After a hard day - is their anything nicer than to sit back and listen to this beautiful singer.
Why is she not as big as Adele, she has the voice!
Her style is probably a little too sophisticated for the masses. Not "edgy" enough maybe. ˆ◡ˆ
Because she doesn't shout her songs, she s so much more laid back, with an incredible edgy voice. I could listen to her for hours on end!
Every time I think about the rising price of the Spotify subscription, I remember that 14 years ago, this was the very first random recommendation I got... listening to her songs ever since.

Lena I had the pleasure of seeing her about 6yr ago in Sheffield UK.. Small venue (approx 2/300) and although it was more for the wife. I was really impressed.. She could sing for sure

She is actually produced by Burt Bacharach, so he must have heard "Karen" too. As do we all,
She gives me chills and makes me think of the beautiful tragedy that was Karen Carpenter.
It reminds us all of the beauty she conveyed through her words, and songs.
And still there is beauty in the world. We just have to look for it...
I just saw her on Live from Daryl's house, and immediately realized her voice is the most like Karen Carpenter's voice I have ever heard. I've always loved Karen Carpenter's voice. It totally grabbed my interest.
That's where I discovered her Daryl's house, singing Thankful for what you got,, was hooked..😏❣️

@@stevem-h3562 You speak as if they were trying to emulate Karen. That does the artist a disservice as well as Karen's legacy.
@@clansymbiont8688 Thats a very fair comment.... I cant speak for Rumer's producer on that first album as to whether that was an intentional thing or not. It certainly gained quite a lot of traction back then and it did Rumer's career no harm whatsoever. I dont think she personally made a big deal of it or consciously tried to make it a USP. And every subsequent album of Rumer's has been very distinctly different to the debut one where the Carpenter element is conspicuous by its absence. Hence, why I think it may have been more of a label/Producer decision on the debut album.
Good music comes from all kinds of artists all over the world. Great British acts have been influenced by great American acts and vice versa down the years in pretty much equal quantity.
Who owns music? It's like arguing about who owns the air that we all breathe!
There definitely are notes Rumer hits that sound just like Karen Carpenter. I had no idea Rumer was this good! Congrats!
It’s 2024 and I’ve only just heard this but- no matter- it’s quite beautiful and reminds me less of Karen Carpenter and more of Dusty Springfield who is my favourite vocalist of all time.
This could be 1966 and I could be hearing it on a Dansette record player or it could be 2054 on whatever device will be prevalent then but the beauty and quality transcends all - a rare gem to be sure.
anyone remember 'Spanky and Our Gang' [the 70's] - parts of this remind me of their feel - wonderful upbeat song!

Many Rumer fans are asking Why is she not as well known as she should be? Adele happened.. I love Adele and she is talented as well.. But Rumer has not broken through the main stream as Adele.. But whatever. If your a true fan of Rumer you will follow and support her talent and music even if the main stream consciousness has forgotten or is unaware of her. Those of us that have discovered Rumer in our own ways, we need and should spread the word and her music to those less fortunate music lovers who know not what they have/ are missing in their lives. 🎶
Pefection !!! Rumer knocks it out of the park with this one, very "Dusty Springfield. The horns are fabulous, love her in this airy Sixties setting. Her talent is a brilliant gift to us all. Thanks Rumer, love ya !!!
the whole album is magical...tones of dusty and karen all rolled up in rumers mysticalness...cant help thinking she looks like elkie..tho...elkie is my all time fave british funxstress....go rumer...ur triffic...:-)

Heard Rumer sing this live on Jools Holland yrs ago and became a fan. Got her cd loved it, her voice is soulful and beautiful. Have seen her perform at Daryl's House, that also speaks volumes to me.

her voice reminds me of Karen Carpenter . wonderful clear voice .
I do love Karen Carpenter, but I believe Rumer has her own beautiful style which is unique - not a copy of Karen. They both are fab vocalists though, each is unique and wonderful. Rumer's style and choice of songs brings me back to the days of Burt Bachrach, love her!
One of the big differences with Karen is that Rumer 's softer and doesn't sing with an American accent. I love Karen Carpenter very much, listened to her from the days she made her music with Richard, but this is as good as, but different!

She's Incredible
She writes. That matters. I loved Karen Carpenter but she's gone. This woman doesn't sound like Minnie Mouse or like she's hiccuping every time she starts a line. She's smooth and a good writer. Her voice is very pleasant and in a range of an adult female. I think she'll break through the roof with a bullet in the States and everywhere else. Most people are tired of the same old Britney Spears, Katy Perry, screeching. That's one reason Adele hit so hard.
