The 2 seat version is the reason i bought a California, that way i can fit two longboards inside and still carry passengers and make the bed without having to put the boards on the roof, the storage units are also super handy. I love my California :)
I also prefer the 2 seater option for storage and I don’t need three back seats but it’s not available in Ireland. I can’t understand why buyers are not given the choice to have the 2 seater bench.
I would prefer the 2-seat version. Extra shelve space is much more useful in ca camper van and the fact that the seating height is lower for the 2-seat version is preferrable as it is more comfortable to seat on.
I bought the two seater Beach and love the space, especially the wide bed. However, since there are a couple of occasions when the fifth seat is needed, I bought the removable fifth seat that sits in the middle. It’s a fiddle to put in and take out and weighs a ton so it isn’t something you would want to do too often, plus with this extra seat you can’t use the downstairs bed.
Thanks for your feedback. I agree, this is only a good solution if you aren't planning on using it while camping. I do know of someone who bought a small tent to house their fifth seat in when they pull up on a campsite.
Presume this is a review of the Beach Camper given both models appear to only have one sliding door? With the Beach Tour, which we bought from you earlier this year, you also get a sliding door on both sides in the back which is an additional difference and may be beneficial to some - including us!
The 3 seat version in bed position is very high. Good for stockage under the bed... but not confortable to seat on the bed . It’s important to notice it i think. I hope to buy my New California next year and i’m not shure to buy the 3 or the 2 seat version :)
Hi Chris I am aware you are always looking for Ideas for videos. Would you look at aftermarket VW California options that are either VW approved like the VB air suspension, any others which may not be approved but will not affect warranty. Finally common ones which do affect warranty and what they impact, for example front speaker swap, would that just affect the speakers or would the whole audio system lose warranty, the same with lowering springs or a full springs/shocks swapped.

Hiya, is the back bit, ie the 3 seat bench and bed set up the same in the beach (5 seat) and beach tour (with 7 seats)?
@5:31 clever video trickery - the double decker bus turns to a lorry - in such the same way seating in a California converts to a bed I suppose
Haha good spot! And for my next trick...

I enjoyed watching the Video. If It was me then I would choose the 5-Seater Version
Thanks for sharing Chris! It seems like both the shelf on the boot and the bed are both lower in the 2 seat option?
We have the 2 seater, much prefer the additional space in the van.
Can you put in a 3rd row of seats?
Is the back 'shelf' lower in the two seat version?
If yes, what's the difference please?
bed is High in 3 seat version
can you raise the bed board up in the boot to allow you get stuff in and out easier ?

Will look in to this. Thanks for your suggestion.
the bed in the 2-seater is much more confortable and just as wide as it spreads across the storage boxes
