To others watching, you can have endometriosis without having PCOS. At least in the US (I am a physician) the prevailing hypothesis for the cause of endometriosis is actually a backflow of menses through the Fallopian tubes. This can lead to endometrial tissue anywhere in the abdomen and, in VERY rare cases, in the lungs. Usually it will attach itself to nearby intestines and cause severe pain and even bloody stools in some cases.

I have pcos but I'm in the USA and I feel like my endocrinologist doesn't care , they don't help me figure out anything , they just check my levels and send me on my way or give me med to get my period. definitely very frustrating and annoying

nebraskacutie96 I have a combination of PCOS a Prolactinoma (benign tumor in the pituitary), as well as having a hypothyroidism. I see about 3 different specialists and everytime they don't know what to do. I've tried medications and special diets. They continue to act as if it's not a big deal eventhough I feel terrible all the time. I've tried too many doctors to count and no one seems to do anything. Having a possitive attitude is helping me through it,but it can be frustrating, just stick in there!

No such thing as oversharing. I don't even have any of these medical stuff and still watch all the videos because they are informative. Who knows if one of my future friends one day complains about all these symptoms and I could suggest "hey look into this..." because I watched your vids. It's helpful information to know in life :)

Hi Rachel! Much love from Canada. I am 33 years old. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 19, endo at 21 and I have had 5 Laproscopic surgeries since to combat the over growth. If I could give you one word of advice.... unless there is way too much pain to handle, or you don't think you can deal with it any longer don't do any surgery to laser off the endo. I am now dealing with so many issues that have gotten worse because there is so many adhesions and scar tissue from the surgeries that I am not only having issues with endo pain but I have bowel problems, bladder issues and hip pain constantly that I had to stop working out. It really sucks because I worked out as much as you do. I love your videos and really admire you for putting yourself out there. 💖💖✌🏻🙏🥑

Rachel Aust hey i had endometriosis twice many years ago ... actually after my last surgery they told me i may won't have children naturally ... i got pregnant a month after surgery :) and by now actually have two kids ... my last surgery was 7 years ago and thank god i never had to deal with endometriosis again ... when i did go in to see a doc/surgeon about it he never said it can't be cured ... sure it can come back any given time after a surgery but i did meet many many woman so far that had it and had surgeries for it and essentially never had it again ... also if you do keep getting it they told me removing my ovaries was an option ... i didn't have children so obviously that wasn't an option for me lol ... and another treatment they told me they had was to be temporarily be put into menopause which wasn't the best option in my case they told me that treatment was best if you're endometriosis is spread ... mine wasn't so it was easy to remove ... they do suggest to get checked by your ob gyn more frequently than healthy woman but like i said chances are that you have your surgery and it won't come back ... endometriosis also seems to be a very very common thing ... i am not a doctor but before when i first got the endometriosis i used to use tampons but ever since my last surgery never used one again i prefer pads now and i do personally feel like that it helped with the endometriosis not coming back and as a tip for all the woman if you do notice you period being unusual (in my case it was extremely painful to the point were i couldn't even use the restroom normally and my period lasted much longer than it should) go to the doctor tell them to check you more thoroughly because obviously like with any sickness it's best being treated sooner than later ... with that being said rachel i hope your surgery is going to go well and that you'll feel better afterwards and hopefully you don't have to deal with it again :)

Rachel Aust hey hun I do have endometriosis. ...
I also have adenomyosis and had a hysterectomy. Lindsey ..please know these three things about endometriosis
      a) hysterectomy doesn't cure or make endometriosis go away l, endo alone (without your uterus and ovaries endometriosis will still produce estrogen, I have endo in my lung bladder , I've known other endosisters 💛 who have it in their brain, kindeys)
      b) whatever you do don't take a drug called lupron or other drugs like it
      c) please note the normal procedure for endo is ablation but the. thing that will remove endo is excision
please look at Dr Redwine's work and the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta Georgia in the United States of America
if I think of something else I'll post it
....I wish you well hun 😚

These kind of videos are so crucial to remove the stigma about female reproductive organ, genetic and awareness about our overall health and wellness. I myself have suffered from fibroids for yrs and finally had surgery thanks to the advancement in technology that can address these issues for women and help them with their fertility if/when they wanna have kids in the future.
Good luck with your surgery Rachel, wishing you speedy recovery.

