I've played it on emulator some over the years. It's definitely my favorite game of the series. I have 1-4 but this one gets the most use. Shadow's usually my favorite vehicle. For all the trouble you go to unlocking Sweet Tooth, his special really isn't worth it. One notable difference you left out is that because the levels are generally bigger, they worked in a maximum distance for damage. Once your attacks get too far away from you, they don't do any damage on impact. Freeze attacks do still freeze, though. Moscow's gimmick is that it's the smallest level with the fewest pickups. It intentionally forces you to fight close-up with brutality rather than sniping from a distance. That doesn't make it enjoyable to everyone, but it is by design rather than laziness.
As a kid my friends and I played this one the most. It was the game I picked for my first PlayStation. Yea I noticed that when I was playing, but completely forgot about it when writing the review. Moscow was always my least favorite. I don’t think my friends and I ever battled on it. I’m glad you still have fun with this one.
