Another excellent video Steve much appreciated by the Snooker community.
Once a great coach is always a great coach.
Rays of hope from coach!!!
Thank YOU Steve once again for the valuable variety of shots. It's going to help many players add ammo to their armoury. Keep up the great effort! Cheers from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Learned so much again
Amazing..as always!
Thank you Steve!
Brilliant video Steve. Always going to the depths of explaining each lesson. As always, ❤️ from India!
Brilliant advice! Steve - you should rename the title of this video to “Snooker + Geometry + Physics coaching” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Perfect score in all 3 areas!!
Would love to see more of these - great vid!
dream coach
Very interesting on the plant being 'heavier' - really hadn't considered that - something to play about with next time :)
Tip no 2 and no 4 is very helpfull .. Thanks barton snooker ❤️❤️
Great video and very helpful, thanks!!
Yet again, another fabulous video Steve! 😃
Great video as usual. Thanks Steve. 👍
Brilliant tips once again , thank you
Very interesting as always Steve👍
Really useful, many thanks
You make the best tutorials, well done!
Will help me no end. Thank you for your tips.
Great tips. Thanks a lot. Please continue with these kind of videos, how to play certain shots.
Quite useful, thanks you!
Over 10 years of experience - still learned some stuff. Good job man!
Thanks a lot for watching and commenting. Great to help 👍🙂
Excellent as usual, Steve. Keep it up!
As good as always, especially shots no. 2 and 4
Great tips and very helpful indee, thanks Steve
Thanks for this video. I was realizing during the 2nd tip that that’s also what happens if you put unintentional side on a shot. So important to be able to hit the center of the cueball…..
You're exactly right! 😃
I really like the fifth one as well as first hitting the cushion to pot the risky ball.
Many thanks
You got me with the intro Steve, had a good laugh 😂 great video! Very interesting tips.
Please do more of these!
I really enjoy your videos here from the USA……just wish snooker was as popular here as it is across the globe…..
More new Information, cheers Steve.
Great tips
Great video!
Thanks, that kick safety is something I should use more.
Excellent Great video
Great video Steve, thank you. I am learning a lot.......Sal : )
Nice video mate. Just to at you now I did my first colours clearance today. It wasn't entirely conventional, but I will work on that as I am going along. I can't stress more how much your personal coaching had made a difference to my game.
Awesome. Well done Dermot 👍👍
It's a great achievement clearing the colours. Not easy to do at all. Many more to come 😃
Well if I learn to do that then I can learn the rest too. And many more practice sessions and hard work yet to come. And loads more failed attempts too 😂. Thanks again 👌
As always sir ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Steve . I am your fan from pakistan. Wana thank you for such detail explanation . Allah bless you . You are the best . Stay safe
Hi Steve, you have answered a question many have been arguing about in my neck of the woods. Does side spin on the white transfer to the object ball. The shot where you can't pot the red is a great example of that.
Very helpful #like it
My local pool hall just re-opened. Now's the time to start practicing again!

Great video steve. Appreciate that like always.
Please make a video on break building near black. the spins, screws and follows to place the white in that area. Please it is very common in the game and important as well
👍 Merci pour la vidéo 😉
Very good tips ,,shooter
I had heard commentators saying about altering the angle with screw, but had assumed that, like from an object ball, it would throw wider. Quite surprised to see it throw shallow. And you could clearly see the cueball curve away to achieve that on your shot. Another revelation! Cheers SB.
Excellent info Steve. Any more 'good shots to know' for next time?
Great fun
Make a video on Ronnie's cue action
Great tips there Steve....we are still in lockdown here in New Zealand.
Cheers Tony. The lockdowns feel like forever when you're in them. Hopefully not long now.
Tony Marshall lockdown is not about a deadly virus as covid19 had been planned many years ago.Its not about controlling a virus it's about controlling people and object of lockdowns is to destroy small and medium businesses. I expect by now huge numbers have woken up to the fact they've been hoodwinked.
The angle distortion with screw is nicely visible at 6:15
Another great video Steve
The physics of the game is just fascinating and when you know them it certainly helps .
Cheers Andy. Hope you're good mate 👍
@@BartonSnooker yeah good here league starting up again so excited to get back competing.
No handicaps so I can play much more freely.
How’s you ?
@@TheSnookerShed great thanks 😃. Yeah, no handicaps is always good. Like you say, just allows you to play your game.
Our league has started up again now, although I haven't played yet as we had a bye the first week.
@@BartonSnooker you must be up there with the best of the league.
