Roy, Sonic, and Wolf players? Those characters are so easy to use and they're top tiers. Anyone with good fundamentals can pick them up for a week or two and start crashing locals. You can't do that with Mega Man, Marth, ZSS, and others of the like. To be fair, though, this shows just how skilled Peabnut is. He's sticking it out with one of the hardest characters in the game, and you can tell that's because he loves Mega Man and he doesn't give a crap about what the toxic viewers think.
@@Ser0z I can say the same for Marth. You only see combo guides, but no real general Marth guides. I've also seen Marth players get absolutely ridiculed in the comments whenever they try to say anything good or useful about Marth. You can't say anything good about that character, I guess, so I understand why the Marth mains are so silent about him. Ignaize beat Elegant and people still say that's not impressive because "Luigi loses to Marth"... like, you telling me you can pick up Marth and automatically beat one of the best players in the world? Please.
As a megamain who uses rush for combos and traps/setups i thought i was creative. Then i discovered this dude and my brain exploded with not only his play style but the ways he uses rush to secure his kills and setups. Jesus christ i need more practice lmao
Mega Man is one character I’ve always been intrigued by, but I don’t have the tenacity to force feed the wonkiness of his jab/forward tilt/nair to my simple lizard brain.
Simple, jump after jab. If you're at a distance, it allows you to control space while allowing you to move away from danger. If they're close you get a short combo that grants breathing room. Takes a bit getting used to but it's well worth the effort
@@callumbreton8930- I sorta picked up that that’s how most Mega Man mains do it, but it’s such an awkward input series for me. It’s more my laziness than anything else.
Playing random doubles or random characters helps A LOT. Learns the basics really well. Spacing. Dodges. Rolls. Grabs. Fall speeds. Short hops. Recovery. And depending on A way less than B.
Lmao look at Jake rolling his eyes and loosing his shit like he suffered some bullshit while he shamelessly mains Steve. Yeah man how does it feel now?!
I love megaman, honestly if put in the right hands I genuinely think he’s the best character in the game! His recovery is top tier, he has a few landing options, he can space you with his projectiles plus his close range attacks kill fairly early like his uptilt. He’s a very underrated character IMO
Just to clear up a few pieces of incorrect info. On a flat surface, Snake crouch always goes under pellets, regardless of timing. Megaman dair is only safe with a specific timing setup from full hop fast fall, such that you land on the same frame that dair comes out. Outside of that spacing the move is very unsafe on shield, increasing substantially in unsafeness the higher up megaman is when he fires. Additonally, because dair is a projectile it can be clanked and a move only has to deal 4% to clank dair. That coupled with being tied with snake fair for slowest aerial in the game means you can typically just anti air it on reaction with most characters. Full hop diagonal downforward metal blade > uptilt is a frame perfect character specific combo in ultimate, compared to smash 4 where it was true on the whole cast, thats why hes not going for uptilt as the follow up. In ult, its more reliable to dsmash in that situation instead.
16:02 Can anyone tell me what Peabnut did there to b reverse the character in order to get back on stage with a bair? I cannot tell which move he uses there and it also looks like a moves startup get's cancelled by the bair, so maybe neutral b? But I do not see the blade come out either.
Nevermind I figured it out now after watching it back frame by frame. Mega man can wall jump and it just so happens that his wall jump is very low and can be acted out of super fast. No b reversing is happening here. This is almost more impressive than what I originally thought had happened tbh. Just the fact he could make use of Megamans wall jump as a mix up from ledge in that situation is insane.
Although I've seen like 10 comments mentioning that, so it might actually increase the amount of comments, thus improving the chances in the algorithm. Not if he keeps it that way for too long, though.
Yall dont know this character. The underrepresentation kills him. No one making tier lists knows all the jank megaman can pull out bc no one plays him. So many mixups, so many kill options, so much random bs you just won't expect. Almost all of his MUs are about even bc he can roll in advantage state but can also get rolled in disadvantage. At worst he's mid high tier at best low top tier.
Mega Man is so underrated, Capcom has been sleeping on him for nearly 35 years.
I think capcom was the ONLY thing that wasntt sleeping on megaman
Yup I love MegaMan he gets a lot of merch but nothing much else other than the re-releases.