I also have PCOS among another hormonal condition. I've always had to use meds to push a AF on so never thought twice about the pain down to my knees during that time. During a surgery to fix a filopian tube before starting infertility tx, during surgery they discovered I have endometriosis and worse polyps then thought.
Here in America no insurance coverage for infertility tx and we ran out of fund after only a few cycles and still are not parents. However I am thankful for that surgery, it has given more correct insight to my condition.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I was recovered in about 7 days from the surgery.

I have PCOS and Endometriosis too, it's the worst pain in the world. I'm the same- unbearable pain, can't move or do anything for an entire day or two and I have a really high pain threshold (I work with horses, have done my whole life and I've been trampled, kicked, squashed, fallen on, injured from using farm machinery and I have never ever been bothered about an injury, i walk it all off, but this shit is unbearable to deal with for a day or so!). I had an op when I was 13, that was how I found out I had it as they thought it was my appendix, I had to have my pelvis drained too and I have the worst scars ever still 8 years later!
    Good luck with your surgery!x

After 20+ years of living with excruciating pain I finally had a full hysterectomy last September. My husband and I did adopt our son as I had numerous issues with my reproductive system.....mostly scar tissue from surgeries in my early twenties. The doctors suspected endometriosis but could never diagnose it as I wasn't able to have a laparoscopy. My advice as well is to get this seen to ASAP. I didn't know I had so many problems until we were trying to get pregnant. It took so much time just getting tests, then results, then discussing options, etc. It took us 7 years from when we started trying for a child until our son came to us. Time passes quickly.😢

Rachel i feel for you, i hope everything goes well for you. I was diagnosed with endometriosis stage 4 when i was 22 and was battling it for years. The excruciating pain put my life on hold for years, nothing worked for me until i was put on prostap injections for 7 months witch cleared up all my cysts and adhesions and then i had a mirena coil fitted. I had it for 2 years, never felt better, then decided that i wanted to try for a baby and had the coil removed. My baby is due next month:), i will have the coil replaced as soon as possible after birth.
I know that battling endo may feel never ending but it can get better, stay strong.

New subscriber - I totally understand painful periods. At 17 I was told I had Endo & had a 50/50 chance of getting pregnant. I had developed many fibroids & bled heavily. I had a thermal ablation - HUGE mistake for me. The blood built it over time. The pain became worse - I was given, percocet & other pain meds. Finally wound up in ER with a very bloated tummy & SEVERE pain. 3 weeks later I had a total hysterectomy. Thankfully, for me, I had 1 child prior.

I have endometriosis. I found out last year and I had two surgeries. I've had those painful periods pretty much since I got it when I was 11, was never told anything about reproductive disorders, I was just pumped with birth control pills and pain killers and that helped for a while but then it didn't. So after insisting on an ultrasound with my family doctor they found a large cyst they thought was cancerous, I was referred to a gynecologist, and she did an exploratory laprascopy and excision. Turns out that because of the endo my right fallopian tube was actually twisted and tied down with lesions and that made it look like a tumor through ultrasound.

I literally just had the same laparoscopic surgery two weeks ago yesterday. Thankfully I don't have endometriosis, but the doctor said I do have some "pre-cancer changes" in the endometrium which is a whole other topic besides the PCOS. As far as the surgery itself, it's really not that bad. I didn't have any endometriosis cut out, so I can't speak for that, but the recovery I had is a full two weeks, but the pain is not bad. I was cleaning my house the next day (carefully of course)-and no vacuuming or lifting. And only three incisions on my abdomen. One inside my belly button and two on the left side of the mid-abdomen. They are small and will be barely noticeable once they are completely healed. I hope this helps ease your mind or anyone else's if they have to do the surgery and are nervous or worried about it. I was so nervous, and the worst part was the groggy feeling of waking up after. You girls can do it!! :)