There is 5 lads who are very good above me I’m gunning for the the first one just need to up the amount of 30 plus breaks I can get in a frame
Hey bro...Ure doing a great job ..keep it up..I need to know assume if player A is on 53 points and player B on 50 points and player A makes a foul of in off on the last black ball fight...pls tell me what happens...thanks a lot
Hi Mate ,once again Thank you.
Regarding the Effect of the angle off the cushion to straighten the angle of the White coming off the cushion,,Amazing how many players use the same type of shot to straighten up a Double across the table. I sometimes use it,,But,, if hit too hard it will straitened the Object ball to Keep bouncing back forever in a straight line,Due to the effect of the Object Ball Digging into the Cush..Same principal I think.
With shot 4, draw tightens the angle of the cushion. I assume follow will open the angle?
Sir. . Can u tell me which video sir is tech cue ball putting red ball to picked. Last or centre pocket. Tq sir
@bartonsnooker hey steve, just a question regarding using side to curve the objectball in. are you still allowing for the deflection due to the use of side? also does the speed of the shot impact how spin is put on the object ball. lastly, do you use this regularly to pot thinner cuts?
great information-whic i lived closer
❤
Awesome video, Steve! However, I thought you would show us how to leave the white behind the black, while the red goes to the other side of the table - regarding shot #5. I'm still happy with this video though, awesome little tricks that can be a game changer :) Cheers!
Hi Martin,
It's not actually possible to get the white behind the black on that shot.
It's a good thing you point out though, as it's a mistake a lot of players make. Thinking too much about the white, and not the object ball. You MUST get the object ball safe FIRST, and then get a good cue ball as well if you can. In this example, you couldn't possibly leave the red safe and get the white anywhere near the black 👍
The screw into the cushion there, is that happening because the backspin counts as a bit of sidespin on the angle it leaves the cusion? As if the ball it pushing itself ever so slightly in that direction off of the cushion picking up speed and losing angle. If so, I reckon using frontspin is going to make it leave the cushion extra wide and lose some speed? I don't even play snooker lol but the physics of it all still intrigues me :p
Interesting how snooker players don't know these shots, but coming from the pool world, MOST players know these shots and their varients.
This is why I love watching both pool and snooker! You learn so much more with both games.
Hi Nate,
Yeah I think it's more common in pool because the actual pot seems easier. But with snooker, players are scared to try certain things because the table is big and you haven't got much room for error.
That's the only thing I think it can be. Pool players are very clever. Lots of table knowledge.
Cheers,
Steve 🙂
@@BartonSnooker 100% I agree. If you have the patience for it, watch some one pocket. Typically played with smaller pockets (though still nothing like snooker). One pocket is a game that really tests your table knowledge, banks, kicks, and finesse of the cueball. Potting balls in that game is almost always secondary unless you have a really clear shot. I've learned more from that game than anything else.
Thanks for the video Steve. I was up the club today Steve and found that if I kept my cueing elbow very still I was potting more, is this what we're supposed to do??
Hi Steve. Yes absolutely. You don't want the elbow floating about and moving on the shot.
Hi, if possible can you show Ronnie grip from different angle
Please
I have a doubt regarding stance. Is it enough if I place my leg in the line of aim or is it mandatory to keep the leg straight and not bend it? For someone who is pretty tall it is difficult to keep the leg straight while aiming. I tend to bend a bit. Is that okay?
Hi,
I answer that in this video here:
ua-cam.com/video/hHsusZwN-qQ/v-deo.html
Thank you 🙂
Thx for your inputs, Steve. However on the last shot with bottom right...isn't it so that Top will generate backspin when hitting the cushion? Or is it just pace?
Additionally to that, will left cause some more trouble in terms of behind the black? 🤓
Thx in advance.
Over that distance the white is just naturally rolling by the time it gets to the cushion, so either top or bottom don't change what happens to the white much. The only reason the bottom is useful, is that it helps massively in getting the white spinning with the right hand side. Left hand side would take the white away from the black, so that's not helpful in that situation.
OK, so you mean right will move towards the black in terms of reverse side? Sometimes I'm slow in my brain...😂
@@ianos87 not really. The right will make the white move towards the right (away from the black).
But in this shot, if I hit the cushion to the left of the red, and then have left hand side on the white, I'll miss the red altogether. The left side would "check" or "straighten" then white back up again and I wouldn't even make contact with the red. So not helpful in this situation.
What happens if the plant is three balls, does it screw back three times as much?
👍💯
I had no idea about number 4, I just thought the angle changed with pace, regardless of whether you play top or bottom of the white!
How to control the force of the blow
2:25 ROFLMAO
Did he really say that lol
