Umpiring has gotten SO much better since then.
Tho I do miss a manager and ump going nose to nose after a call at first, rather than the coach just doing the earmuff sign when they disagree

    RIP Jim Fregosi.

There's nothing like an angry manager arguing with the ump- pure passion for their team. Fregosi was very entertaining to watch in these situations, as was Bobby Cox.

Fregosi loved smoking his cigarettes at the Vet when Mitch was pitching.

The late Jim Fregosi sure reminds me of the late Ernest Borgnine for some reason.

Those Nostalgia Day games used to get a little testy 🤣🤣🤣. I believe Phillies bench coach Hal Lanier also later ended up getting tossed from that first game after taking over for Fregosi

Nick Leyva was even better 🥹 . He wasn’t good as a manager but was really good at getting ejected

Great hearing Kalas and Ashburn though in these clips. Harry Kalas best broadcaster of all time IMO no matter if it was baseball, basketball or a NFL films video

I swear there will be a time where the player or manger or coach will go overboard on these refs ! We understand that they make mistakes but not like this ! 2002 WCF , the 2009 and 2012 WIAAWI division one championship (men’s) (later vacated) , and the 2000 World Series is a great example of what will happen if we don’t hold these refs/umps accountable

Jim Fregosi was my favorite player when I was a kid. The first game I saw in person was Angels/Yankees at Dodger Stadium in July of 1964 and Jim HIT FOR THE CYCLE!!!!!. I even got a flat top haircut because Fregosi had one. That DP combo was awesome - Fregosi to Knoop to Adcock.

5:30, i’m wondering, does that run still count even before the double play was made ??

It should have counted. When the fielder stepped on 1st base it was no longer a force out at 2nd. Because the runner touched home before the tag it should have counted.

Bob Davidson really was an a55hole. Always had to make the game about himself.