Hi, studied medical sciences - (5.30) When blood sugar drops, insulin drops as well and when blood sugar rises, insulin rises and causes weight gain because it promotes the storage of fats. Please check that info. I have polycystic ovaries and blood sugar issues , and a ketogenic diet has worked wonders. I don't eat beans, grains or carbs. Even sugary fruit are a no no because they have been bred to be too sweet. Regular meals with carbs are no good for you no matter how healthy if they contain complex carbs or sweet fruit.

I hope you have a lovely time in Hong Kong! Hopefully you don't have endometriosis, but regardless of the outcome, you have a lot of support in your social media community. :) Take care! ♥

I have pcos and have been on a gluten free, dairy free, caffeine free, and low sugar diet. I have been taking DIM as a supplement every other day or so for the past month. Have you looked into DIM? Also, have you noticed a difference with the Myo inositol? My current supplements are magnesium, vitamin d, DIM, and then I am on a cream hormone therapy.
Love watching your videos on this stuff! I went years without being diagnosed so I enjoy seeing your process and being able to figure stuff out.

Hi! I suffered for many years with very heavy (the first day of my cycle) and very painful periods. I actually had to stay home from school, (excused) etcetera on the first day due to pain, vomiting, etc. They initially thought I had endometriosis but thankfully, I did not. It was quite the horrible experience. I feel for you and pray you do not have it. I know the pill did not work for you, but that was the only thing that helped. My cousin actually suffers and has had several surgeries due to endometriosis. Praying you have a speedy recovery, post surgery.

I have endometriosis. All my mom's side of the family has it. I didn't have it. Then I got a tumor that almost give me cancer and they found out I had it. Cause of my relatives having it, My mom started to take me to the gynecologist a young age. Thanks to that, I could said it save my life. I have deeply thankful for my mom not having tabus about taking me so young to the doctor even when I didn't have it back then. I would suggest to go every trimester to the doc, I do and that blood test too. Cause the primary issue that we have with endometriosis is fertility and maybe at the moment you are not thinking in wanting kids but you never know. I am married and at the moment I don't have kids, don't know if I want some at the moment. But I am one of the few women with endometriosis without fertility problems. The pain, it is horrible, but if you take the right birth-control for you it would make a huge difference. Also, Endometriosis can cause depression as a mental illness in some cases. Sadly, endometriosis yet doesn't have a cure. Beside that the only thing I can't say to you, is that you aren't alone in this, theres millions of women having it, and although sometimes it makes you feel like crap having it. Always remember you have a support group of people all over the world that gives you virtual hugs everyday.

    Nice PCOS video.
Could you explain more about that tea ☕️? Maybe take us to the shop you went and have the guy explain it. I live near San Francisco and can get mostly anything herb 🌿 related.

Oh, man, I have endometriosis and it seriously sucks. I've had issues basically since I started my period at the age of eleven but didn't get diagnosed until I was 35 when I got my tubes tied last year and my doctor saw it during the surgery. I'm trying to put off another surgery for as long as I can through dietary adjustments and supplementation but I know it's going to have to happen at some point because the adhesions can cause serious damage. I'm sorry you are dealing with this but I appreciate you being open about it because while I wouldn't wish this on anyone it does help to know that I'm not the only one.

I love learning about your story as I have insulin resistance and I can try and adopt some of your eating tips. I'm going for a check up on the 2nd after a 4 month medication trial ( mines genetic and I was also lacking in a hormone within the small Intestine, ive forgotten its name though) so until then I can't make drastic changes but I hope your surgery goes well!

I had my fourth laprascopic surgery earlier this year for my endometriosis. Highly recommended getting a wheat bag to help with recovery and as much as it hurt try walk as much as you can around the house to help release the gas they use during the surgery.
Or else this gas can travel up to your shoulder sockets and it is painful (I didn't believe my gynaecologist the first time.. Rookie mistake).
I understand you have negative symptoms with contraceptives, but my current gynaecologist recommended Mirena and it has helped my endometriosis massively. X

Stephanie Beacroft I've had gas pain up in the shoulder sockets before and you're absolutely right how painful it is. I always thought how strange it was to get gas up there. I've had abdominal surgeries and I guess that's why they want you to walk as much as possible after.

Where I live we mostly eat potatoes, peas, cabbage and rice... like every day... almost every meal... and no doctor is advising us to stop eating those things to cure PCOS. Can somebody explain me the problem with carbs?

    • @percyaisling5892
      @percyaisling5892 7 років тому

I've never had a doctor tell me to change my diet, even though I've been dealing with PCOS for 20 years. For some reason, most doctors don't deal with dietary needs (even though it's really important to our health).
The issue with carbs is that it's sugar, and PCOS increases your insulin resistance, meaning your body isn't breaking down the sugars you eat (think of diabetes). In essence, most women with PCOS can become prediabetic/diabetic. Because of that it's important to lower your simple carbohydrates intake. Also dairy products increase testosterone levels.

Hi Rachel, I really hope it's not endometriosis but no matter what, you're a strong woman and I wish you all the best!
Just one thing, normally when your level of glucose in the blood goes up, insulin is released from your beta cells in the pancreas (so insulin spikes after a meal), so if you are eating more meals, more insulin is released not the other way around :)
I'm a med student, just so you know :)
    Sending regards from Austria :**

I have pcos too. It's the lean pcos type. I have painful periods 2/3 days bed ridden. Waiting on diagnostic lapporoscopy for suspected endo, cervical stenosis and anomalies.. eating every 4 hours has helped to regulate my period but they're still hard to track. I just recently had a ruptured cyst with free fluid was the worst pain I've had. Constant stabbing pain over the left ovary...

I was wondering since you are a highly active person how long do you plan ''taking off'' while recovering from surgery ? I've been watching your videos and I'm impressed at how much stuff you get done in a day. I also have pcos and other hormonal issues so these videos are super helpfull and since many women are suffering from these issues it helps you to connect with your wievers !I hope all goes well and have fun in Hong Kong !

Ah it looks like your tea is made majority of roots and barks, and you are making a decoction out of it when you boil them as opposed to just steeping them with hot water (infusion) for a limited amount of time. It's a herbalism thing. :) Don't worry about falling behind, much better to reduce your stress levels than worry about these things. I can't find inositol anywhere in my country and bringing in stuff from other countries can get so expensive! Wish I can find a source soon. But I do take some teas, Evening Primrose Oil and other supplements as well.

I don't know if you have covered this in another video that I didn't watch but have you ever tried Vitex Agnus Castus for pcos? Or Maybe someone that is reading this comment tried it, I heard that sometimes it can help even if you don't have pcos but "regular" pms symptoms.

I have both of those contitions and I already had surgery. Sadly I have to tell you neither of the things they did ("burning" out the endometriosis und punctuating the ovaries) had any lasting effects. Both are back by now which is two years later. My new doctor said it only really makes sense to have surgery for those if you want to get pregnant because both of those conditions will always come back in short time. I now have to take the anti baby pill every single day without the pause of getting my periode. I still really hope this will work out for you but maybe get a second opinion? Surgery is always dangerous, you shouldn't have to risk that for nothing. (I hope that's readable, I'm obviously not a native speaker).

When you say "no carb" do you mean no fruit & vegetables?

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 7 років тому +4

I've done very low carb. Fruit was not allowed. Some vegetables are so extremely low carb that you could eat quite a lot of them without going over 20 carbs/day. Peas, carrots, winter squash, and corn are fairly high carb, so they must be eaten very sparingly on a low carb diet. I don't eat high-carb vegetables at all when I do very low carb. Broccoli, cauliflower, summer squash, cabbage, mushrooms (except portobello), and lettuce are fine. There are other low-carb veggies, but I stick to the few that I like.
